  1. I don't even think Anton Ferdinand ranks as a celebrity (outside of Loftus Road).
  2. Tommy Gemmill , in 1969/70. An exciting possibility at the time as he was a full Scotland international and big name. Didn't want to move this far south.
  3. Why would we need to change our strip at Norwich ? They play in yellow and green, have I missed something ?
  4. Are you suggesting he is the new David Connolly, or the Japanese 'Latvian Michael Owen' by any chance ?
  5. Totally agree on your points regarding Rodriguez and Chaplow. Listening to part of yesterday's match, the post mortem after, and on here, it seems we started with a fairly narrow midfield and "diamond". I thought this particular formation had been proven a disaster last season away from home, why are we persisting with it ? It seems a commonly stated tactic regarding Everton attacking wide down the left in particular, but we did not line up to counter that known threat until it was too late. Ramirez and Lallana are fantastic talents, but we need some bin men as well as violinists (to use Lawrie's description), a few grafters in the middle were needed yesterday, and Chaplow might have been the answer. The second goal in particular embarrased our midfield as they took possession all too easily (could not work out who on MOTD) and carved a way through, virtually unchallenged.

  7. Agree with this. Substitutions v Mancs were poor, last week I questioned the changes towards the end of the game, bringing JP off. Today, I really felt JP might have offered a better protection to the full back from midfield. Chaplow is more experienced than JWP at a place like Goodison. Rodriguez, despite his goals v Sheff Weds, is ike a spare limb the way we have played him this season, so I did not expect much from him today.
  8. Could be the best striker at the club, since Connolly*, if he did not spend so much time in the treatment room. *apart from Lambert, but then the old joke might be lost.
  9. p!ss artist, after a long lunch.
  10. I think it will be Gazzaniga. Seeing the NA interview he seems to hedge the question "is Boruc fit ?" , just saying he has had a good weeks training. May of course be a smokescreen, but I think he'll persevere with PG.

  12. Blue line under Sheffield Wednesday, onto Everton!!! COYR, will take a point and believe we can get one if we play like we did in the second half vs Villa.
  13. Sounded like he made two good saves, but other than that they posed little threat.
  14. Am I the only one whos never heard of Gape?
  15. Having been cleared in a court, the FA charge though does seem like a bit of needless pantomime.
  16. How is Lawrie these days ? Is he 'warming' to the new regime ?
  17. I'm not Puncheon's biggest fan and always fear there could be a tantrum round the corner at any time if his track record is anything to go by. But, he is playing well at the moment and as long as he maintains the same workrate and commitment as yesterday, second half especially, then its good to have him on board (with his oar), on the bus or "in the building". Most remarkable thing for me was the combination with Richardson rather than Clyne. In the first half the Clyne/JP link did not seem to work at all. Seperated from the other in the second half and both were a revelation.
  18. Best wishes to Petrov for a speedy recovery by the way, from what I have read he has faced this with great dignity, and I understand Villa's fans support for him, but not the suggestion that Saints fans are disrespectful for not partaking in their ritual when we knew sod all about it.
  19. Both teams at every match at St Mary's this season should wear training tops with 62 emblazoned on the back. And team captains should release 62 balloons at the start of every match. Actually no, not just for this season, but for the next 24 seasons.
  20. It was in no way intended as a serious comment, and should have used an emoticom, purely a reference to the idiotic comment made by Branfoot many years ago. (Its a generation thing ! ) Not sure if his comment now amuses or still rankles, probably both.
  21. Sorry but he'll score less than Speedie & Dixon. But 15-20 range I suspect.
  22. You're a tad more forgiving after the Blackpool fiasco than me. Welcome back Cheesey, but not sure about your avatar. Should'nt it be a photograph of Suzanne Dando's fridge ?
  23. And the last Pole we had in goal proved to be a clown. I'm sure Artur is far better . I don't want to see a backpage headline reading: "Artur drops a Boruc!"
  24. Do we really need to sign a goalkeeper with a problem ?
  25. Bringing Burley in was considered a bit of a coup at the time though and many were ecstatic especially after his record start at Hearts that season. At the time he was a name many considered beyond us after Saggy had p!ssed off. I think we were fearing Bassett/Wise at first then expecting the Dutch Revolution (Wotte and AN Van Other) although that arrived about two years later with Wotte still coming to Saints but the Van Other failing to make his mark anywhere else (name escapes me).
