Funny I just posted that on another thread. He is spot on when was the last time we had a team this settled?

Solent interview with rickie (paraphrasing). Solent bod "Do you practice all those little one twos around the box in trainning?" Rickie " you can't really practice that in trainning but we've been playing together the best part of two years we just know the others game really well" That is what it comes down to for me a settled team who know each other really well, I really don't want to add anymore players at the moment we've got a lot of (IMO) good players who can't get in the team as it is. Team spirit and a settled team is going to take us far. Quite frankly (I know it's only three games in) we seem a step above most championship teams already.

These days I kind of expect a saints win. I thought two matches into this season that would have changed as we were rudely shown how good championship teams are............... but as we've won our first two matches with ease (bar the last 10mins on saturday) I expect us to win tonight with another great display. 2-0 Lambert to get his first goal in the championship.

How about a mass brawl ending in 22 sendings off all for violent conduct, meaning we have to play Ipswich reserves/ second string, and both Hull and Ipswich are docked 10 pts as punishment. Don't reckon that would of done us any harm......

I'd have him back fast and direct was always good to watch. TBH I think Reading screwed him over we wanted him he wanted to come here reading got greedy and his devolopment ended up stalled another season with us in league one would have done him the world of good.

Blimey it's like a list of shattered dreams. Join saints as a kid dream of PL one day end up playing for winchester or some such.....

Seems strange to be spending that sort of money now, the last couple of seasons we've been picking up some good players for a lot less. Heavens knows what it will be like in the PL. On MOTD the other night they were saying Arsenal haven't spent any money this season I assume 12-15 million for untried kid is small change these days......

According to the beeb Cardiff City are setting the early Championship pace as three first-half goals beat Bristol City. lets hope we can keep up with them eh............

No I don't. Which is why we will never be like Barca if Messi had come through the youth ranks here we'd have lost him at 16 .As much as I love southampton FC we are never going to have the draw the "big" clubs do which makes building a team out of home grown youth pretty difficult IMO. On the other hand if we can keep getting the Arse to pay as silly money every few years for one of our youth players we might not need to.

We are never going to be like Barca as the club has just demonstrated we can't hold on to our youth products......

Not on here. Apparently you either support everything the club does without question ........or you have some big anti saints agenda. Shades of grey are over the heads of some posters on here. I sometimes wonder if everything in their lives is so black and white?

Swindon please - all those losses to them hurt the last two seasons. Last seasons game at home helped but it would be nice to go to their place and thump them good and proper a lay the ghosts to rest.

I've said upper mid-table for this season so far. I think one game (admittedly a game we won very well) into the season and a new LB is a bit early for me to start changing my mind that we are now dead on certs for auto promotion........

yeah I see loads of Leeds car stickers and such like down here all the time, no doubt like lots of northerners they moved down south were it is nice.

I expect some fans and the club to have different ideas though. All club chairmen will want promotion (at least in public) supporters can choose what they want to aim for. Personally I'm in no hurry to get back to the PL (which I see as responsible for all that is wrong with modern football in this country) I would never expect the club to think like that though.

It will probably come down to wheather the new guy can play with Adam then. Say what you like about Harding but he and Adam play very well together two seasons of playing together means they read each others game pretty well. Dickson never seemed to get that going with Adam.

Didn't Oldham fans reckon that kid we had on loan last season was the next Stevie Gerrad? There's only one way to decide how good a signing is and that's to see them play a dozen times.

Replacement for Dickson then. I wonder who Mills upset to be pushed out after looking so promising a couple of seasons ago? I have to admit I was expecting a CB to partner Fonte. Still welcome on to the bus Danny (how many Dans do we have now?)

yes but he would have been better off waiting 12months and then he would have had the rest of the football league backing him up against the press.
