Isn't the truth somewhere in between? We have said no in the past and if your dealing with one player you can manage the situation as a club. When you have 3-4 can you afford to have the much negativity in the squad if you say no to all of them? West broms handling of Berhino didn't exactly go well for them on the other hand ditching that little ***** Lovern worked out ok for us. In the end it probably comes down to the personality of the player some will accept being told no buckle down and play well for you like Morgan. Others will possibly just stop trying and bring the mood of the squad down (allegedly Fonte). We shouldn't look to sell every time by any means but we shouldn't be looking to hold onto everyone as a matter of misplaced pride either. Most importantly if we do sell we need to replace well.

That's my take on it we all know agents are talking to clubs and players all the time. The difference here is actually setting up a meeting between an under contract player and another clubs officials with out permission that seems to be crossing a line.

So you would rather not get to cup finals? Cup finals have to been seen in the context that saints don't get to many there was 14 years between the last two. That's what happens when you sell your best players and replace them with mediocre ones. Up until last summer we had done ok with recruitment. But this season shows were the strategy falls down if you slip up with your recruitment.

Koeman had had a much better squad several of who we flogged and replaced with less talented players and it looks like we are flogging the best again this season so the next guy is going to have an even tougher job.

I'm not convinced the change in style was all Puel. The season before when Koeman was struggling mid season, and ITK brigade suggested he was close to the sack one of the criticism the board apparently had was playing style. I very much suspect that Les wanted a more technical, ball to feet, possession based style which is why he employed Puel in the first place.

I think the issue here is actually meeting the manager. No doubt all clubs talk to representatives of players to sound out potential signings these days but not all clubs fly players contracted to other clubs around the country to meet their manager in secret the line has be drawn somewhere.

Not convinced the new bloke is going to do any better no Bertrand, no VVD, JWP and Davis still in our midfield, Tadic still sulking, Forster still doing the mannequin challenge in goal, and Shane Long still offside. Next season could be even worse unless Les has a cracking transfer window.
