This might be the one we were hoping to get over the line next (perhaps the 48 hours report from Talksport?). Looks like the striker situation is going to drag on which is frustrating but expected. We saw haggling over the price for Orsic the day before the ‘here we go’ tweets. If this is really the guy Benfica were looking at to replace Enzo Fernandez then it would be a coup to sign him. Lots of big clubs have reportedly been tracking him. His ability to drive forward with the ball at ease is something we are missing (peak Stu is the only one who gave us that and he often gave it away trying). With him and Orsic in the team we should be getting into dangerous positions for Che to miss more often 😉

Telegraph reported we recently failed in our attempts to convince him to come back and be King of the Scummers. Big shame as he’s exactly what we have been missing, since he left!

I’m assuming he’s just going to be watching from the stands today after the 1 training session yesterday? Probably be another painful watch but do we expect this one to be streamed?

6 weeks without our best CB, we can’t catch a break at the moment. I guess it could have been a season ending ACL, but not ideal at all.

So this guy has been City Academy Director since 2017 and was therefore Joe Shields previous boss when he was at City? Would I be right in thinking that is Joe shields joining was a coup (not that we ever got to see that justified), then this would be an even bigger coup?

I just listened to Gabby Agbonlahor on Talk Sport saying we ‘deserve’ to go down as we always sell our best players and don’t invest in our team. We have a net spend now of £84m, and sold none of our best players this summer. He also said that Nathan Jones will have watched us on training day one and thought ‘what have I done’ citing that his Luton team would have been of a higher quality 😂 How is this man employed, he literally knows nothing. I agree we are likely to go down but nobody can ‘deserve’ anything after 18 games. Luton better than Saints, is he a Portsmouth fan do we think?

2.5 year contract is less than the 4 years rumoured, wonder if there is an option to extend?

Think this is a great signing for us at a great price. His European and international stats are great and he looks to be that fast, direct winger with goalscoring ability. Something none of our current players seem to have the combination of. I think we might actually punish teams on the counter with this guy and even more so if we sign a striker of the required calibre. Could also take pressure of us chasing that ball down after Lyanco hoofs it 😉

A boy can dream…

So we are confident of getting CB, midfielder and Orsic in by the time we play Everton but that doesn’t mean we won’t sign a striker. Frustrating that the most important position is going to take longer to fill. Gutted that we couldn’t convince Ings to come back, I think his goals would have kept us up.
