  1. I think a lot of this spculation is way wide of the mark. I think we'll get to the premiership, markus will sell to make money on his investment and turbulent times will follow. Enjoy the winning while it lasts.
  2. They will park the bus AND dig a trench behind it. nail biting times ahead methinks
  3. For me I think the FA cup. the league is obvouisly important but is a given, we are unlikely to get rpomoted, unlikely to be relegated. A good cup run would be a great bonus, put us on the map a bit. What is the best day out, ther JPT final or a 5th round FA cup draw against a top premiership side? The latter gets my vote.
  4. It is a good run, the only dampner being 1 win in 4 in the league. This has pretty much ended whatever slim hopes we had of making the playoffs. So there is reason for both optimmism and disappointement IMO.
  5. yeh, this time last year we were so successful we were 4th from bottom
  6. I think we entered the relegation zone on 28th dec 2008
  7. We are still a business and turning a profit, in the medium term at least is still a key goal. Expect good offers for players to be accepted.
  8. The weather's been fine up hear so they won't believe you!
  9. and wasn't it northampton who humiliated our reserves under redknapp who was proving a point to Lowe?
  10. I think a cup run would be great, and bring in some dosh. Assuming it is going to be fairly easy to get out of the relegation zone, but a promotion challenge unlikely, then the cup could be good for our season i think.
  11. OK, that's not good. You would think that for balls over the top trotman should be the man. norwich are a decent side though, and it seems that but for a couple of errors we might have won. One point from 2 home games is quite disappointing though, especially after the self-destructing orient game.
  12. As others have said, harding's problems seem to stem from a lack of midfield cover. This is just about getting the balance of attack and defence right. The problem is that other teams seem to have realised they can exploit this. The goals were from errors and if you can near eliminate errors then that is enough to get out of L1 IMO. I wasn't at the game so it's not at all clear to me why Trotman is getting a hard time.
  13. on that evidence he would certainly put the fear into the opposition! but mm, is it really what we need?
  14. only if it is from the team..
  15. This Sunday could be it- if we win and either stockport fail to win or Gillingham lose, then we will be out! Roll on sunday, and lets hope we get out and stay out.
  16. I agree -the first rovers goal begins from antonio's error. That may be why he's here on loan and not in the reading first team.. so there has to be a chance we can hang onto him because -he's clearly very useful and scares defenders with his power. As for Gobern- heap the blame on AP..
  17. gratuitous swearing at others is not generally the hallmark of a genius....
  18. No, If we win 4 in a row we can afford 2 losses. and that doesn't count the 4 we just won!
  19. I can see the thinking but I surely NickG is mistaken. To have been in sixth place you have to have beaten the team that would otherwise be in sixth place, otherwise you would be seventh. That's where beating the team in seventh would get you. In the last 4 seasons we would have needed around 76 points to get sixth.
  20. I had a quick check of past tables yesterday. As others have said 75 points or so is the target for the playoffs. Contrary to saint without a halo's post above, after 14 games, 22 points would have got you in the playoff places in 3 of the last 4 seasons (24 for the other), and this season is exactly the same. So we can expect the target to be similar to previous seasons on this form.
  21. I think the key will be keeping everyone fit. We have a pretty settled side and that has been key to getting things moving. Losing one or two players to injury or suspension could easily upset our momentum, and that's what will be on AP's mind right now. Any signings in Jan need to provide good cover. CB could still haunt us if Jaidi or Trotmann are out, and we are right royally in the mire if KD gets injured.
  22. I think AP has also intimated he will only get a loan in when he has shipped some players out, which still hasn't been achieved. Remember this is not fantasy football and there are practical limitations
  23. I know stern left a little while ago byut surely it still makes sense to evaluate the resources you have before making expensive decisions to bring players in. Also, it has to also be clear that the type of player you are looking for has become available, which is not always the case.
