  1. Watching his performance today made me ponder on the fact that, in monetary terms, he is 'worth' 35 Lamberts!!
  2. Interesting that one one of the Pompey forums they were cherry picking some financial details from an article on Saints and saying we are theoretically in a similar financial mess to themselves. Without going into all in the ins and outs of this, one thing that was majored on was that one our Execs (presumably Cortese) was on £600k a year Interesting then that seems to be exactly the same salary that dear old Dave Lampitt was receiving before his departure. Cortese is not every ones cup of tea but I reckon he has given better value for his wedge that the recently departed Dave
  3. Lots has been said about more recent Pompey owners However, according to a recent report Moneyweek,Mandaric, who is generally favourably viewed by Pompey supporters bought the club for £8m and sold to Gaydamak for £43m Perhaps he has been given credit for being an entrepreneur. Others may think he was the instigator of Pompey's most recent series of financial crises.
  4. Funny, and approriate!!
  5. Actually wasn't there a solidarity campaign by a few Saints fans (think it might have been before the Prem admin) to try to assist with donations etc in their time of need? I recollect this (misplaced) hand of friendship was thrown back by the bestest fans in the world along the lines of ..'we dont ned no help from know scummers'.. etc etc
  6. Any one see Rod Little's piece about 'Cheating Pompey' in the Sunday Times today On the reverse Adam Rant in the Footie Echo reckons Saints fans should wind their collective necks in re Pompey's admin
  7. This is Pompey's third admin Shouldnt theyget some sort of recognition for this along with some of the other persistent offenders which, to be fair, are generally to be found in the lower leagues?
  8. No mention of the fact that he told our friends down the road that Al Faraj (or one of the other Arabian gentlemen who professed to be bank rolling the club) was well and truly minted and would invest millions of his vast fortune into the club!!
  9. Like you I think Adkins forays in the transfer/loan markets have not been wonderfully successful (compared to Pardew for example) However remeember Dave jones saying that he worked on an average of 1 in 3 of his new players would be successful Of course it depends on who brings in the players eg Scouts/Chairman etc
  10. I actually played there a few times at the tail end of my career both against Roadsea and when the occasional local cup final was played there Ironically I got to know Peter Price, the owner of Roadsea, reasonably well It is ironic because when I started playing in the Hampshire League as a raw 19 year old, and it was a tough old League then, I played against Peter Price (and his mate Terry Wort) when they were with Sandown. Played two games in quite succession over Easter and was battered black and blue by both of them!! Roadsea also had a very decent cricket team that played round the back of the current Dressing Room buildings
  11. Just a thought on Pompey's 'support' In the two years they won the League back in the 50's (and fair play to them for that) they never averaged above 37,000 per season in a 'stadium' with a capacity of over 50,000 and, at a time, post war, when all clubs were recording full houses and record attendances!! Also for a club with such a rich history and a conurbation of over 400,000, why have they only averaged crowds of 14,500 in the 52 years since 1960?
  12. Didnt realise he had turned up at Burnley Seems there are a number of football 'Execs' eg Peter Risdale/Peter Storrie etc who do the rounds, get well paid, and never seem to achieve anything positive for the clubs who employ them!!
  13. Blimey is that really neil Shipperley? At first glance thought it was Razor Ruddock!!
  14. I suppose it may be some consolation to those PFC directly employed staff and also those working for suppliers who may go down the pan due to another financial crisis at the Park, that the club's sponsors will be able to sort them out with a new job!!
  15. A very relevant point Marc Wilson would probably have played regularly for Pompey Lawrence has done OK when he's not injured but Kitson seems to have been somewhat of a failure. All this for an annual increase in the wage bill of approx £1.5m x 3 years? and a bit of Agents commission As you say..'Great Business'
  16. Liked the captioned ...after guiding Southampton to three Premiership titles...if only!! btw wasnt there rumours of some sort of betting scam when Harry moved to Saints from Pompey? ie loads of money being placed on Harry to come to us before the rumours started
  17. In an attempt to prepare for a brave new world, the Pompey Trust will shortly be renamed ''Trust Pompey' John Westwood is very pleased about this and he is at the tattoo parlour now getting rid of the previously mispelt 'Pompey Truss'
  18. Wonderwhat you do now if you own a Saab in this area? Are parts still available
  19. Reminds me of the SCUM strike breaker lie when in actual fact it was Portsmouth Dockers in the mid 70's who turned out to be strike breakers going against their 'brothers' down in Plymouth in a dispute over the emerging Brittany Ferry service. It was Soton Dockers who took up the cause and blockaded Portsmouth Commercial Docks. None of this ever gets reported but by shouting loud enough the fairly story about Soton strike breakers has passed into folklore I wonder if Ho picked up his elaboration of the facts from a relative working in Pompey Docks
  20. Does this mean that the Pompey News will renew its campaign to get Harry knighted?
  21. Good report some added comments
  22. Would be interested to learn if Butterfield is injured
  23. Sure it is Remember when he sang it live at HT in front of the dirty Leeds fans at the Dell and got escorted off by the police?
