  1. It's not a proper transfer thread in my book until someone asks if we've signed Rudi Skacel yet
  2. Perhaps Russ is more interesting than the absolute nothing that is going on with us at the moment?
  3. I see Russ is following his playbook and has kept Tavernier as his stag do leader (and undoubtedly shoein number 1) https://www.ibroxnoise.co.uk/2025/06/russell-martin-announces-his-rangers-captain-and-fans-are-fuming/ Needless to say he's already pissed off the fans by appointing someone who isn't rated by them, has been at the heart of their problems, but who is a proper good lad!
  4. I wonder if that will be the trigger that sends Brentford spiralling down to their natural place in the EFL? That's bound to please the premier league as it would mean that a bigger club that will drive bigger commercial results like Leeds could have a space at the table.
  5. If he managed 4th with us having the 3rd best squad, I wonder what that means for Rangers who are still some distance from Celtic? How much "scar tissue" is there at Rangers for Martin to overcome? How long will Rangers have to trust the process for? Will the Rangers players be brave enough to make Martin successful? How much will Rangers have to pay to get players like Bazunu and Manning on the bus?
  6. This summer, winter and next summer...
  7. Much as I hope we will replace him if we get back to the premier league, he's shown he can do a very good job in the championship. If we bounce straight back we've got 3 windows to assemble a team capable of staying up - Armstrong would be a player we could afford to replace in the 3rd window.
  8. I'm not sure you need data to see that we're shit at defending and shit at set pieces. Just eyes and a very vague knowledge of the game is good enough. Hopefully he's also able to spot that we are woefully inept at scoring goals!
  9. Welcome onboard Will. From the little I've read and heard it seems like he's got his head screwed on and he'll deliver some much needed pragmatism. It will be interesting to see if we abandon 3 at the back in favour of 4-3-3 - I can only hope so!
  10. Can he take Bazunu with him?
  11. On that basis given that rusk hasn't done any worse than the previous 2 shows how utterly shite they both were don't you think?
  12. (oops missing quote)
  13. Says an awful lot about the helmets who've been playing for us over the last few years - they want the limelight when things are going well, but go AWOL when things are going bad. I really hope we see a shift in the sort of characters we bring into the club - starting by not having an egomaniac manager like Jones or Martin.
  14. Maybe they realise our Russell is a bit shit?
  15. Least of our problems.... We're getting nothing from the lineup or players either
  16. Is he though or is he carrying out an instruction from above.... When SR came in Ralph suddenly switched to playing 5 at the back - it didn't work, he switched to a 4 and then was sacked. He was replaced by the little Welsh twat who insisted on playing 5 at the back despite it not working. Martin started I'm the championship with 5 at the back, but had to switch to a 4 when Stephens was out and suddenly went became decent at defending, but then reverted to a 5 once Stephens was back... It all just stinks of interference from above.
  17. Let's see. How do you define star quality? Is it his inability to break into the 2nd shittest PL team ever? Or perhaps his demonstrable inability to play in anything other than a russball system? Maybe it's his lovely floppy hair?
  18. Because he's a player better suited to the pace of the Italian league perhaps?
  19. We conceded 63 goals in the championship - 20 more than Leeds and 22 more than Leicester. We were hardly "above the level of the championship" from a defensive point of view. Bednarek was very much part of that. He's been substandard season after season and is one of a number of players we just need to move on from.
  20. MLG hasn't bitten yet to question your source... You're losing your touch Turkish
  21. I'm my head the style of play should be more of a vision statement and the strategy might be to recruit people to fulfil the vision. The strategy could also be to grow our own talent. On the other hand our vision might be to create a platform to grow and sell players. I'm which case the strategy might be to be led by someone someone who could bring out the best of players, but then the style of play would be irrelevant and could be a recruitment decision.
  22. Seems a sensible strategy to get him a few games to see if we can get him back to some sort of form
  23. Not sure why everyone thinks Ipswich are suddenly a brilliant team? Delap aside they really aren't that special by championship standards. They got up through consistency and confidence. The confidence won't be the same next season.
