Yeah, the lack of english CB's is frightening really. I don't rate Jones or Smalling either. I agree though, gone are the days of Rio, Terry, Sol, Carragaher, Woodgate - proper top level CB's.

He's not a magician. We've got a couple of half decent players, and then a load of utter ****. We're not good enough against the worlds best, let a lone a few half decent sides.

I can see what it's going to be now. 80mins, Lambert thrown on and 10mins of just knocking long ball after long ball up to him. Completely ignoring his actual quality.

Barkley coming on, would agree. But you have to ask, what's the point of taking Lambert if you're not going to make use of his obvious qualities? Maybe he doesn't see them.

Is it just me, or are our players always stretching for the ball? Seemingly under control, and they end up stretching for it, and losing it? Seems pretty inept.

This is all a bit ****, really. Laboured, half-arsed, slow. There's just nothing there. The only bit of urgency were a few **** corners after they scored, good stuff. Would make some calls and bring Lambert, Lallana and Barkley on. Why not? Henderson looks out of his depth, Rooney and Welbeck have been tosh. Still confused to how Welbeck gets so many minutes in a world cup. But the reality is that players like Jagilka, Baines and Welbeck are sub-standard and we end up carrying them. I'm also still trying to work out which world class players Lallana is enjoying training with? I'm pretty sure we have more in our squad at Staplewood.

It's a good start - lots of getable points from the first couple of months, it actually looks very similar to that of last year. A start that enables us to pick-up points and get a head of steam...
