  1. Saying "Tin hat donned" doesn't make your nasty little comment OK.
  2. Second behind West Ham
  3. That's fine, if you also have no objection to racism, sexism, homophobia or any other offensive speech. I find that most people who say offensive material should be broadcast, make their own exceptions to that rule. They should not be surprised if other peole make other exceptions.
  4. The clue is in the title of the thread. Both are abuse. If you think abuse is wrong, then arguing about which abuse is slightly worse is a bit pointless. Of course, during a football match, you might consider such comments acceptable because they're meant to damage the concentration of your opponent, not to denegrate him, in which case they're not abuse, they're part of the competition. Either way, be consistent. What depresses me is people who take great exception to some forms of verbal abuse, while indulging in others.
  5. I think: - We will be at or near the top in January. - Being in that position, we will invest in a couple of quality players. - With our squad plus those additions, we will be good enough to stay in the top two. So Yes :-)
  6. I don't see how he's going to get his confidence back if he doesn't go on loan.
  7. George Best
  8. To be honest, I think he was quite right. I didn't like it at the time. We should be glad to see clubs like Blackpool having their moment in the sun. We don't need to be negative about it. Sometimes, we're not as funny as we thinik we are.
  9. Ah, Syd Barrett. Remembering him is the first good thing to come out of this game.
  10. Yes, our away form is a problem. And, yes, Nigel Adkins is a good enough manager to sort it out.
  11. Some of us have been recommending this for a very long time. You could have a club that isn't an total embarrassment. Start again with something you can believe in. The trouble with many of you is that you would, as you say, "almost" welcome implosion followed by renewal. It's the "almost" that's keeping that disgusting club alive, and that's keeping you from an enjoyable football experience, starting at a lower level but looking up, instead of the slow death and painful humiliation of giving your hard-earned to a bunch of criminals.
  12. Exactly. Canned music after a goal is an unnecessary attempt to manufacture atmosphere. It's embarrassing because applause only has value if it's spontaneous. Real fans making real noise is real. Canned music during a game actually diminishes the atmosphere by making it artificial, IMHO.
  13. Cork is no right back, but if Richardson and Butterfield were both injured, then someone had to play there Schneiderlin was rather poor, but he tends to need a run of games Hooiveld had a good debut Fox will be a good player We're doing OK. How can anyone be unsatisfied at second in the league the first season after promotion?
  14. Shilton, of course. With an honourable mention for Eric Martin. And I recall a remarkable performance by Matt Le Tiss in Francis Benali's testimonial.
  15. A football manager? Arrogant? Surely not! I'm shocked!
  16. Punishment enough? You cannot be serious!
  17. You are joking, right?
  18. These thugs make me sick. Their vicious attack on a family who happen to watch a different football team is beyond moronic - it's evil.
  19. Yes.
  20. Depends how far back you go. Fred Kemp, David Webb, Kevin Davies, Steve Williams...

    This.
  22. Did I just hear the BBC highlights talk about someone called Julie Do Prado?
  23. PFC may stink to high heaven, but my sympathy goes to Alan Knight. Their dishonesty is not his fault.
  24. Maik Taylor and Kevin Davies, by the managers who let them go
