He's a very nice little player, but it would have been an odd one as we don't need a player of his sort. Davis, Morgan, Cork are all fine. Ward-Prowse is outstanding. Then you have Chaplow and Hammond behind those 4 It's probably an area we'll evolve in time, but there are bigger priorities to spend the money on in this team during this transfer window.

They've got a lot of catching up to do in around a week, and they'll have to offer him more than we have - which going by their first offer, they weren't able to do. It's all boiling down to a final day switch. Bolonga are playing this to their advantage, but the gamble could leave them skint with an unhappy player who doesn't want to play for them (And then his value will most likely drop). No brainer. I think that's a bit unfair. I knew of him, I think most did. You don't need to follow football massively to realise that he's one of the most highly rated young players in world football at the mo.

I reckon this signing (if it happens) would have other reasons behind it as well. As you see with Jaidi, he's now doing some sort of ambassadorial role for us in Africa. Now, what better player to have working for you in a scouting/ID/ambassadorial role than Del Piero? Get a year out of him in a Connolly role, then he drops back behind the scenes ala Jaidi - but he would attract so many contacts, just by his name.

His touch and speed of thought would be better than most players in our squad, even at his age. He's still good for a year. Easily.

Jeez, another thread being dragged down the pan. I actually hear very good things about this kid. Spoken of very, very highly - apparently not far away from the FT at all, potentially involved next season if he carries on progressing.
