I agree, he could have been hoping for Lambert and John, who would have made a fearsome duo. The fact that he is looking for a loan shows that he is aware of the problem and is trying to fix it..!

Interesting that there is no real disagreement as to what our best team is! When was the last time that happened. I take this to be a good sign for the team.

lack of pace meant playing wide midfield didn't suit david beckham much either...

who is it that in the play before the goal that comes in from the right and completely sells himself challenging for the ball in a sunday league manner?!

I know this is a cynical view, but it's important to consider the point of having a manager's post match reaction on the OS. The main point is to play a role in ecouraging the most fans possible to go to the next home game. In the main it will be considered that more people wil come if they expect a positive performance. Hence after a mediocre performance you will always see managers putting a positive shine on things, in the hope it convinces more people to attend. I don't think it is reasonable to extrapolate to the manager's actual view on the game.

When I read people's 'ideal starting 11s' on this forum...

yes deadpanmatt you are dead right. Presumably he will get a run out in the first team when he's ready. Pardew even intimated when he arrived that he would not immediately be up to first team action because of the differrences in the way football is played in league 1 and italy. It would have been a big risk to throw him on at charlton. can he even speak english well enough to have his job explained to him? -
Schneiderlin is a worthy candidate for best passer of the ball in league 1. I think we'll win, but if we don't there is no need to hit the panic button yet. Rebuilding was about more than just the playing staff, so we need more patience than at Mkdons and others.

10 games is enough gelling time? some of the new players haven't even played a whole 90 mins yet!

Time for our season to start / league table to watch

Agreed, as long as we keep our best players fit, especially KD, we will be fine I think. -
We have to give him more time before judging! That said, i think some managers do get lucky despite themselves, and fall down when they try and change things, and I thought Pardew was one of those that got lucky at west ham. Still he's made decent signings and things off the pitch are receiving attention also, with new staff only recently appointed. I don't think it is reasonable to ask for more at this stage.

he bought the club as an investment, he's not going to attend games, except when there is a business case.
-
seemed to be a bit of a recurring problem of them being 2 on 1 in the full back areas

Any money generated before the takeover is lost or spent money I'm afraid..

I concur with Phil, we are owed more details. perhaps we should start a list of precise questions.

I think you missed the point of the director of football. As far as I see it Cortese saw that he was spending too much of his time running around after players and negotiating transfers, such that he had little time left for other matters. the DoF is to put this right, someone to deal with these football matters while Cortese runs the club. I'm sure AP is fine with this. As for APs body language- he is treading a thin line. He doesn't want to seem (to the players) that he is desperately unhappy with the team's performance because the players need all the confidence they can get. He knows that change will take weeks, and will not be brought about by a rant in one or two minutes half way through a match. I imagine he is reluctant to change things half way through because he doesn't want to cause confusion. Instead he is going to stick to the pre-match plan so that everyone knows what they're meant to be doing (even if they are sh*te at it!).

I'm hoping that hammond will get schneiderlin that bit of time to show what he can do, the problem will be when he's injured or suspended. Does anyone know what sort of player plays alongside schneiderlin for france?
-
I think he must be protecting the players and trying to take somthing positive out of the game. You can see he is worried by their fragile confidence. That said, we have seen time and time again that playing players out of position is rarely the answer. We have to play to our strengths which for now means attacking and putting our best players on the pitch, ie raza or saga. Hammond may solve some of our midfield problems but there will still be times when he is unavailable. What then? It wil remind me of that season when we lost every game that carlton palmer didn't play! Is Perry up for 2 games a week at his age, or is he injured? I hope this is why he was left out, because if he is rated lower than lancashire we need 2 CBs not one.

I chuckled particularly at ' go to your homes, homes' lol!

joint slovakian nationality apparently
-
the fee's clearly agreed, presumably just ironing out personal terms.
-
Oh yeh, forgot about that bit!
-
EU player.
-
Now there's a question: how to start Pulis playing? Perhaps hammond will know where the on button is!
-
A particularly cunning plan.

If we buy from league 1 we are also weakening the opposition teams.
