I bloody love our style of football, I fucking hate the calamitous ball retention in our defensive third.

The Villa are in a sticky patch but home games versus Brentford and us is a good opportunity for them to turn that form around. We welcome back Tyler, Taylor, Soldier, Spy following suspension. New club captain (surely) Downes also rested. Jan could also return, giving us a much stronger look. We’ve been a more attacking threat of late, Villa are a bit dodge at the back. 1-2 an Archer double.

It’s not often that I look at an away fixture at a top 6 side and think yeah this is winnable, we can get at them… this isn’t one of those times either.

Standard, boring but at least you’re consistent in your missing of the point being raised / discussed and divert by the form of some half wit humour around a perceived idolisation / cheer leading.

Not sure RM blamed the sending off for the outcome. In the interview I saw he said we were 3-1 down at the time but not out of the game…(or words to that effect) I don’t agree with that, we visibly shrank when the 2nd went in.

Loads of negatives, previously covered. Trying to pick out some positives: Nathan Wood - can’t work out if I’m marking Nathan as a positive due to the low expectation I had or because he actually looked alright. Showed a bit of pace, competed well enough and was good with the ball at his feet. We moved the ball really well in the first half hour, progressing up the field with ease on several occasions. Tried to carry that on with 10 when Stephens went off and 9 when BBD came on. Manning is looking more and more like a Premier League player. Captain Aribo.

Without wishing to get all CB Fry on you… how often have you talked about a decent performance or the team showing real improvement?

The previous 2 games have shown signs of real improvement. That’s unlikely to continue tonight, there’s just too many changes to contend with. No doubt the players will go out and give it their all. Chelsea will rock up expecting an easy victory, but you never know… stranger things have happened. Up the fucking Saints!

I don’t agree with the decision either but I have some sympathy for checking the Archer offside first as that would’ve been objective rather than the subjective world of pain they had to go to with the Armstrong decision.

I’ve a hazy memory of the flag going up late rather than immediately after the ball was in the net. The sooner they open up access to the communications between ref, lino, 4th and Stockley Park the better.

Haha. Anything that takes 6 minutes to decide is clearly not obvious. Anyway, improved performance in the 2nd half. Lost count the number of times Dibling was fouled, what a class act he was, unplayable.
