The Middlesbrough 2026 Appreciation Thread

Definitely worth complaining. -
It's amazing how many pundits have come out against us in this... I do wonder if this was about Liverpool if there would be the same hysteria
-
This horrific biased and unbalanced trial by media bollocks is boiling my piss. Just listened to some twat from the Times saying that points deduction or a fine wouldn't be sufficient based on his assumption that Middlesbrough do actually have more evidence than they've already presented. The only evidence in the public domain is pretty weak and if middlesborough had such a hardon about people watching their super secret training why hasn't anyone in the media mentioned anything about them building a fence around their training ground?
-
Are we or are we simply asking for a proportionate punishment?
-
Blimey. The English law stuff is beyond mental.... Fraud??? 🤯 🤯
-
Completely agree. Until we are back to where it all began all they've achieved is taking us backwards. Great 6 months and for once we don't have a complete helmet as a manager, but there is a lot to make up for.
-
Gibson is a cunt and has form for this sort of bollocks. Can't wait until something comes out about his club. All he needed to do is build a fence FFS! Talk about not taking responsibility for his own ineptitude.
-
Couldn't agree more re it's good that we see things differently! I like Charles when he plays further forward, just think he's poor defensively (which is weird when the opposite was true under Still). Having watched back the highlights tonight I stand by my comments about him marking poorly - he's got a nasty habit of leaving too much space in dangerous areas. As for Azaz I can see why people think he's a bit anonymous, but the clever stuff he does with the ball makes up for it for me - we don't have anyone else who can spot some of the passes he makes/attempts and he's one that I think will get better if we go up and buy some better players to fit around him. Let's hope for another goal like the one he scored against city!
-
Charles was good from the second half onwards, but let's not forget how shit he was in the first half - more propaganda football. Shit marking, shit tackling, poor passing and didn't close his man down at all for the Middlesbrough goal. There were many better performances than Charles last night and a cross that accidentally went in shouldn't paper over those cracks. Agree re Manning he was immense alongside the rest of the back four. Azaz was very good and Stewart provided the outlet that Larin couldn't give in the previous game. For me Jander was unbelievable - tried to hold the midfield by himself in the first half and absolutely bossed it for the rest of the game - couldn't have won the ball more times...

Tin foil hats on for this one....Tonight's ref, Andy Madley loves a Middlesbrough win by the looks of things: 14 wins, 1 draw and 7 losses versus his record for us which is pretty balanced 5w, 3d and 4l. Make of that what you will...
-
Before the media go clutching their pearls about our spies perhaps someone should ask the question why media favourites Ipswich got over 60% more penalties than the next team and more than 3 times the number we got...
-
I don't think this is the problem.... Leo and fellows werent very effective in the first half - in the second Azaz looked a lot better once he wasn't being expected to feed off scrappy long balls with Larin
-
I wouldn't start Charles - he's been ghastly when he's started recently. I'd keep faith with Azaz and bring Charles in for him if he has a bad 1st half.
-
Why is no one asking middlesboro why they didn't build a fence FFS? Their set up invites problems
-
Job done. Woeful 1st half - very poor from all the attackers. Much better in the 2nd - Ross made a huge difference
-
Ha ha, can't believe something so trivial has blown up like this. What a bunch of melts!
-
100% this. Shows what a bunch of absolute noddies run Middlesboro. Come on you spies!!!
-
I really don't see where the hype about Charles comes from. Yes he's chipped in with a couple of goals, but he's turned into a propaganda player - covers lots of yards but without any real purpose, constantly slows the game down by taking too many touches and keeps his passing stats good by mostly playing sideways. He started the season well, but I can't remember the last time he had a good game.
-
I thought Shea did well at right back today and then was poor when he switched into the middle. We really need to keep him away from the middle of the pitch - we instantly surrendered control of the game as soon as he went there.
-
He could be decent there. Would suit his game and give us someone else capable of pinging some accurate long balls
-
Damien Downs is the complete mystery to me. No exaggeration... watching him warm up it was obvious he had a poor touch and didn't seem to kick a ball properly. As soon as he started a competitive game it was clear that he didn't have the fight for the game. What the hell did the scouts/recruitment team see in him?
-
To be honest I think Still's "tactics" suited him better. Tonda's fast transition, high energy game doesn't seem to suit him especially when he starts a game. Personally I'd like to see him further forward in an alternative for Azaz as he's got an eye for goal and I think he could be effective in those occasional games where Azaz isn't.
-
Only he did nothing of the sort. He's a potential match winner very infrequently, but also slows us down every time he has to have 3 touches before moving the ball sideways.
-
Shea Charles with the ultimate propaganda performance tonight. What exactly is he saving himself for? Everyone else put in a shift but Charles trots around like a useless twat. Never have I seen such a pathetic performance in such an important game. Rant over.

That was properly funny
