Dyer on 8k a week, tell me you jest sir. We HAD to offer him a contract of some sort I think, otherwise he just walks away for free, no "formation compensation" no nothing. We probably offered him about 4K a week and as he couldn't get anything better he grudgingly accepted it.
-
Nah he's not anywhere fit enough, sorry you can't keep chopping and changing the defence to accommodate one guy. So he played tomorrow, he wouldn't play against Norwich anyway.Nothing said that Svensson would have been really fit enough for tomorrow. Time for that particular experiment to end. The defence is James-Perry-Cork-Mills, that's the way it should stay until we get Thomas back in action. Jan is biting the bullet here, he knew what he was doing, rest is sound bite.

Great, a morale booster for the troops. Effective cost cutting at last.

But they'll get relegated as likely as not, they'll all being baling (ouch) out . Couldn't happen to a nicer club. They have sold the players that matter, the others will not fill their boots. I suspect if you look closely the 46 goals scored by Keane and Berbatov are the difference between survival and failure. If Pavulychenko (or whatever) can't fill the boots of the departed they will not survive.Ramos won't stand being in the shadow of Benitez for long.Another month or so without league wins and he'll be off, he likes winning does Juande.

What's the difference between our young team developing together who are sh!te and Spurs young team developing together who are sh!te then?

Scooby is God, he's omnipresent and omniscient. he supports all of humanity-except Crouch apparently.,
-
Yep, probably said that because he can't see the wheat for the trees.

Strange that you should point that out Puff, just as I was saying it would have to be proved to me that Lowe has no personal fortune. Shareholding in WHI must be worth about 600K nowadays, not the sort of sum your average street beggar has at his disposal.

Ah this is indeed the nub of the affair. Football is entertainment and it'd better be good. Now when I was a regular, going to the game was the entertainment, the quality of the football was ancillary. An afternoon out with your mates. You could jump up and down, sing your head off, bawl obscenities to your hearts content, insult players, ref, the bill, other supporters to your hearts content and have a thouroughly good time. Women were scarce (in the Milton),Mums, Grannies and kids nowhere in sight.Football was a mans game, played by men for men (in the majority, apart from the West stand high up). One felt part of a community for a couple of hours and being there was just as important as what was on offer on the green rectangle. Bygone age it would seem, now it's like going to the flicks, must have stars and a good plot and a choc-ice in the interlude.

Ah not sure you're entirely right there OSM, it would have to be proven to me that the personal fortunes of both Lowe and Wilde are non existent. Limited companies can have plenty of debts without their principal shareholders being paupers.
-
What do you mean? What a surprise that Alpine forgot to tell us the original message on TUI had been changed or What a surprise that Wilde isn't investing?. There are senior posters from TUI here today, strange that none of them mentioned it either. Touting for business perhaps. Anyway as it stands nobody can buy anybody out without bidding for the whole share issue. Simple enough but perhaps some of them have personal guarantees in place for debts and such like that would have to be bought out as well. f you look at certain of the annual account you will see that the bank lending is a "secured loan" .Whether this is still the case or not who knows, but against what it is secured ? who knows.
-
Well of course he isn't. Whatever silly ass put up the original message has forgotten to tell you all that it was taken down and replace by -nah it's a hoax-like Wilde soon after.

Jan said exactly that on the OS before the Rotherham game, but he hasn't much choice, if he wants wingers he's got to look to McG,Dyer and BWP. Still don't understand Skacel, don't understand why he signed a new contract, don't think getting loaned out abroad would terminate his old one.It was rumoured that Crouch paid some of his salary out of his own pocket-denied of course, so probably not true. No Crouch=No Skacel. Could be bad blood somewhere as it is reported (on a Marseille site no less) that Skacel insisted on being loaned to Berlin (or a better team than us) in order for his chance of being selected for Euro 2008 would be bettered. He asked to be loaned out....could be some bad feeling somewhere about that. -
Don't be daft Richmond, it's not a lack of respect, it's a lack of savoir faire and intelligence. Some of our player obviously aren't the sharpest tools in the box and they don't understand what they've to do. Not because the coach is incapable of explaining it to them but because they're incapable of understanding point. What's he to do ? drop them_oh yeh and replace them with who? the youth team, nah we've already done that. We have a squad of 29 players, about 9 are injured or can't perform every game.Jan has a couple of one trick ponies who can only do one thing and they always gravitate towards that. BWP, Dyer and McGoldrick, Jan said so after the Barnsley game. He has no option but for to play them that all.We have too many games in a short time for the severely limited squad we have that's all. Thanks a bunch international week.

Too true, he's wasted as assistant manager for Northern Ireland. I don't doubt if you look at West Ham's results they're a lot better when he was there than when he wasn't(could be wrong, I haven't looked).

Doubt it actually, you can see similar football on any of the public recreation spaces in and around the city, any old Saturday or Sunday will do. You have to remember in those days players actually stepped up from Sholing Sports and Thorneycroft Athletic to professional sides.Saints A (third side) was a mix of local talent, young apprentices from the club and the occasional player coming back from long term injury. Played in the Hampshire League.I don't doubt that there are a few others on this forum who've put in at least one performance for Southampton A. A lot of the tackles that went down as serious crowd pleasers in the 60's would be straight reds nowadays. The one Lancashire got done for was a ballet step compared to hundreds that thrilled the crowd on a Saturday, week in week out. A player would run and launch himself into a furrow ploughing slide that took out everything in it's path, ball, players, cameramen-whatever that came into his path;Sliding tackles of 15 yards were not extraordinary.Kicked up in the air meant exactly that. -

Then again you probably never saw Docker Walker, Cliff Huxford or Tommy Mulgrew. When shankly called us an alehouse team he was not a million miles from the truth. At one time I played a few games with an ageing Tommy Traynor and a slightly less ageing Bobby McClooughlin-they had no skill whatsoever.Sorry to the old guys but if those boyos were still wearing the shirt we'd be down to 8 men after 3 or 4 minutes (so would the others mind you). Jimmy Gabriel-to this day the only player sent off on a stretcher??? -
He'd probably send the hand out to New Orleans Saints.
-
Where did you hear that then Scooby? On the Audi Worshippers Punk Rock and Crisp forum?.
-
I doubt if you'd get Skate FC for anything less than 250 million just now actually.
-
Just a wind up, don't worry. If there's any buying out it will be the other way round
-
Aren't being hung out to dry, they're injured for the most part.If we'd have had Davis instead of that joker Bart on Tuesday we might just be less dispirited today. If we'd had Thomas available in defence, if we'd been able to play Euell or Holmes in midfield instead of the trash duo,it might have been so different. If Skacel isn't playing there's a reason,if it was a question of money John wouldn't be playing either. Skacel was in the squad on Tuesday, he didn't play. There must be a reason for that, and I don't think it's got anything to do with money.

My Mum stayed, mending Halifaxes at Cunliffes, probably why I always think Saints will win and that we'll get there one day.:):)

Justly. If a striker is crap or a midfield player, well you might get away with it. If a goalkeeper is as dire as I'm led to believe Bart was on Tuesday-you pay cash,it's as certain as death and taxes. Davis has a neck problem that required injections, hopefully he'll be OK for Saturday but if not-well I hope they play Forecast. If our defence started trying to do things differently because they had no confidence whatsoever in Bart-well you can see what happens. -

Certainly doesn't get past the spelling filter though.
