No - you certainly can't blame them for it - we would bite their hands of for it as would almost any club - but there is no reason why they should be allowed to have it at such a cheap rent - and believe me - in comparison with them developing their own ground it is cheap - whether or not they own it.
But surely that is where "world class"ness is determined. He's a good player - a very good player. It's the "world class" bit I am contesting. Some have said he was in the the top three midfielders in the world at his best. I know that these things are a matter of opinion - but really?
I don't think that any English player of the last 10 years could truly be described as world class - even at their best. They consistently demonstrated that at all international competitions. Who would truly have made a world 11 - including bench? I am afraid that in England there is a tendency to outrageously overrate the better English players. Roooney's good - but world class - I don't think so.
You are entitled to your viewpoint of course but that fact that he was near enough first name of on the team sheet for almost every manager for the past 4 years suggests that there was rather more to his contribution in leagues 1 and Championship than you are allowing him.
I would not want to sell Lambert but if it happened then I agree with your comments about Carroll. He is vastly overpriced and it would need some hard negotiation.
I love the way people on here always seem to want to sell our best players for a pittance. As I've said before, I am glad that no-one on here handles our transfer negotiations. Lambert is worth more to us than 6m.
Agreed - I saw no lack of effort but I did see a serious lack of ideas. Lambert was being given nothing by that new centre back of theirs and it was only when Rodrigues came on to distract him that Rickie started to get the room to play. Apart from that he was given little service by the rest of the team.
