Palace wanted Dyer/Gorre's son in demand
saintwarwick replied to Saint Charlie's topic in The Saints
I think Rupert Lowe was at the last Coventry game cheering them on..... -
So the wage bill wasn't reduced by much then.
-
I would of thought Luketti, Perry, Pericard and Richard Wright would of added to the wage bill

It was £650,000 with the fee increasing should Coventry gain promotion by 2010. -
Agreed, technology today would make capital punishment a definate goer imo. It may have been wrong in the past but with the technology available any despicable acts of crime like this one shoild be dealt with in capital punishment.

I have many happy moments but top of the pile has to be 1976. After that anything MLT did, beating the big teams, beating pompey, anything seventies/early eighties, away games, Wolves away 6-0. So many good times.

No, his great great great great great great great great great great grandson has taken over.

Why do the stewards need to ask him to stop when it's clearly advertised and has been for some time that it is a non smoking stadium. He (smoker) should never have lit up in the first place as he know's it's against the law. As for the 'family oriented' club the smoker clearly didn't give a toss where he blew his smoke bearing in mind there are kids watching.

Maybe, just maybe the bank had a say in our cost cutting to the extent that it was.

Did you miss the bit where Pearson took us into the bottom three in the penultimate game of the season Yes Dodd and Gorman were sh1t but to say Pearson was god like as some would suggest is a bit wide of the mark and I wanted him to stay for this season because I thought HCODAJFU.
-
Did they or is this your version of events? I have nothing against Pearson but his won three, drawn seven and lost three of last season took us into relegation mode and that last game (of the three wins) got us out of the mire courtesy of Leicester (and Coventry). These are facts, deal with it.
-
But under Pearson we continued heading into oblivion to such an extent that we were in a relegation spot in the penultimate game of the season and only a win plus results going our way was the only thing stopping us getting relegated. Would he have got so much praise if we got relegated?

ITV4 - Thursday - 1979 League Cup Final - Saints v Forest
saintwarwick replied to jim_bergerac's topic in The Saints
I still have a spare ticket (somewhere) for that final. A mate I got a ticket for (non saints fan who fancied a day out at wembley) failed to show for the final after struggling to get to wembley on time from Streatham!! He at least paid for the ticket. -
Agreed. Under the old system if the top drivers had a bad pit stop, damaged wing or puncture they at least had a chance to get back into the points to challenge for the overall title, now will the top drivers bother racing once they are out of contention for the win?
-
Good point, I think I'll take up smoking instead
-
Agreed, not much chance of first team footy at Ipswich. That article said we have Davis, Forecast, Poke and Pernacky, I thought Poke was on loan at Torquay? I agree with Andy_Porter about getting rid of Forecast instead.

So closing one block at SMS is your reason for not attending home games, you still have 40 odd other choice of blocks. Still whilst we are struggling to pay the bills you are quite willing to put money into other clubs coffers without the choice where you stand.
-
I thought it was but without the smilie I wasn't sure
-
TBF our defence has been pretty good recently (only 3 conceded in the last six games) it's the lack of scoring goals in some of those games which has been the problem.
-
What makes you so sure Torquay will be in Div 2.
-
Lack of money.

Where have all the Happy-Clappies gone?
saintwarwick replied to Channon's Sideburns's topic in The Saints
TBF the negative threads outnumber the positive ones due to our position in the league and possible relegation. I'm one of the positive ones though and admit we could get relegated but I will still be a happy clappy because it's not the end of the world. -
That's what I was thinking.
