My 8 year old lad has developed a bit of an F1 obsession so I'm thinking about taking him to Silverstone this year. I'm wondering though if it would be better to take him up for the qualifying rather than the race itself. Has anyone done the saturday before? How busy does it get, will he be likely to see a bit more of the action or is it just as bad as on race day? Cheers.

Thinking of taking the nipper to a game or two at some big european grounds next season, Nou Camp, San Siro etc. Anyone know of a decent company that organises the whole thing? I really can't be arsed trying to put it all together myself.

Totally agree. If we don't need the money refuse any offers out of hand and remind him of what the club has done for him, if he throws a strop let him train with the kids for a few weeks, and if his attitude still doesn't improve let him see out his contract there. That'll be his international career straight down the pan. Might send a message to a few others as well.

But the problem as we are seeing now, is while we can get these players, we can't keep hold of them as we can't offer what the big boys can. We're in a massive catch 22, and without spunking a few hundred million we will be every year.

Unfortunately I think we've peaked for the size of the club at the moment. THe owners don't want to/can't fund a further push as we just don't yet have the infrastructure to support it, and if it goes wrong, well, have a look at the other end of the M27. To compete at that level we need a bigger ground, a bigger squad, more global exposure, better sponsors, the list goes on. I think we have to accept this is going to be Southampton for the next few years at least.

What if, NC didn't, he was sacked. Because of the financial turmoil his spending has brought on the club. We were told that there was a 'financial situation' after his departure. What if this is far worse than we're being told and a firesale is well and truly on to keep the club afloat again.

Assuming we bring in a couple of decent replacements I can't see us going down, we're better than the 3 coming up. 17th though is a distinct possibility...

As harsh as it sounds, I can't see us wanting to give him one until we know his knee is recovering. That injury has ended more than one career.
