It's a huge gamble. Quite simply. With luck he'll be raring to go after a disappointing season and want to prove a point. Get 10 goals between now and seasons close and he's probably done the same aa AA. Surely cant be worse than Downs.
-
That is what I think also. The club realises promotion is beyond us now. So it's about consolidating and keeping their options open to either sell, or go again next year without some of the bloat. We aren't consistent enough to get promoted.
-
So we've sold our top scorer and replaced him with an unknown. Another gamble. Classic SR trying to be smarter than everyone else.
-
I agree to a certain extent. But consider Ross Stewart gets injured long term again. We'd have potentially just one of Archer or Armstrong plus the new signing. Another injury and we're down to deploying youth players again. A lot depends on the quality and fitness of this new signing. Feels like a gamble. I think we need a credible fourth option and so did the club in the summer.

I'm trying to be reasonable about it. But the fingertip onto the post would have found a way to creep in under Baz. Those always did. The fine details are beyond him.
-
Has been really excellent today. Seems more at ease with his positioning when in a back 4.
-
Subs not sufficient quality.
-
We've got nothing upfront now. Young lad not ready. Has he even touched the ball?
-
And we don't sell Archer and Armstrong without replacing them. It all hinges on that and the fitness of Stewart.
-
VAR disallows it because of the handball in the build up.
-
There was contact but he made too much of it.
-
Has Stewart touched the ball yet?
-
Hopefully not a leaving present.
-
Some of the through balls today have been amazing. Great start.

Disappointing to see both Archer and Armstrong left out. Regardless of moves, we should still try to win games. Still it gives us a chance to see how the team for the rest of the season will look. Cause I really can't see them signing anyone decent even if we sell both. It'll be some young player with potential who ends up being crap and left out after a few games.
-
Standard SR tactics as per our last promotion to the Premier League. Sell experience, gamble on youth.
-
Unless he has stated he wants to leave. In which case it may be worth it - if we can get in suitable replacement. The problem is that Sports Republic are being trusted with that decision.

There is no doubt the flurry of subs turned the game in their favour and disrupted our flow. So that's on the manager, yes. Not everything is though and I'm glad to see we stuck to 4 at the back and Manning didn't make it on the pitch. A few glimpses of progress. But game management still awful. He may learn from that though. Let's try to be positive.

I only got to see the last 25 mins. So unfortunately saw the worst of it. One team showing determination and effort. The other looked off the pace and lacking in any sort of attack plan. Fortunate to hold on.
-
One way traffic. We looked knackered and cant keep the ball. Just being overrun by determination. And the ref hasn't helped..
-
Pompey the only team now creating chances. They could win.

Football makes no sense. How did that poor Sheff Utd side score 3 goals!

That extra analyst made the difference!!

Bloody hell we needed those points. Good to win, but that last 15 mins was awful. More luck than judgement that they didn't score. Coincided with the subs...

Idiot ref. Total idiot all game.
