Agreed, I don't think we're playing badly as a team - but individually we've got a few iffy performers at the moment who are letting the side down. We're much better than we were a few weeks back, when our performances were labored and lacklustre - but we now have a zip and a bit of dynamic play about us, so I don't think it's too long before the results come. If we were playing awful and not creating chances then I'd be worried for the long term.

Injured as far as I know, has been carrying a frustrating niggle since Christmas. He may have got over that by now, really not sure - but I know Adkins has said he was injured not so long ago.

But surely the last thing you do when you have a slump is change everything, or even contemplate changing everything? Everyone has to pull together because that's how we got where we are, some people will say it's a cliche but I think it makes such a difference if all areas of the club are pulling the same way. The moment divides start is the moment we are in trouble. As I said, I think he's done enough for us to earn a little bit of slack IMO. We'll come good and we'll look back on this thread in April and laugh at it, the same way we all had a good laugh at the ''playoffs it is'' thread from last year - after we lost to wallsall.

Was nice to see Theo > Chamberlain - GOAL! over the weekend. Made in Southampton etc. We're probably the first club at this end of the country that parents look to for bringing through their kid. Our reputation is huge and our turnout of players is so impressive, we're having such an impact on English football as we're producing future premier league stars.

I agree re: fox too. He's not a bad player, but he just seems to have less effect on a game as the weeks go by. The crossing from both sides has dipped and I hope they're working on that in training!
-
I read that from his comments too, definitely not happy with a few experienced players. Guly didn't do himself any favours as he's struggling to get back in the team now IMO.

There's a chance Jos could be back for this according to NA - that would be a huge boost.

Nice to hear the views from someone from the match - glad to hear Lee looked decent, as I always think you need to read more into a player rather than his missed chances (which people on here seem to be doing). I generally am starting to think Harding isn't quite good enough at the top end of this league, decent player, but is getting shown up quite a bit by decent players at this level. He's had quite a few shockers recently.

We signed Sharp, one of the top strikers at this level, not sure what else you were expecting there? Not sure why we need a new RB either, seeing as Richardson has been my unsung hero this year. (Although he possibly doesn't have that competition behind him) Puncheon coming back into the fold is like a new winger signing too, so I'd say we addressed all the positions apart from additional CB cover. That's where we look a bit stretched IMO. I think we lack another left footed centre back, as Martin has always looked awkward on the right side to me. From what I was told we were still aiming to get Collins tied up in the loan window, so we'll see.

To be honest I was just interested in his general play, link up, movement, physicality etc - missed chances don't always tell the whole story, will be interesting to hear what his all round game was like - because if it's decent, the goals will come.

I don't think this game should be taken into account regarding our league form - because it's not, it's just a single replay. Disapointing all the same because it was an oppertunity tonight. What I've seen in the league over the last few weeks is a slow return to form, we've got a nice unbeaten run going (in the league..) and apart from the Leicester home game we have been getting better - IMO. Saturday is a whole new kettle of fish, and I do think it's important we win that one because the longer this results slump goes on the more restless the fan base will become, and the more un-confident the players will become (and nervous tbf). But Adkins is the man to guide us through it, I have no doubts or worries about that. This is his worst spell with us, no question, but I think he's earnt himself a bit of leeway with the fanbase - well I'd have hoped he would have.
-
I hope that's the case, and I'd have hoped that what he's done for us has gained the respect and trust of everyone.
-
This is where I've kind of got a few question marks at the mo. I think we're being shown up by a few of the bigger sides in this league in terms of real squad depth. I think WHU, Brum etc have got more premiership experience in their sides and that seems to now be coming to the fore. That may be our undoing, I think we've got a decent team though - don't get me wrong. Just fearing that the real quality teams in thiss league are now starting to turn up.

People texting into Solent and saying Warnock for manager. Please get a grip. Our fans are pathetic sometimes.
-
He said the same to the Charlton chairman when we were -10 points in L1. I think he gets a little excited sometimes. I do think that's now our target though, seeing as we've been up there for so long. Whether we've got the squad to maintain it is a totally different question.

How was Lee? (apart from those chances he missed)
-
Nope, it's been **** quite frankly. That doesn't mean the manager needs to go at any point in the near future though. There's a bigger picture to take into account in terms of what NA is building long term, and what he's done for us before this slump.
-
It does make you wonder, I must admit! I'm hopeful he's learnt from those mistakes though.
-
I think he's struggling to get anywhere near the team to be honest. Can't see a place for him when we've got De Ridder, Puncheon, Barnard, Sharp, Lee, Chaplow - all available as reserve attacking options.
-
I think it's important to win though. The longer we go without a win, the harder it will be to get out of this slump - especially at home. We need a confidence boost and quick, and we need our winning mentality back. We need a win ASAP and that has to be on Saturday IMO.
-
I'm hopeful that NA has earnt his trust for the long term- which I feel he should have.
-
They can, that's the most frustrating thing at the moment. You have to sometimes take into account that the opposition see that as our strength, and maybe they are getting to us quicker and making it harder to whip the balls up and over? Hence the constant blocking of a cross. Just a thought. Teams seem to be sussing us out quite a lot these days, and we've become pretty easy to play against and quite predictable at times. Hopefully players like Lee, Sharp and a returning Puncheon will give us some of our unpredictability back.
-
I think the criticism against him is wrong at the moment. I think he's done enough to earn everyone's trust in him, including the chairman. If I trust anyone to get us out of this slump then its Adkins. He knows the players, he knows the squad, and the coaching staff and himself know what they have to do to get us out of this - I'm sure of it. The problem is our start has raised the expectations beyond anything that was expected. Our squad isn't really a top 2 squad, in my opinion. We're a good championship team, but I think teams like Cardiff, Birmingham, WHU etc are now catching us up as I feel they have better all round squads for this level - which comes as no surprise seeing as they've been up here for years. It will be an amazing achievement to finish in the top 2 with the squad we have and the teams we're up against, just a bit of reality IMO.

Nigel sounded quite concerned and fed up in that interview. Got the feeling that a couple of players just aren't doing it for him.
-
to be honest I don't understand the views towards this game meaning nothing. It means a huge deal in the fact we haven't won for ages, and this was a great opportunity to boost our confidence. In fact we've lost the game in the worst possible way and that's only going to hit our confidence.
