  1. ...and defend libel actions.. Where exactly did the award from that case end up ?
  2. Amazing how peoples perceptions and view vary. I respect your view from whatever you have witnessed etc but for me Kenna was one of the most over estimated players we have ever had,and it disappointed me he seemed to set back Dodd's progress.I was amazed and delighted we got £1.5m for him. Mills, yes he did an excellent if unspectacular job for us at a difficult time. Dodd, agree he was a good captain and offered a lot but in terms of tackling and going forward he was nowhere near Golac.
  3. I heard him say it was only a "secular analogy" though, so thats alright.
  4. But did he go on to achieve anything elsewhere to suggest the decision to release him was wrong ? Sorry if I misunderstood the rules of the thread.
  5. Where is this as you drive from the stadium exactly / Sorry but not familiar with the names of Hi-Q etc.
  6. The story sounds a bit far fetched to me. However I realise we have for some time been slipping towards -not only administration- but becoming Ruperthampton F.C playing at the 'Rupertdome'.
  7. Ditto. Golac simply has no rivals for this in my book.
  8. Shame we can not force the Eurovision hierachy to accept Norton to compere it annually (or should that be anally ?) for the rest of europe to witness. In retaliation for their constant rigged voting they we could make them suffer the spectacle of that pouting queer for an evening every year.
  9. Something that might have been overlooked by Mr Burley however. As for "come on you greys", the simple remedy is to change the last word to 'Saints'.It has often irked me that we sing 'reds' (MancU and L/pool are the 'reds' we are the Saints ) as we don't play in plain boring red shirts.
  10. They played together for us just before, and during the early Keegan era.Surprisingly they didn't strike me as a particularly reliable duo especially away from home.
  11. Interesting dilemna there really, especially after the last time we drew those mancy c^nts in the cup.Are we going to see a Saints side similar to the one we currently - and pre 1/1/09 regard as our strongest take the field - or one that is minus some of our better players. Frankly the cup selection in 2005 was one that left me feel hugely cheated before a ball was kicked, never mind the capitulation that followed.
  12. A replica of Hilda Ogden's "murial" would indeed be a fitting epitah to the soap opera we have become.
  13. John McGrath With either Michael Svennson - never has an injury to a single player been more costly- or Jim Steele, especially for 1/5/76. For this to be a 'greatest' Saints team it has to embody the greatest spirit of Southampton;that is the team spirit of The Alehouse. And no one brings that quality more than John McGrath. Jimmy Gabriel by the way would be a first choice sub who could play CB,midfield, and if needed centre forward.
  14. Morcombe or Cheltenham Town away.
  15. Another cost cutting measure by that b^stard Rupert no doubt.
  16. That makes a change from his usual facial expression which lokks as he has just sh!t himself.
  17. Or Adolf and Eva .
  18. In the earlier thread I said Mark Dennis shaded it ahead of David Peach.Dennis was certainly one of the best left backs I have seen at Saints for skill and commitment. However the above statistics are outstanding for Peach. So its a bit of a u-turn from me to vote for David Peach ahead of 'Phsyco'. If Bridge wins this however it will be a travesty and really will show more about the age of voters than a true testimony of the players.
  19. That is it in a nutshell.
  20. That song really does date it,taken from a long forgotten - and for many on hear completely unheard - 'Teenage Opera'.Can't recall who it was by though.
  21. Such decisions will not be of JP's making,so its unfair to judge him on such matters.
  22. Its not hard to believe it,just an impossibility to have happened. Mills joined after certainly Channon and Keegan had left the club, and probably Watson as well.He was in the Saints team with Shilton, and Ball after he returned. I respect your vote for Mills, but I think your judgement of Mark Dennis is as flawed as your memory. His disciplinary issues might have detracted from the claim to greatness, but on his day he was a commited and class defender. In my book only David Peach as lb can hold a candle to him.Young pretenders such as Bridge and Bale are a fraction of the player Dennis was.Steve Mills,we will never know.
  23. For which Sir Matt Busby offered the then mind shattering potential record of £200,000. Saints rejected it.Although it was public knowledge that Big Ron was disappointed not to make the move, there was no sulking, strikes or huffs to engineer the move. How times have changed.
  24. And then on out to The Testwood Hotel,Totton for a 'lock in'.* *Not that I ever witnessed this first hand as I was well below drinking age at the time, but this was legendary amongst my father, grandfather etc.
  25. Careful. They might read that and take offence.
