The official unofficial January transfer targets thread..

De Ridder was excellent in the 2 home Christmas fixtures IMO, and finally started to show his true form. Then he got injured....bit frustrating, but the quality is there. -

Where you hearing these? TBH it was denied by the horses mouth! -
Neither are wide players, where as Flaque is. If we start with a midfield of Cork - Morgan - Hammond and W-P we will be frightfully narrow and it will play into Leicesters hands.

As far as I'm aware the intention is to loan Barnard out to another club for the rest of the season, as soon as he's fit.
-
The moment any player refuses to play for your team, they need to go. That's not a case of anyone picking the team or not, the fact is the Punch has acted like a total tool through all of this - ask fans at his previous clubs, they will all say the same about him. Cortese is not to blame for this, so stop trying to spin it.
-
I think that's a valid positive to take from it. It's given him a nice month off and the league should fear him returning. I think this is his longest layoff in about 4 of 5 years.

Nice story Crabs - will be interesting to see if you keep them up.... I took over @ Bradford as I got irritated by seeing them languish in L2. Got them to the championship in 2 seasons, we then finished mid-table and when I asked for an improved contract they said ''No - your performances of late have not been good enough" - so I walked and picked up the vacant villa job. ungrateful buggers!

Can't wait to see this Spurs lad in action, he's supposed to be unreal technically - but a couple of people I've spoken to are unsure how he can cope with the physical side of it. -
Seeing us promoted before KO, as we'd done all the work at Easter
-
Yep, top player and a great investment for them. Will be an england regular within time and IMO is at the same level of Bale technique wise -and he seems to have got a bit stronger too. Just imagine us with Bale left midfield, Oxo right midfield, Drew in the middle alongside Morgan - with Theo up top with Lambo. never mind!

I'd love to see Conners last the pace, but I still think he'll pick up niggles and knocks. TBH the loan window will come in handy to cover that if required I guess. -
I don't think he's too bad in an attacking sense at all. I think we've reigned him in slightly though as Burnley fans say he bombed forward all the time, leaving his position exposed. If anything we've coached a bit more responsibility into him re: his actual position.

I think just 1 more option up front - then I'd be well happy. -
But I don't think we will break the bank for a player in terms of a transfer fee, it just doesn't seem Cortese's style. He's very protective of the trust fund that has been setup and doesn't want to pay way over what we feel we should pay, which is fair enough i suppose. I think the whole ethos is to have us run as a sustainable club that lives within it's means, and clubs that live within their means don't spunk £7m plus on a player in the championship. Just what I think anyway.
-
Kind of agree. I think he's no more than a decent top flight player. He's never going to be this world-class superstar that he was tipped to be as a teenager. He just doesn't have the technique.
-
TBH the figures bounded around for an English L1 striker is obscene. Lee would probably make a much better impact and he's cost a snip. I really think we need to carry on looking abroad and forget this english market, we clearly only pay what we feel a player is worth - and we'll only get that sort of value away from england.
-
I think he's only U21 so far, may be wrong htough.
-
Just looked at Wenger with his hands up in the air and a ''WTF?noo?'' expression. Which then continued around the stands...and most neutrals!
-
Wenger has now been shown to be the idiot he is. His stubbornness does my head in!
-
Wenger has taken him off, excellent. Makes you wonder if he has a clue anymore.
-
An assist from Oxo, nice. He's looked every inch a premiership player today. Gareth Bale class in time.
-
Trust me, he's not making it up.
-
He's not much better there tbh. Just another long line of average youngsters that Wenger seems to want to persevere with, even though they're no way near good enough for what they aspire to be.
