True. I hope we find better imports than Steve though! -
Not at all......have you seen how much Villa spunked on players to scrape a top 6 finish? Have you seen what Man City are paying to achieve what they have? Look at what Liverpool have spunked to get near a top 8 finish. Newcastle also pay 60k p/w wages and spent £11m on a striker. When we start doing that, then we can start aiming high. Unfortunately without massive investment we will doddle around in mid-table. There's no getting away from that, and I've not seen any evidence that we will start to spend beyond our means - as that's what we'll need to do. I'm not sure why people seem to think we're going to turn into this mega club in a year or 2?

If's a tricky one, you don't want to fill your squad with relegated players - but the relegated teams do have some gems in them. I still think the best approach is to sign the best young players from the league(s) below- Rhodes, Phillips, Ince, Rodriquez, Trippier, Kasper.. -

Davis will start for us next year and he deserves a 2nd crack in the premier league. I expect we'll sign a younger keeper who has the potential to take over Davis in a year or so, someone who doesn't have the nerves of Bart...! -
That's not what he said at all? If Nicola's ambition is for us to be in the top 4, then he will need to invest insane amounts of money in the short-term to get us there. If he does that then we can get excited. If he wants us to be sustainable, which I think we all believe is the case, then we will not achieve that. Consolidation, sustainability and mid-table premiership seasons is probably about us far as we can go without massive investment. I don't think that's lacking ambition, I think it's being pretty much realistic and the people who are dreaming of Top 4 are just setting themselves up for a fall. Next year will not be as easy as some are anticipating.
-
Calm down. I have a feeling you'll be a very frustrated fan in the coming years.
-
Absolutely spot on.
-
No disrepect, but the people who think we'll be in the champions league in the short-term are ridiclous. 'Imagine a team' is exactly it...we have to imagine it, because we sold them all as bigger clubs tempt them away. That won't change in the premier league, although we may be able to keep hold of them a year longer. We are talking decades if we're relying on our youth players to come through and propel us onto the next level, in the short-term we'd need to spend 50-100m - which we will not do. If other fans were reading this they'd be laughing their socks off, it's embarrassing. We've just come up from the Championship. Calm down people.

So no club event to celebrate the season that is open to all then?

This summer is going to drag. -
I'm just keeping my feet on the ground! We need to make sure we're still a premiership club in a year, worrying about Champions league football is a pipe dream...! If people have those ambitions then I fear they'll be very frustrated for years to come, but I'd love to be proven wrong.
-
To achieve champions league qualification it will require us to spend an insane amount of money, which we do not have and will not spend. I will be delighted with us if we're a stable and established premier league club - and I think we're more than capable of achieving that within a few years. Getting from L1 to the premiership in 3 years is in a totally different league than qualifying for the champions league.
-
From Defoe to Mcleod in 3 years, awesome.
-
Why are people still saying they'll miss 3pm kick offs? We will have more 3pm kick offs next year than we had in the 2nd half of this season.
-
'Going to the top' doesn't necessarily mean winning the league though, it's just a turn of phrase. We're aiming to be a sustainable premiership club, and we will never spend millions on players to achieve what you want. The focus is on developing the youth setup and having most of our first team from the youth team, that's the plan because we're not going to spend millions on players. We want to develop our own. If we develop players of a certain calibre and keep them here, then who knows - we may have a chance in a decade or two, but in the near future it's a pipe dream.
-
Man City have spent near on £600m, not just on players, but wages, infrastructure, stadium purchasing etc. We will not achieve what they have as we do not have that finance. It's fair to dream, but you have to be realistic about it...

So much for not moving too far from his brother -
We will not qualify for the champions league, or compete for the premier league. That will never happen at this football club, let's be realistic. What is possible though is creating a sustainable and established premiership club, which can compete in the cups and flirt with the top 6/7 places in the league. That's probably the maximum this club can achieve in all honesty.

Not me, but there are a few pics on twitter

I wouldn't want him near this club again, we have a different type of player here these days. Not ****s. + If we were to buy another striker, they'd need to be better than Lambert. -
Maybe it is.

Trust the club. Jos wasn't very exciting either at the time. -
Don't be silly. Our close season last year was perfection and I'd be delighted if this years followed the same pattern.
-
This has been such a shambolic game of football to be honest, total dross.
-
I reckon ours will be between 600-800. Just a hunch.
