  1. Well Its started Wall to wall coverage on the referendum for scotish independence Yep a year today the referendum will take place BBC scotland reported no other news this morning , instead the MSP's are giving it loads of speel but there is no substance re fiscal policies, defence , banking etc Instead we get the scottish SNP member gobbing off that Scotland will be sending an independant scottish team to the next Olympic games in Rio Another SNP MSP one has vowed to keep the Royal Mail intact when they win the yes vote. talk of being contradictory And another one has stated that the UK will stilll remain part of the the permanent 5 year memebers when scotland get their independance An academic think tank has claimed that a separate currency would be the "prudent option" for an independent Scotland. This comes days after another think tank made up of Salmonds cronies said something similar For all those financial gurus, what will happen to the mortgages people in scotland have taken out from other financila institutions south of the border And Final there will be news block out for the next year unless it it relates specifically to the Scottish Referendum Debate
  2. This is a difficult debate to have . Someone will always try to use the PC warrant card on you for just highlighting common sense . If someone goes to an exam wearing the burka etc how do we know who is actually sitting the exam . What if a doctor wore full burka hijab etc . Would you want them to exam you . Knowing you don't have a clue who the hidden person is . This clothing has been used by men to commit crimes . More recently to undertake a robbery at selfridges a couple of months ago . As for the court case I think who ever is hidden should be seen by the judge and jury . It could be anyone giving evidence . This lady has double anonymity as she does not have to give her name, especially as she in court on intimidating a witness . Maybe to do with a wider case perhaps . I think being totally covered up in some situations is totally wrong . Also this sort of thing doesn't help society as a whole.
  3. That's the problem big bad bob . Once you get one word or saying banned then pc brigade move onto the next group , word , or chant
  4. I dont think , rainbow laces will have any impact , footballers are already wearing multi coloured football boots Does it matter whether a top footballer is gay or not . whether a top sportsman is gay or not. we support them because they are great sports people. I remember the inuendos about a certain fantastic footballer we had at the dell . I got to know him very well (know not that way). he was a brilliant lad and a friend some one who was a pleasure to know. A down to earth honest person with a good personality. Thats the way society should be irrespective of their sexuality . Remember earlier this year I announced my son was now a woman. She has lots of friends both at work and away from work Yes there will be bigots, but when I mentioned the thought about rainbow laces initiative she laughed out loud and thought it was a ridiculous idea.
  5. Maybe saints will be banned as it is offensive to sinners also will Yankies be banned as well
  6. I admit Barry hornes equaliser was something special .
  7. Saintfully . You would have to have massive amounts of cotton wool to stop a high velocity bullet from hurting you
  8. Saints fully you make some good points about the public sector . I wish I could say more . I will one day . As for the armed forces definately not the cotton wool brigade . Yes there are cushy periods . I ave experienced them but equally I experienced some of the negative **** . We just got on with it as that was the life we chose . Try spending six months in a submarine or however long a tour is . It's not pleasant . You just don't go down the pub in the evening to go out on the **** in one of those things likewise if your at sea on frigate etc
  9. Have you any vacancies Dellboy dave
  10. The potential problem with the living wage is that it is starting to seriously erode the differentials between staff immediately above them and those in other grades . This is going to be a nightmare for public sector workers and the unions are starting to make noises and threats about maintaining differentials based on the living wage at all levels of the pay structure . Some delded local unions stewards just want a single hourly rate for every grade . Some public sectors have just added the difference of the living wage and the current wage as a supplement . The concern I have is that that the living wage will now lead to further job cuts in the public sector . They are already facing year on year cut backs and savings this scenario now means further job cuts are around the corner
  11. Crap thread. Lets have another what do forum members get paid . It's irelevant what people get paid and nothing to do with us
  12. AS they say on the battlefield Gas Gas Gas
  13. Its my nick name for the resident chemical weapons and military hardware expert on here , Its not you pap Its the one that knows more about nucleur submarines than our resident submariner from down town gotham city
  14. So Hanzie do you think the recent inspection by the UN team in Syria examined anyone that may have been exposed to the recent chemical attacked and survived I dont recollect any media reporting on the subject. What is known is that when a nerve type agent is used this tends to inhibit the acetylcholinesterase ensymes in the body breakdown in the synapsethus causing amongst other symptoms muscular spasms and the susequent in ability top breathe etc, Do we know if any of those who survived were given atropine sulphate aor pralidoxime chloride. Maybe we should send the rebel forces and civilians our stocks of Pyridiostigmine Bromide (Naps}
  15. For the attention of our very own Hans Blix Although the clinical manifestations of acute sarin poisoning have been reported in detail, no comprehensive study of the chronic physical and psychiatric effects of acute sarin poisoning has been carried out. To clarify the chronic effects of sarin on the nervous system, a cross-sectional epidemiologic study was conducted 3 years after the Tokyo subway sarin attack. Subjects consisted of the rescue team staff members and police officers who had worked at the disaster site. Subjects consisted of 56 male exposed subjects and 52 referent subjects matched for age and occupation. A neurobehavioral test, stabilometry, and measurement of vibration perception thresholds were performed, as well as psychometric tests to assess traumatic stress symptoms. The exposed group performed less well in the backward digit span test than the referent group in a dose-effect manner. This result was the same after controlling for possible confounding factors and was independent of traumatic stress symptoms. In other tests of memory function, except for the Benton visual retention test (mean correct answers), effects related to exposure were also suggested, although they were not statistically significant. In contrast, the dose-effect relationships observed in the neurobehavioral tests (psychomotor function) were unclear. None of the stabilometry and vibration perception threshold parameters had any relation to exposure. Our findings suggest the chronic decline of memory function 2 years and 10 months to 3 years and 9 months after exposure to sarin in the Tokyo subway attack, and further study is needed..
  16. Good to see our resident expert is also now an expert in chemical weapons . Who needs Hans. Blick when we have our own Hans Blick
  17. These are really Honduras jokes there's a general Malaysia re humour on this thread
  18. BTW Im not sure that the rank and file really know who they are voting for. A lot of these regional officers and above are bullies in there own right I have been on the receiving end of the Unite and RMT regional Officers and I dont mean in the general industrial relations consultations , they are not pleasant people, Those are definately a throw back to the seventies Im not sure you would call Len mccluskie or bob crowe the best people for the job. Mccluskie was a member of millitant while crow is a communist/socialist and a follower of Scargill .
  19. What annoys me somewhat is when union leaders go on about other peoples salary in the public and private sectors . But tlook at the figures the crowes , mccluskies , sowtka get all in excess of six figures Look at the Former joint General Secretary of Unite, Derek Simpson received over £500,000, including severance pay of £310,000 And Mccluskie wife is earning a fortune last I heard she earning was over £75k as some kind of director within the union fraternity. Oh is this the same mcCluskie who got a large subsidised housing loan a few years back Talk of being hypocritical ,
  20. There are different standards of unions, union officials and shop stewards There are one or two officials who you can discuss matters with in this difficult time and we look fr a pragmatic approach to resolutions . There are a number who become shop stewards , because they have a gripe against managers and want to take managers and employers on . There are another group who have not a clue and throw claims and accusations about as if it were cinfetti. They have been represented by unions in the past but did not like the outcome of their issues despite what their regional officers or local officers advised them off . They have become union reps and we are heading towards very difficult times and because if their attitudes we could well a return to further industrial unrest . I could be more specific but not on this occassion. And the final concern I have is you can get agreement of a long standing dispute amongst three unions and with the help of ACAS . They go to ballot and then one of the unions suddenly renegades on the agreement . Much to the disgust of the other unions involved . It's about working together while both sides will disagree from time to time . It's this undercurrent of certain elements of trade unionism that want a return to full scale industrial unrest that worries me the most and the likely loss of even more jobs

  23. Disgraced MSP Bill Walker could have 90% cut in salary if jailed Surely an MP who has been convicted of 23 charges of domestic abuse should not be paid if they go to prison. Based on the westminster ruling employers might be expected to continue to pay their employees who end up in jail How come employment law applies to one set of workers and not another, Hes been convicted and should either be dismiised as an MSP or resign . he certianly should not be paid. His behaviour is gross misconduct. Ah but hes one of the special people, hes an MSP Disgraced MSP Bill Walker is set to have his parliamentary salary cut by 90% if he is jailed for his domestic abuse crimes. Holyrood's management team, the corporate body, has recommended the move which must be ratified by MSPs. Walker was found guilty of 23 charges. He will learn what his sentence is to be later this month. The 71-year-old carried out the attacks against his three ex-wives and a stepdaughter between 1967 and 1995. The maximum sentence facing Walker is 12 months imprisonment - but parliamentarians are only automatically expelled if they are jailed for more than a year. Continue reading the main story “ Start Quote From reviewing the core functions of a member as set out in the SPCB paper, we recommend that 90% of salary should be withheld for the duration of imprisonment” End Quote Tricia Marwick Scottish Parliament Presiding Officer The rules are laid down by Westminster and cannot be changed by Holyrood.
