  1. or a nailed on defeat.
  2. Most people probably give as much of a shit about Linekers domestic arrangements as they do about Beckham's son marrying some rich bint in USA.
  3. I remember Lawrie in the 1970's when someone on BBC mentioned shots on target ... and responding along the lines of, and if the striker hits it from about the halfway line and it bounces three time before it reaches the goalkeeper who catches it, is that a 'shot on target' ?
  4. Not sure analysing yesterday's match is "fun". On that showing I'd say we were fortunate Chelsea took their foot off the pedal/relented with half an hour to go, so not sure it is bollocks to say we were lucky it wasn't another 9 or 10. Another stat is that over the last two seasons we have lost a single game each season by more than 6, not sure what that does to the statistical analysis, and if that skews the data. Fully accept this is an interesting field for you, so don't let old dinosaurs like me detract from it. I'll leave it there for now, but please feel free to pm me when xG appears in the league table along with GD and issues like promotion, relegation and European qualification depend on it.
  5. For me it should be a simple matter of playing your best RB and LB in their natural positions. Having KWP as an option for LB when needed is great, but it shouldn't be the default option. Obviously three into two won't go if they are all fit, so unless Livramento is moved forward - as many see as a natural progression - then someone will be unhappy at not not being selected. So perhaps the thinking is why piss off one of your players when you can piss off two of your better players by not playing them/or playing out of position ?
  6. I can't understand the methodology, or purpose of this xG concept, despite nta786's best efforts above. Seems a bit of 'psycho-babble' for geeks, nerds, and probably those playing computer games. Whether it could have been 10 is open to debate, I think it possibly could have been on that performance. Not sure how anyone can say it should only have been four when they peppered our goal for the first 60 minutes before looking like they had simply "declared" at that point. If Twar wants statistics I suggest he focuses on the following: Saints scored none, Chelsea scored six. They get three points for their endeavours, we (deservedly) get fuck all. Anything else is superfluous.
  7. Saw an article in the week about the Austrian FA looking for a new manager. Denied an approach to Rangnick, but wonder if Ralph H might be a candidate.
  8. Do they put the interviews up on the internet ?
  9. Can you give me another 'positive' from today's performance he should have highlighted ?
  10. Can't disagree with your conclusions. Doesn't excuse the apparent lack of effort though.
  11. No it wasn't. Most lower league sides tend to throw everything at the opposition and make them work for their win. Our soft bastards just get into their ferrari's afterwards, piss off back to their mansions and life of luxury. No spirit, no fight, no need. As Alan Ball remarked about his Man City team , they're not bothered, "I'm talking to eleven millionaires here".
  12. The ball dropping for the opposition.... yes, it happens, but after a while and it keep happening doesn't it also raise a question as to where our players are in order to make it more difficult for the opponent, or even preventing them from simply 'tapping it in'. 0-9,9-0 and now 0-6. I accept there were some other factors contributing to first two (the Man Utd game especially), but we do seem to have more than our fair share of bad luck. Surprising that no other team in our division has had the same level of bad luck in the last three years.
  13. Utterly shameful.
  14. We've taken pastings to a new level now though.
  15. You should realise that the club's role is a conveyor belt for young talent and to give them their chance. Fully expect Smallbone to be another, and find a big money move to Ross County or suchlike in a year or so's time.
  16. In theory I agree, but in truth they probably don't give a shit. Many are thinking about where they might be playing next season and big money moves. Remarkable downturn in Salisu's performances since talk of a big money move, and none of us know what conversations are taking place at the club over a new contract. Broja, unlikely to be here next year, JWP basking in the glory of his last free kick and all the "best in the world .." talk. KWP.. is he happy moved to LB ... ?
  17. Motivation, or lack of ?
  18. Season ends soon.
  19. A team of stiffs... Or perhaps it's Ralph's rigid tactics that are to blame.
  20. This was a Chelsea side coming into the agme after two straight defeats, and a more important fixture coming up against Real Madrid. We should have been at them from the start... Instead of which, Chelsea couldn't have wished for more obliging opponents.
  21. I lost any semblance of interest or respecting The European Cup/Champions League when you no longer had to be the champions of your league to enter it. Not sure how fourth place merits a champions tag. Now they've reduced the bar and you don't even have to be in the top four, but can qualify by default, providing the name is a big enough draw.
  22. I'm sure the signing of Dele Alli did a lot to calm things in the camp.
  23. Grand Old Team certainly made for good reading, although not for the faint hearted as there is certainly some pretty poisonous stuff on there. No one escapes the flak, Moshiri, Bill Kenwright, and of course the housewives favourite, Frank. Expect he might be out if they don't get a few results, at least he gets a pay off, and the wife has a decent salary he can fall back on. Couple of the amusing posts in there. Sacked Martinez too soon, bad choices ever since... , should get rid of Lmapard, calls for Fat Sam, and one poster suggests Warnock. They have certainly lowered their expectations since the summer they recruited Koeman and were on here telling us what a great club, and history they had. Didn't bother researching their views on Benitez How much did he, and Iwobe cost ? On the subject of Kenwright, he's always come across as a pretty decent and well intentioned bloke, but Christ they really lay into him as well. Thought this was pretty low even by their standards.
  24. Think we scored from one of his throws against Sunderland at home one season. 89th minute, or at least very late in the game.
