  1. I want MLG to come on here to say that actually he came from Liege via Paris, then technically goes to the AFCON & then he's coming back to Southampton, so that ticket is actually invalid and won't work.

    Doubts over Monk's Birmingham future....
  4. I'm just happy Ralph is in-charge and will decide what's best - Especially since he's had good chance to look at both of them (& Vokins in training) last season. I'm not remotely surprised we may have to sell a player we wouldn't ideally need to sell in order to raise finance. The Echo article mentioned we may wait until the end of the window, but we would need to spend that money prior to that.
  5. I *think* the theory is if Berty goes, we wouldn’t recruit another left-back.
  6. Agree. An interesting dilemma. We’ve already discussed the Vokins aspect on here. The biggest question from this article is how much would we get IF Berty left? As that (I assume) would go into reinvesting into other positions. The article indicates not a huge fee. I think in that case it’s not worth selling him. I suppose it all comes down to what Ralph thinks. I’ve also always been curious who would want Berty in the top end of the Prem (as everyone is obsessed with young fullbacks now).
  7. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/06/12/aston-villa-target-leeds-united-midfielderkalvin-phillips-14m/?WT.mc_id=tmg_share_tw Nothing mentioned about Targett.

Mane's YouTube video was scuffy, IIRC.
  9. Pretty much what I said too. Hard to sign a ‘Targett replacement’ who’s got real potential to challenge Berty for £10m. Vokins stepping up would mean we’d have an extra £10m to put down on a striker or centre-back.
  10. - K,Billy’s little clue... - Sparkes leaving his current club. - Now following Saints staff Pretty positive signs
  11. TOP TARGETT Aston Villa eye £10m bid for Southampton left-back Matt Targett as Dean Smith continues transfer spending spree: https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/9275947/aston-villa-southampton-matt-targett-dean-smith/
  12. Curious how many interested parties there would be for £200m+
  13. Are we on the market, Eric?

  15. I like Romeu. I think we could improve on him. But not sure the budget stretches anywhere close to signing a class defensive midfielder. Striker & Centre-back are more pressing this summer.
  16. Very quiet on the signing of any new scholars front too. Normally get a few whispers of them leaving their clubs for Saints.
  17. Would agree with this, largely because others can chip in with goals. Nobody can really cover a class centre-back.
  18. Indeed. We play 3 at the back to largely to cover deficiencies of individual defenders. A new defender pretty much needs to combine height & speed for Ralph to use 4-2-2-2. They won’t be cheap.

In theory, he replaces Austin & Sam G in the squad.

Guan said the Gabbi fee received pretty much helped clear the Ings fee.
  21. Was out with a hamstring injury wasn’t he? I imagine he will be good to go for pre-season. Preventing it recurring will be our priority with him from there, I imagine.
  22. Because 'multi-million pound professional football clubs' are NEVER influenced by things agents say.... Yeah right.
  23. Perhaps wages can total to vastly different amounts...
