I think we need pace on the flank, and he won't give us that. Good player, yep, but I think we need to spend our money on someone with a bit of pace - and I think adkins thinks the same..

The deal for Buttner has pretty much fallen through by all accounts, we couldn't reach an agreement, which is quite an escape going by your post. I do like Erik Pieters and he is a player I've mentioned on here before, he can also play at CB as you said and would cover us in that position.

For what it's worth I don't think we're looking for a ''finisher'' type, we're after someone who will create a bit of havoc and setup chances for our 5 strikers already here. Sounds to me that (if we get him) we want to deploy him on the right side of a front 3, allowing him to cut inside and join in with the strikers. Do you think this will suit his game? Pleased that you mentioned his pace as this is something our current squad has been lacking, so it's pleasing to see we're after players with genuine pace. He's only training with them because he's best mates with one of their strikers. There's no possibility of a loan.

I think It'll be Steven Davis as I think Fonte will be the CB to make way. and Deano won't be a regular starter. Davis has captained his country and one of the biggest clubs in the land. No brainer in that respect.

Bit harsh, I don't think he was that bad if I'm honest. He got caught by being 2 high up quite a few times, but that was more down to their tactics than anything. As a CB i see him more of a sweeper who is there to play alongside a more dominant CB who wins all the headers, Dann seems to be more of a ''reader'' and a positional centre half. He was rated highly at Birmingham, and even though they say he is quite slow, they all rated him much higher than Johnson.

Exactly, 1 player does not relegate a team, it's a collective failure which often boils down to the manager. As it did with Blackburn who had more than enough quality to stay up if managed in the right way.

Football rivalry is all well and good, but he just took it way too far.
