  1. I remember the 77-78 promotion season as being one where Saints started slowly, got into the top three in late Autumn and stayed there the rest of the season. Spent most of the second half of the season really consistently and caught up Bolton and Spurs. Went top for three days and ended up second. This season is a bit different, assuming that the end result is the same. Playing fantastic football and being in the top two all season, having a mid-season slump and hopefully recovering. Can't see the parallels myself.
  2. http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?35723-New-Saints-Manager-Available This was the thread I was talking about. Moreover, the post about how you thought if Capello was on the market you'd get rid of Adkins even though he is doing a superb job. My point was, what's the point of looking on the negative side of matters. Say we did lose yesterday and do on Tuesday, why right off automatic promotion chances based on two games out of a possible 46. That was my point about starting absurd threads. HTH
  3. Noodles, this is the second completely monumentally stupid thread you have posted (the other one being "get rid of Adkins". Seriously mate...
  4. whoa whoa whoaaaa he is he is billy billy sharpe (bed and breakfast man by madness) [video=youtube;mievwX-5ntk]
  5. I had SKID MARKS on my BLUE boxers. Surely an omen?
  6. This thread is, quite frankly, ridiculous. I've started stupid threads in my time but this one gets my vote for "Most idiotic thread of the year" award
  7. Completely agree. If you want us to win every single game then go and support Man Utd but IMO Saints is for people who stick with it through the thick and thin. Atm, we're in the best league position we've been in ages and, depite the bad run of form, still play better than we have over the past 6 years. Why get rid of NA for that just because we can't win a few games. Tbh it really ****es me off

    Bottle Lids

Smuggled a bottle lid into the Northam. When I had sat down and then went to get myself a pie the steward stopped me and said I had a bottle in my coat. I duly gave over the lid but he didn't seem to notice the other bottle in my coat. Anyway, my point is, if I was in block 40, why shouldn't I be allowed it since it was half empty and I couldn't hurl it at the away fans even if I wanted to and wouldn't want to throw it at the home fans?
  9. They're well and truly stuffed. No-one will buy them with the £20 million debt to the previous owners. So administration again, points deduction and relegation. This time I think that HMRC will get their money. They're fed up with the football debt rule and looking to give someone a good kicking. So expect a court case and no acceptance of Administration terms. There is a very real risk that they will end up having to do an Aldershot or Wimbledon and start again. Might end up with a properly run football club, which might be best for all concerned in the long run. We were lucky and got good buyers.
  10. This is the biggest game by far this year (2012). Hopefully the cup should have put some momentum back into the club. If we win this, all things look a lot rosier. A draw wouldn't be disastrous. A defeat doesn't bare thinking about.
  11. Go out for a drink?? Honestly, people like you make me sick
  12. Not wishing to lower the tone of the conversations here but sometimes I feel like the person behind me is a little to close and sometimes I feel like I must smell or something as they are 3m behind me. So what is the acceptable distance? I'm going for about 1m as anymore and I feel like I have BO or something.
  13. Ask us all again in two games time. Win the next two home games, especially the Cardiff game, and the gap to third will be back to 7 points. Slip up and it won't look anywhere near as healthy.
  14. I'm am so up for that. Genuinelly
  15. With all the transfer speculation at the moment, what was the signing that we all thought was crazy at the time that worked out best. In recent times, Peter Crouch for me. Turned out to be a far better player than he was ever given credit for. Discuss
  16. Now which one is when since when ever I hear it, it's always an amalgamation of the two.
  17. I joked to my Celtic supporting work colleague that Saints were after another Celtic player. 'You can't have Hooper, he is the only decent player that we have got'. Can't see Saints paying £6million though. Think we will be looking elsewhere.
  18. Mine. Madness.
  19. For once I find myself agreeing with Alpine. I don't normally. Not sure whether a minutes silence at SMS is appropriate, but I share the sentiment. I find the media obsession with the Titanic to be in really bad taste. Southampton had a population of around 130,000 in 1912. The city was devastated, especially in the areas in the bottom of town where many of the 550 lived. We are going to get no end of anniversary hype from the media this year, which will all ignore the human misery that the sinking caused. And no, we dont need a Titanic museum, just the memorial. Rant over.
  20. the isle of wight?
  21. Such a sad story. RIP mate
  22. Was thinking, even if we don't go up, gate attendences need to be fairer than they are now. Moreover, first come first served isn't always the best option. I definately agree that ST should get priority over all games but after that they are realeased on 'general sale'. Surely someone who goes to say 10 games a season who can't buy a ST should have priority over someone who has been to 1. Your thoughts?
  23. Apoligies if posted elsewhere but I've just found out that for the first 15 minutes of the game, they are boycotting the ground in protest against the owner's. Is it me or does there seem to be a cycle of clubs doing this. Anyway, all in the past now.
  24. Completely agree. I also think that NA was waiting to see which players could make the step up to Championship level, and which couldn't. It is now very apparent that the squad is a bit thin - we need a striker, CB cover and a keeper. I also think that we have had a bit of a reality check after the stunning football of the Autumn. Teams have worked us out, pack the midfield even when at home, chase, and close down the full backs.
