  1. When John Page, Bob Charles and Tommy Traynor..I think...stood on the goal line...NO one could score.
  2. Brother called Mick McGear;)
  3. Sorry if already mentioned but I just remembered the name diiicck Connor....vague but if memory serves me correct very short black greased back hair and a very polished hard Right half. My grandad used to work in the docks with Bobby McLAUGHLIN..who after leaving Saints coached up at Birch Lawn for Sholing when he gave me a trial. John McGuigan was another player who played (no memory of his playing matches although I am told by family we saw him play at the Dell. Ran a pub at Woolston by the railway arch for quite a few years. As a previous poster said....Brian Clifton....Was always a fan of this very skilful player..not given the credit he deserved......Maybe not hard enough..Grimsby comes to mind. All our yesterdays.....Love it...Now John Page...What a big strong ox he was....
  4. Saints to win 3-0..as i slowly climb the prediction league....hopefully. Lallana, Wotton (30 yd screamer) and Lambert. COYRS 3 points please.
  5. Like many others...Confused..Has anybody put money into the club/paid off any debts or is it just the initial salaries paid last month with money that is now a further debt to Pompey......It would appear to me that none of these minor players has any money and there will now be a scrap over some land that will be deemed worthless. If I have got this wrong..many apologies. How can The premier League and The HM Revunue collecter stand back and let this circus continue......Pompey allegedly owe approaching 100 mil....Slight exageration on my part..it looks better....It is only 90 mil really.
  6. Windows I just don't know how you do it......Respect to you and your football knowledge.....Few more of the highly coached Saints players deserved a place..
  7. AND I thought you were an Admiral:D Now IF you were a real Saints supporter..you would divert your bloooody big Aircraft Carrier back down the M6 and start supporting the Saints. Mind you sum of you Sailors are very fair weather types. COYRs. Respect to allyou Service boyzz and ladies.
  8. I am sure you Could do the Pompey list, Windows...preferably on a Pompey site:D I say this not because of any Pompey slur...but genuinely because I think you may have some overall knowledge of football;) But I suggest all their top list of 50 were trained by the mighty Saints:) COYRs
  9. Now that man is a true legend...RIP...Sadly I had forgotten him.... This curry stuff cum cum may help my dim entia wots your name .. old boy? COYRS Well at least get woggy back for a legends night...
  10. I was under the impression that John Mortimore was more like a Director of Football. To Sir Ted Bates ...The buffer between SIR Lawrence of Mighty Mac and the board. ie Ted...Whatever the connections it seemed to work after an indifferent start. Maybe LM having Ted and John to bounce ideas off and some very sensible senior players signed..made the whole project sound.....Well done Sir Lawrie...one of my heroes. COYRs. Not forgetting the great Sir Leon or my mate Woggy....
  11. Cliff Huxford.......The Gloustershire foghorn.......You could hear him all around the ground on those damp foggy evening games.....Sooo loud. Great captain and as you rightly say...Hard as they come. He went on to work for the coastguard as a lighthouse audible warning signal.
  12. Some of you golden oldies will remember Billy Stroud.......Great man.....For years after retiring....in all weathers ...even into old age...out on that touchline..coaching young players in the old A team.....Respect to him and all he did for Saints. COYRs
  13. Looking through the list and the phots...adding a few others we all think should be on there..... Just goes to show why we can be so proud to support such a great team.....Over the next few years a few more names will be added....COYRs Believe me I am Soooooo proud........She calls out again, 'Its only a blooody game..you anorak'.....CAN I PART EXCHANGE.. her for one of the old bench seats from The Dell? COYRs
  14. Played for Ex Saints ( charity games) for many years after retiring from football.

  21. Give the Brady bunch to Eastleigh, Bashley or Totton as a xmas present...Job Lot so to speak.....
  22. Swap for Holmes....Surman is Bolt to Holmes Geoff Capes.
  23. Thomson is already reaching world class status...A few weeks in Torquay and he will come back a valuable asset to the squad come xmas and our play off run in. Come on Thommo....You can do it my son....Torquay will not really be able to afford his wages. Pards knows this lad is going to be great. COYRS
