£ 5 milion. would cost more than that.

Totally agree with you on this..

Thanks for your decent views - always nice to see good balanced oppo coming on here. FWIW I've always felt it would be an ask to get him in January, but all I can say is that we seem pretty keen and are putting alot of time and effort into it! Regarding Stokes...I think alot of us look down on him because of how poor he was at this level with Sunderland. He was tipped as a massive player for them when they got him for £2m or so, but he was pretty poor at this level to say the least. Sounds like he's greatly improved as a player now though.

I don't think any deal is going to be £8m straight up, or £10m straight up. It will come in installments and based upon certain clauses I'm sure. So celtic get so much for his first England cap, so much after he's scored so many goals etc. The sort of clauses that would coincide with us doing well and recouping the transfer fee anyway. Anyway I don't think we'd bid up to 10m either, around up to 7 is probably as far as I can see NC going on one player.

There doesn't seem to be any structure to West Hams activity what so ever. Incredibly similar to Leicester in the summer, try to sign anyone with 2 feet who can kick a ball. At least we actually have targets.
-
He's being earmarked for a short-term loan when he's recovered, in a bid to regain his fitness. He's already back in light training, so I don't think it'll be too long before he's fit to play.
-
Rodriquez, absolute class player IMO.
-
We'll give you Punch as part of a deal for Clyne, thank you...
-
Looks like something is a foot.

I think Rodriquez is a really classy centre forward, I'm a massive fan of his. Touch and technique is outstanding and he will be a premiership player before long, no doubts about that. He's got more about him than Sharp and is younger. Shame we didn't get him in the summer, he'd have been class for us.
-
Don't agree with any of that. You seem to be forgetting that he was also very prolific at this level before he went to Celtic.

Teddy Mazague? CB playing in france at the mo. Just saw his name popup on twitter as a possible link. -
I wouldn't trust a thing that comes out of a Celtic fan's mouth, their player judgement sucks as we saw with Jos.
-
Pretty sure he scored a couple against udinese
-
Yep - that seems to be the case, and I'm bloody delighted! Let's hope something comes off though.

Lambert has been pretty much an ever present for the last 3 years. Having him out of the team is a massive blow and we're all of a sudden much weaker. Chappers is still injured and let's not forget that he's been out for a couple of months almost, so will take some time to get back into the groove.....not sure W-P is quite ready for top championship football yet. We need more fire power up top if we're serious, and it looks like we're pulling all the stops out to ensure that. As dune said - this is a great opportunity for us. No season is ever the same, so even if we fail this year and spend lots of money in the summer....we may not be at this stage with 50 points. It's a great tally at this stage and I think we need to throw everything at it to ensure we finish the job. I'd be gutted if we don't make it now.

I don't think either are quick, they can come across as quick to the eye because they're clever and have good movement - so can open up space quicker than the defenders can react. They both seem clinical penalty box scores, right foot, left foot, head - all pretty standard. But they're incredibly prolific, especially Hooper who seems prolific at any level. And once a goal scorer, always a goal scorer IMO - no matter what level.

The way Lambert has built that team is really clever. Similar in many ways to what we're trying to do IMO. -
Where'd you hear that....?
-
I think Villarreal B play in the Segunda division, Spain's championship basically - and it isn't a bad standard with the likes of Deportvo in the league, and Betis last year etc. I think this is a decent deal for both parties really.

A quick look at the Leeds forum and they are going mad. Big boycott of all remaining games being planned apparently, as the rumour is that the money from this sale is going into a fund setup by Ken Bates, not back into players to improve the squad. Ken Bates is totally ruining them to be honest. Shame really, cause they could have used their momentum from L1 better than they have. They'll probably be in relegation trouble in another 18months if they're not careful as Snodgrass is probably next. -
Well exactly, how many times have you seen a selling club publish an article like that, only for the said player to be sold the next week. Personally I agree with what others have said on this, we wouldn't be wasting our time on a third huge bid if he hadn't been sounded out. It can be classed as tapping up I guess, but it happens everywhere. If he wasn't that keen I'm sure his agent would have let us know and we'd have stopped at Bid 1. The agent is involved from the moment a bid goes in. He's in a win win really - his agent either sorts him out a new deal at Celtic, or he sorts out his contract with us. This now has serious legs based on the articles this morning.
-
People saying that ''it's not true, we don't publicise our bids''. We don't, it's not us doing this. Celtic are for whatever reason - and it all points towards them showing their hands and accepting that he's for sale, at the right price. The agent will also be working to circulate this information which is why it's appearing within tabloids and online etc. Celtic probably know he's keen to move, and to be honest I doubt we'd be this interested if he hadn't been sounded out. So celtic are trying to maneuver themselves into the strongest possible position, which equates to them possibly making this as public as possible so it creates a bidding war. That's my take on it anyway.

As far as I know none of those clubs have tabled a bid, Everton don't even have the cash to do so. If we bid enough and it's accepted we have a chance.
