Players should think a little longer before signing 5 year deals and declaring that they would be more than happy to play for the club for the rest of their career. Just shows how fickle it all is.
-
In addition we seem willing to sell anyone who is good enough. Pointless other than £.
-
Ralph isn't CEO. Gareth Rogers is.
-
The whole set up just seems very amateur
-
What the F does Gareth Rogers do?
-
Doesn't matter, whoever it is won't be anywhere near as good
-
Both have been happy and ready to sign for months, could and should have been sorted out by now. I very much doubt that anything which is happening is all part of some planned PR crusade.
-
What could be delaying contract extensions for Cork and Fonte? You would think that these would be quick and easy PR wins in amongst the ****e... What an utter disaster if we end up losing players like that In addition, Rodriguez is due a contract extension and has been since he made the appearance threshold in his original contract. Can't see him wanting to sign one now.

If Cortese said exactly that and a day later agreed a deal for Lambert I'm sure a certain posters answer to the question would be slightly different
-
He did say that we are in full control of transfers which is presumably why the Lambert deal is being rushed through because that's what Liverpool want

England World Cup Squad - Lambert, Lallana and Shaw included

So we can't afford half a Lovren without selling Lambert?
-
Doesn't matter if Lambert is 25 or 50. He's still a massively important player for us. £4M is no compensation for his departure. How many games have we won without him? We still can't win without him and haven't been able to replace him.
-
Massively out of his depth. Doesn't seen to understand football culture and seems to default to non-football related stuff when faced with key questions on the playing front.

If I had summarised my thoughts as well as you I maybe could have avoided the abuse and ridicule over the last few weeks. Good post.

One of the mouth breathers will be along in a minute to quote you and start talking about financial restraints and how we can't spend 200M like City, completely missing the point in the process.
-
It will have happened but probably for clubs in a desperate financial situation. If this is all a simple a case of us being a victim of our own success, we need strong leadership to keep what we can intact and diligently manage the situation, none of which appears to he happening.

I personally have always thought Lambert is absolute class and it's been a pleasure to watch him lead our line over the years. If we take everything in isolation you can argue the rationale behind it and conclude that it's not so bad in the grand scheme of things. Even when you look alone at the Lambert deal, there is reason for concern. 4M for our Rickie Lambert? He's priceless to us IMO. So far, poch and the coaching team have left and Lambert is going. Others will leave too. We are currently managerless, coachless and unable to resolve contracts for players who aren't as in demand as the obvious lot. Perhaps the stars will re-align over the summer but I very much doubt it.

Unfortuntely, you can't control any solutions. Admire the positivity but all the signs and signals coming out of the club are extremely poor.
-
Except Rodriguez won't be fit until around November without any set backs and isn't as good playing as a CF.
-
Each to their own though, I don't understand 1) why it's surprising that people are concerned about what seems to be happening and 2) why people are so bothered about how people are reacting to it. If people decide to roll things up into high level perspectives, comparing now to 2008 or even just reverting to the classic "I'll support the team whatever", it takes something away from why we all follow our club... To watch us prosper and hopefully achieve something. Just because fans stick with clubs through the bad times, it doesn't mean we shouldn't question the decision makers at the club when things clearly don't add up.
-
Hopefully we can get someone in who did a bit of marketing for apple and an exciting CFO appointment. Everthing else is fine because we have a scouting network in place.

Lose a strong, technically skilled centre forward talisman and replace him with an Italian midget? Good one Jeff. Are you angling for a role as the clubs new spin doctor? You would do a better job than Ralf to be fair.
