  1. I guess most supporters are relatively happy with the performance of our midfield However Steve Davis, Morgan, Jack Cork, Big Vic and JWP have amassed a combined total of over 500 appearances and returned 17 goals. Not exactly free scoring If Ramirez is looked upon as a midfielder his figures are 48 appearances and 8 goals
  2. Bearing in mind that Terry was most likely a Cortese appointment, I wonder if he has the same relationship with Katherina and the new Execs and he will remain as Club President? Meanwhile understand that the Board Room was fully occupied for the last game, compared to the Cortese days when it was a bit embarrassing for away Directors and the like. Apparently Katherina brings a lot of friends to games she attends and seems to enjoy the experience, which hopefully is a good sign. I suppose we should be under no illusions that the Liebherr family had no initial interest in football, or Southampton FC, and probably still see it as an investment opportunity but the hope is that the football experience, decent results and the gratitude of Saints fans will ensure the family ownership will ensure the club continues to progress.
  3. Any creditors of the old company (perhaps Shareholders like me) received a letter from Begbies Traynor today? Haven't had time to look at the Report & Accounts yet. liquidators meeting to be held in London on 23rd May at 1100hrs Thought this had been all done and dusted!!
  4. A group of us were having a chat recently about our recent signings and the value for money they provided. Our initial thoughts were not too positives but once the detail has been examined it is perhaps not that bad, bearing in mind most clubs assume that the success rates for transfers in is normally below 75% For what it is worth here are our assessments of the current signings since entering the Prem. BORUC Cost - Free Value - Nil Rating 7.5/10 CLYNE " - £2.5m " - £4m " 7.5/10 LOVREN " - £8.0m " - £10m " 8.5/10 YOSHIDA " - £3.0m " - £2.5m " 6.5/10 MAYUKA " - £2.5m " - Nil " 0/10 OSVALDO " - £13m " - £10m " 3.0/10 RAMIREZ " - £12m " - £9m " 5.5/10 WANYAMA " - £10m " - £10m " 7.0/10 FORREN " - £3.0m " - Nil " 0/10 DAVIS " - £0.5m " - £1m " 8.0/10 RODRIGUEZ " - £8.0m " - £15m " 8.0/10 GAZZANIGA " - £1.5m " - Nil " 4.0/10 TOTAL £64.0m £61.5m So out of 12 players, four have proved to be real turkeys, although Gazzaniga is young and could improve,, six have been above average and two average. It would have been good to get more value out of our two bigger signings and not have to suffer the ignomy of the Forren and possibly Mayuka transfers but overall not too bad a performance
  5. Any one had to have them repaired and if so any local recommendations?
  6. Apparently our friends down the road will be using the Marchwood blueprint for their new training complex at Hilsea However it might start off more modestly
  7. Any one know if/how this presumed asset sits in the club's accounts? With the need for increased house building and the relaxation of planning laws is there any chance of development of Jacksons Farm to the benefit of the club? Presumably the grand plans for development of the stadium and surrounding area have now been shelved after publication of the less than wonderful annual accounts

    Mayuka

The forgotten man , or will he be back next year?
  9. George Is Bordeaux worth a visit? Always fancied it for some reason Do you watch the Girondins? Remember saints playing a two leg tie with them many years ago in the Anglo French Cup
  10. Can confirm that Rogers was definitely about to leave the area before a recall at the 11th hour
  11. 31,360 Approx. 1,200 short of capacity BUT Sold Out Signs at Ticket office Appreciate there were a few hundred seats lost to segregation and perhaps not sold out in Hospitality but there were small blocks of empty seats in various parts of the ground so these weren't due to the odd ticket holder not turning up Wonder if anyone on here tried to but a ticket on the day and missed out?

  14. Glad to see that I wasn't the only one who was hooked on the programme for all the wrong reasons In the same class as some of the 'dramas' on the ill fated Southampton TV
  15. Love the quote about the Tories looking to hire Fratton Park next year as they understand it could be a great place for a Conference
  16. I thought he might well make it Quite a powerful player with good leadership credentials Injuries would have taken their toll though Best of luck for the future
  17. Transport Liverpool One, Museums, Ferries, Tunnel, Underground Railway, selection of grand old buildings, one of the cathedrals and some grand old 19th century renovated housing stock and iconic buildings down here and combine with our parks, nicer suburbs, proximity to the New Forest and London and better climate and it would be a decent mix. Some of the scouse humour wouldn't go amiss either
  18. Barry Interested to know what is incorrect. Also not sure why it is deemed unhelpful. Meanwhile if you are young and out for a good time Liverpool has far more to offer than Southampton and house prices and entertainment are generally cheaper than down here so money goes further. There is a thriving black economy which helps too. Lots of scallies to contend with though but generally the natives are friendly
  19. Barry A few points here in response to your post: 1. Liverpool is a great city to visit. However 20 years ago it was in a mess. Since then £2 billion worth of EC and Uk Grant money has been thrown in to pump prime the city centre and waterfront. In comparison Southampton has received buttons. Land is much more expensive in Soton than Liverpool so investors need an incentive to develop here 2. As far as I am aware it has not cost the taxpayer a penny to fund the provision of 4 cruise terminals in Southampton Port. In comparison the Liverpool facility has been funded by EC Grants plus the Liverpool Council Tax payer 3. Southampton is still likely to be No1 UK cruise port for the foreseeable future for a number of reasons. Hope this helps
  20. Used to see him down at the old Car Auction next to Ranks Mill back in the 70's
  21. Same thing happened to me at Rownhams Service Station a couple of year ago. Used the slip road on the east side to access the M27 and four hours later came back on the west side slip. Cameras clocked me four hours apart although I was actually on the Service Station property for approx. 2 mins Felt I ought to explain/complain but on advice from posters on here at the time ignored the two letters and it all went away
  22. As I recollect the Tom Finney statue was taken from a photo during Preston's game at Stamford Bridge back in the 1950's. Bill Shankly reckoned that Tom Finney was the best player he had ever seen. He could play across every forward position. Very loyal man and actually had his own plumbing business which helped keep him going in the summer months when players (even great ones) were on very reduced wages. So much different to nowadays. Thoughts are with Tom's family and those Preston fans who continue to hold Tom as an icon of their club
  23. Other thing to consider is that our starting line up had 7 British players in the starting line up and probably their combined weekly wages are about the same as the reported £250k pw being offered to Wayne Rooney
  24. Nile Ranger!!!
