  1. Yeah along with about 90% of the internet all it says is Sky and the mirror are reporting our interest in Martinez.
  2. Is that the same mirror reporting Martinez is being considered?
  3. Martinez again https://a.msn.com/r/2/BBCPpgP?m=en-gb
  4. and to be fair he took Everton to 5th in his first season in charge..
  5. There is a good example of an over priced player right there...mind you that was last summer so he is probably worth 30 million now due to TV money inflation alone..
  6. TBH the ridiculous inflation of player prices means its getting impossible to decide what is good value with regards to player recruitment. You can't really judge if they've (or anyone for that matter) has done good business this summer until the end of next season.
  7. well people said they wanted a more attacking manager I would have thought people would be creaming themselves over a manager with this philosophy after complaining about Puel being negative... Martinez knows his attacking philosophy piles pressure on the defensive side of the game, but he remains unrepentant, insisting it is the only way to beat the top four sides such as Liverpool. “I’m not going to hide anything. Yes the way we set up the team makes defending more difficult – I don’t get any extra enjoyment if you keep a clean sheet if that’s not going to win you a game,” he added. “I know there are managers who want to win through keeping a clean sheet and having a team that’s difficult to beat. But I’m from a philosophy of always wanting to win through scoring goals. “If that’s going to leave you open you need to score more goals than the opposition, that’s the top and bottom of it – the only way you can be good enough to win titles.”
  8. Probably explains why Conte is looking to leave Chelsea due to a lack of say in how things are run.
  9. In all likely hood no one can take us to the next level with out us spending more cash just look at that sort of money being thrown around for players already this season by the big clubs. How the hell are we supposed to match that even worse being a PL club means teams outside the PL want to rinse us for loads of cash for even very average players. I think pushing the next level is going to becoming increasingly difficult.
  10. from the clubs pet jurno Transfer decisions have been largely shaped by executive director Les Reed and recruitment chief Ross Wilson in recent years anyway, with the club’s manager essentially responsible for the preparation of the first-team.* http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/06/07/claude-puel-faces-sack-southampton-have-found-replacement/
  11. in what way? We have a reputation for selling off our best players, the club has stated many times that the manager has a very limited role with regards to player recruitment, we just sacked the last manager for finish 8th and reaching a cup final (and yes we can debate how good an achievement that was but from a prospective managers point of view it doesn't look like good job security) and we have no European football to offer. I really don't think we are as attractive as people like to think
  12. as opposed to the current 23s coach with his wealth of coaching experience that worked so well for our under 23s this season?
  13. Are Everton the new West ham now? at this rate they'll have a squad of 50+ players
  14. errmm why aren't saints surely this bloke would be a good shout for the under 23s coach?
  15. ahh yes realistic fans creaming themselves over Tuchel and Emery
  16. Why? the club is listening to the fans wishes they wanted him gone and they got it...
  17. Having had Morgan and Victor (hell even Jack Cork) in recent seasons our central midfield is currently pretty crappy (Romeu aside) Davis is OK but 32 and the other three are all a bit meh (and lets not forget the new Paul Scholes who has pretty much disappeared of the face of the earth). We clearly need to work on that part of the team the worry is that Les "we have the best midfield option in the league" Reed might not see that.
  18. errr yeah Northern Ireland captain Steven Davis has been awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List. The 32-year-old midfielder, who has earned 95 caps for his country, has been recognised for services to football. He said he was “hugely proud” and “totally honoured” to receive an award from the Queen. “It is just a huge honour for both myself and my family,” he insisted.
  19. Basically looked good at Liverpool while he had Luis Suárez and has done well in the easiest job in football at Celtic there has to better available than Brenda..
  20. At this rate we will be promoting Radhi Jaïdi...
  21. Paolo Di Canio or Gus Poyet it is then....
  22. John McDonnell urges one million people to join London march and 'force a new election' John McDonnell has called for one million people to join a mass march in a bid to force a new election. The shadow chancellor told trade union bosses that Labour needed every union to be mobilised and urged protesters to "get out on the streets". http://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/john-mcdonnell-urges-one-million-people-to-join-london-march-and-force-a-new-election/ar-BBCLC2M?li=AA59G2&ocid=spartandhp
  23. Two seasons he has been here and you can pick out one good game that pretty much sums him up.... I'd rather see JWP start in central midfield which is a damning indictment of how poor our midfield has become
