I would imagine it's finally the confirmation of Lee, although they may shock us all.....

Let's not get carried away by our last two results, especially Saturday. We played well but we had so much room to operate in, and we used it so well. Forest were diabolical in the 2nd half, 10 men or not...you usually see more of an effort from the opposition. Games away at places like Doncaster are more telling. When you don't have that time and space, you need another option, and a cross field ball to the head of Lambert is sometimes that option.

Biggest threat to promotion besides West Ham?
S-Clarke replied to BrokenGusBus's topic in The Saints
Brum are a threat, but they are in dire financial difficulties and this window could end all hope for them if they have to sell. (which it's rumored they will) Cardiff are a good side, no doubts, but I feel that their cup exploits will leave them with a bit of catchup to do. I'd say Boro are probably our biggest threat, they'll never concede too many goals - and they've just gone out and got another striker, so they're well stocked in that dept. But let's not forget Reading too....on an amazing run at the mo and they've shown that they're a good team. The signing of Gorrks has been a masterstroke for them. -
Who is this week's mystery signing?
S-Clarke replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
Exactly - spot on. The attitude will need to change otherwise we'll stop progressing. There is only so far we can go with this current bunch of lads, no disrespect to them, but if the target is really established in the premier league then we'll need to spend some decent cash. -
It's stories like this which make me detest Portsmouth even more. What they owe and what they've got away with is probably levels above what Darlington ever did, yet look.....they're about to go out of business, yet Portsmouth are still paying players pretty big wages. The football league need to have a long hard look at themselves.

your club has no chane of getting a celtic star player .
S-Clarke replied to hooper88's topic in The Saints
All clubs have idiots, let's not class them all the same. Celtic fans aren't a bad bunch in all honesty, good friendly lot in real life. -
Not sure if it's already been covered in here....but you seem a pretty fair poster, what was your opinion of Jos when he was up there? I don't think he ever got a fair crack of the whip? At this level he looks utter class, and could easily player higher IMO.

Who is this week's mystery signing?
S-Clarke replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
I think that's just typical NA response really, pretty sure Blackpool lodged a formal bid. We probably have got a fair few bob in loan fees, but I was told in the summer that we wanted £1m for Puncheon and no less and that's why he went on loan again. I wish we could just be done with him and move on to be honest.... -
West Ham won't be as that's a mid week game, and afaik it's champions league week and that takes priority there. Would expect the skates game to be moved to TV at some point.

Who is this week's mystery signing?
S-Clarke replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
He's not been great for them and was well over priced, but that's the way football works unfortunately..especially in this country and especially for attacking players. As we showed Arsenal with Chamberlain, the selling club holds all the cards and the buying club can't decide the end fee, even if they feel that's what the player is worth. -
Who is this week's mystery signing?
S-Clarke replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
Hooper's initial bid was pretty awful to say the least if what I was told is true, less than £1m initial fee, rest on add on's (not sure how much it went up to, but probably lots of clauses that would have taken years to activate) This is pretty vague and not 100% on the truth behind it, but 500k for Whittingham at Cardiff was lodged and laughed out of the room. If we haven't got the money then fine, I'm not bothered....go after more realistic targets! We're wasting everyone's time and creating enemies! -
Guly looked excellent in my opinion. Led the line well, held the ball up, used it well and dropped off into nice pockets of space which kept opening up. It was probably one of his better performances away this season, as he's never been great away from home. He's an enigma, but an 11 goal enigma...and I'm happy to have him in the squad.

Who is this week's mystery signing?
S-Clarke replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
It was less than that, it was around 200k initially we offered for CMS apparently, rest was on add-ons. Pretty insulting! We're also doing clubs heads in with regards to Puncheon, they're coming to us with offers, willing to negotiate, but we want £1m and not a penny less. That's why he always ends up going out on last minuite loans. No club will pay £1m up front for him, never. We also want cash for him and aren't willing to include him in any deal... We seem pretty stubborn to say the least! -
Who is this week's mystery signing?
S-Clarke replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
I've got a horrible feeling that this transfer window is going to be as frustrating as the summers, in terms of searching for a striker. All I'm hearing is that we don't negotiate, we set a price and if they try and negotiate we back off. We're not creating any fans and are wasting alot of clubs time in our hunt for a striker. You very rarely purchase a player for what you (the buying club) feel he's worth. It doesn't happen unless the selling club is in financial difficulty and you can take advantage of that, otherwise clubs always value their players higher than what the buying club do - especially in January. We're showing a pretty big lack of respect with some of our bids apparently. -
I'm not surprised. I didn't think he'd move in January. I was surprised by our apparent intent on making it happen though Frustrating though because although it was a nice ambitious attempt, nothing actually materialized again. Same as Jay Rod, Sharp etc. I don't want this to be another frustrating window in our hunt for a striker....

How he wishes Ramsey was killed in a car accident, how he's the worst player he's ever seen. basically pretty horrific stuff directed @ Ramsey's own twitter account.

If I had people I knew in Japan they would have text me the paper headlines that day too. People dropping crytpic stuff just bugs me. If you can't say who it is because it'll ''damage the deal'' then don't say a thing, anything else is just raising expectations and wasting everyone's time. -

S-Clarke replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
I honestly think he doesn't know......it strikes a bit attention seeking for him. Drop a bit of info, then run away, drop a bit more cryptic stuff, run away again. Pointless and time wasting. -

He seems to be a fan of Ramsey.
-
He's made Theo look like an amateur today. Fair play to the lad, he looks an established premiership player. Shouldn't ever play any lower now, he's made his career.
-
Fourth_Official knew of our interest in Fox and Jay Rod before anyone else, it's just that the 2nd part of the deal didn't happen, but we did try. He's obviously got contacts (or they, as the case may be) and it's worth keeping an eye on for snippets. Oaka is also a wide player, he can operate down either flank afaik, so it could make sense especially with our Sere A connections. Way too good for this league though if he's on form.

Who is this week's mystery signing?
S-Clarke replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
According to the Journos up in Palace we inquired very seriously at the end of August. He still hasn't signed his contract and he's available for free in the summer, so you'd imagine a fee of around £2m could be tempting for them. Don't think it's a massive priority though as we have Fraser, Butters, Stephens and even Harding who can play there. But he's quality and will improve the squad, so can't complain if it happens. -

S-Clarke replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
If it's De Bruyne I will walk around Southsea for the day in a Saints shirt. He's one of the top talents in Europe and will cost upwards of £9m. Barca, Real, Chelsea, Bayern have all registered an interest in the past! -
Celtic, and especially Lennon, have played this transfer interest completely wrong. Everything points to us having serious interest and Celtic playing their hand and letting us negotiate. That's how I see it. Then you have Lennon disconnected from it all making stupid desperate comments because he knows we're serious.
