If that was the best that football can do I'll stick with the Championship. That was an utterly shite and boring game of football.
-
Understandable when you've got nothing better to do than spend your life smoking crack and drinking meths while waiting for your next benefit cheque
-
I was thinking sack him, but then saw Saint loyal's posts and realised I needed to give my head a wobble. Sacking him would be an irrational overreaction - I was there to begin with, but the only reason we're having the spy gate discussion is because Tonda pulled off a miracle (albeit partially by cheating) and got us into the playoffs in the first place.
-
What a dreadful idea. He's looked average at best since he left us, still has no pace and not a lot other than a set piece delivery. Time to move on from signing yesterday's players and being disappointed: Walcott, lallana, Romeu have shown it's another Sports Republic flawed idea.
-
I'm starting to change my mind and think we should keep him, but there should be a serious from the heart grovelling apology, some serious commitment to doing something in the community, etc to try and reset the optics. The longer the silence goes on the less authentic this will come across and the harder it will be to move on. Also, the club need to come out and say no matter what they will throw the kitchen sink at us getting promoted next year.
-
Maybe it is only these 3 teams who had training sessions that were so easily spied on?
-
For me I think if we kept him we'd continue to be successful; the players that stuck around would forget quickly and us fans would be happy once we were winning, but this isn't about success, it is about optics and showing a little bit of remorse for what we've done as a club. We need to sack him before the FA inevitably ban him - the FA as another bunch of moronic cock wombles will ban him - we're not important enough to them for them so they'll throw us under the bus for their own image. Unfortunately the whole saga is about optics rather than the right thing.

I'm still wondering when the EFL are going to deal with Boro trying to influence an ongoing investigation through misinformation spread via the media/social media?
-
A Hull win is the "right" thing for all concerned, but you can bet your bottom dollar that Gibbo the prick will try and sue us or the EFL if Karen FC don't go up.
-
Given that observing training is allegedly a widespread practice there needs to be a holistic investigation. The club need to push hard for this. Someone then also needs to look at statistical anomalies like the crazy number of penalties Ipswich received this year. My belief is that cheating is rife - the money at stake is far too tempting for it only to be us that have done something wrong. The difference is we're just shit at getting away with it.

-4 points in the championship from mid table in the premier league. This is what we have achieved. Coming soon, Rasmus' new ted talk: If it isn't broke, break it.... then fuck it up and turn it into a collosal pile of shite
-
A young manager and a young analyst have done something stupid and we've been punished for it. I don't condone what they've done at all, but equally think they shouldn't be hung out to dry. The punishment is what it is. It needs to be applied consistently going forwards. A precedent has been set, but you can bet your bottom dollar that certain clubs will continue to get away with cheating and there will be no consistency. I'm not cross with the club, nor the EFL. I'm just disillusioned with football in general, a game I love that is sadly broken because it's run by wankers who love status and money and couldn't give a shit about us fans or the volunteer based system that props football up. Having said that I'll undoubtedly be back for more punishment next year!
-
Wishful thinking, but I can only hope saints have some evidence of others (hopefully Boro) doing it to us. That would then open an enormous can of worms that the EFL couldn't cope with.
-
It all seems simple to me ... - if Boro didn't want to be spied on they would have made the smallest effort to hide their training pitches from the public. Not doing could be seen as entrapment especially if as has been reported observation is rife in the league - if Boro respected due process they wouldn't have released the photo, Will Salts identity or told everyone what the outcome should be - If Boro/Gibbo had any integrity they wouldn't have been party to a breach of GDPR and this would be the first case like this that they had raised Throw the book at them.
-
I hope regardless of the outcome that someone throws the book at whingeboro for trying to influence the outcome of the proceedings using the media and social media. If this was a legal case Boro would have broken the law.

The Middlesbrough 2026 Appreciation Thread

Definitely worth complaining. -
It's amazing how many pundits have come out against us in this... I do wonder if this was about Liverpool if there would be the same hysteria
-
This horrific biased and unbalanced trial by media bollocks is boiling my piss. Just listened to some twat from the Times saying that points deduction or a fine wouldn't be sufficient based on his assumption that Middlesbrough do actually have more evidence than they've already presented. The only evidence in the public domain is pretty weak and if middlesborough had such a hardon about people watching their super secret training why hasn't anyone in the media mentioned anything about them building a fence around their training ground?
-
Are we or are we simply asking for a proportionate punishment?
-
Blimey. The English law stuff is beyond mental.... Fraud??? 🤯 🤯
-
Completely agree. Until we are back to where it all began all they've achieved is taking us backwards. Great 6 months and for once we don't have a complete helmet as a manager, but there is a lot to make up for.
-
Gibson is a cunt and has form for this sort of bollocks. Can't wait until something comes out about his club. All he needed to do is build a fence FFS! Talk about not taking responsibility for his own ineptitude.
-
Couldn't agree more re it's good that we see things differently! I like Charles when he plays further forward, just think he's poor defensively (which is weird when the opposite was true under Still). Having watched back the highlights tonight I stand by my comments about him marking poorly - he's got a nasty habit of leaving too much space in dangerous areas. As for Azaz I can see why people think he's a bit anonymous, but the clever stuff he does with the ball makes up for it for me - we don't have anyone else who can spot some of the passes he makes/attempts and he's one that I think will get better if we go up and buy some better players to fit around him. Let's hope for another goal like the one he scored against city!
-
Charles was good from the second half onwards, but let's not forget how shit he was in the first half - more propaganda football. Shit marking, shit tackling, poor passing and didn't close his man down at all for the Middlesbrough goal. There were many better performances than Charles last night and a cross that accidentally went in shouldn't paper over those cracks. Agree re Manning he was immense alongside the rest of the back four. Azaz was very good and Stewart provided the outlet that Larin couldn't give in the previous game. For me Jander was unbelievable - tried to hold the midfield by himself in the first half and absolutely bossed it for the rest of the game - couldn't have won the ball more times...

Tin foil hats on for this one....Tonight's ref, Andy Madley loves a Middlesbrough win by the looks of things: 14 wins, 1 draw and 7 losses versus his record for us which is pretty balanced 5w, 3d and 4l. Make of that what you will...
