He was a shambles in that 2nd half. 1st half, he was at least kind of involved. But 2nd half, didn't even run for the ball, didn't make an effort to hold it.....nothing there at all. I love Lambert, he's a hero for the modern-day fan....but that doesn't excuse that 2nd half display.

Can't really take that as a positive to be honest, given our display for 60% of that match! This is Sunderland, not Man Utd. -

Looked like the Achilles, possibly. Hard to say. -

Agreed, a really sloppy goal at a period where the locals were on their backs, they were streaming out of their seats. We either close out that 2nd half, or get the 2nd, 3rd, 4th we deserved. Defensively pretty crap, considering how good we were at the start of the season. That goal changed the entire direction of the match, 2-0 at HT and it was a totally different 2nd half. Injuries just make it worse than I could have ever imaged after 30mins. -

How is that a good result? Seriously? Come on, pretty unprofessional for us not to win that. The game should have been signed, sealed and done by HT. We were that good, that dominant. 2-0 flattered them. We should never have let them back into that in the 1st half, that goal was a nightmare. -

Rubbish result, rubbish injuries, rubbish week. Not really much positive stuff in the outlook. -
I'm totally dismayed at how we can dominate a game like that, yet fail to win. 2nd half from us was a shambles to be honest. Lambert, bit subdued in the 1st half, but a joke in the 2nd half. Something is up with him. It's all a bit compounded by what looks to be season ending injures to 2 of our players, and unfortunately one player we really cannot afford to lose. We cannot afford to play with either Yoshida or Jos in this league, so we need to spend if that is at all practical.
-
That injury to Gaston looks horrendous, long term..! Feel sorry for the lad, but we really have to spend now...although I'm not sure if it's even practical.
-
Our season has literately exploded in front of our eyes today. The worst result we've had in years and years.
-
Would agree that Lambert looks a little subdued today, but still playing well enough.
-
Got a feeling this will be a bit of a backs to the wall 2nd half if we don't get an early 3rd goal, which is a bit of a travesty given how good we've been.
-
Suspended, on the bench, and injured. What's your point?
-
Overriding emotion from that half has to be frustration........that game should be done, finished, zipped up and on the coach back to Southampton. The 2nd half shouldn't have to be a contest...but some how, we've let them back into it! The 1st half was a masterclass from us, but we really, really, really needed to make more of that, as were so much better than them at stages in that game. Tricky 2nd half coming up.

"If Andros Townsend was at Southampton he would not have had nine loans -he would have had his development through the leagues there like Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott did. That is the market they are in." I don't quite get his point? Basically, he's saying we play our youngsters and put pride in our academy, but Spurs push them out on loan for years? So, he's actually downtrodden Spurs there in terms of English development?
-
That is a truly, truly, appalling article. And he's probably been paid for that.... Wow.
-
You do make some good points there. The one thing we will miss, no matter what anyone else says, will be his vision and ambition. He drove that from the top right through the club. He wouldn't have been able to pursue those dreams or ambitions without KL's money though, so in that sense I don't think he's irreplaceable. But this is what I'm still not entirely sure about....there has been talk from his wife in the past that he's obsessed, all he did was pace around before a match, he couldn't sleep due to nerves etc. He lived this club for 5 years, literally.....I can't see him just turning away and resigning from that. There has to surely be plans from his side to come back in, especially given his comments regarding the family a year or so back...''If they don't want to fulfill the vision, I have people lined up who can'' etc. I think he's a bit of a nutter, with lots of good contacts who have lots of $$$4 - and he's not going to just turn away from that. Maybe someone is out there who will spend £500m to push us into title contenders? That's obviously always been his vision, and I'm to be honest we've achieved everything he said we would so far, so I'm not going to ignore those comments from a year or so back. Will be interesting to see what occurs over the coming months, but I fully expect the PR machine from both sides to be in overdrive.
-
Would be silly to let anyone go if we're honest. The squad is already quite thin when we have injuries, and it really doesn't look like we'll be doing any incomings in this window....so we'd end January weaker, whatever anyone says about Gaston. Let's hope this doesn't happen.
-
Not sure this is exactly relevant anymore to be honest. All this proves is that football can swing so, so quickly. Who knows where we'll be in 5 years from here!

CORTESE - a personal and factual view of why Ms Liebherr was right.
S-Clarke replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
A lot of this rings true FF. For one, I'm fully grateful for what he did for us, he was the driving force for the purchase and the continued success over the past few years - but there were many parts of him which were far from perfect. The banning of MLT/Echo/national papers all ring loud and clear, and he wasn't the easiest person to deal with - to say the least! -
On another subject... best goal scored by a defender?

Wayne Thomas. -
I don't think that's allowed. I think he'd need to be an independent identity on the outside in order to buy the football club.
-
This will be quite a telling development, I think we'll then have a clear idea of their intentions and plans for this football club. My general feeling is that whoever is brought in, will be brought in as an interim measure with a specialty in managing takeovers and mergers. I feel the prime objective of our owners is now to sell the club and make a very healthy profit. If we had confirmation of that, we could all rest a little easier as we will know what the plans are. I hope we have some sort of direction in the next couple of weeks...
-
So the facts are as follows: Nicola Cortese has left. MP is staying Reaffirmed no intention to sell any players.
-
I think they need to get someone into the position, and then make an announcement on their intentions and plans.
