Hampshire CCC 2018 Season thread.

Thankfully the T20 farce will soon be over and we can get back to "proper" cricket. I don't mind the 50 over game but T20 is just a slogfest which we don't seem at all good at right now; Yesterday Vince and Rossouw 80 runs from 37 balls, all the others 71 from 83 balls. What's happened to Munro, did he give up on us or has he some sort of injury? -

Looking like another awful batting performance again today. Rossouw and Vince make runs quickly but get out on 15 or 16 every time, the rest just aren't T20 batsmen really. Perhaps they're all saving their efforts for the 4 day game which would be a good thing. -
Nasri is suspended until the 1st January 2019 so no sane club will take him on before that.

So Targett at the same price as Lucas Digne......don't think we'll be seeing that deal at any time soon really. -

The academy pathway worked well enough until the performance levels required in the Premier League passed beyond the capacities of all but the very, very best. -

Looked like Alsop and Dawson were incapable of maintaining a fairly easy run rate. Has happened to Alsop before I think. And why exactly Vince is opening beats me. Let Rossouw do it or even Alsop.. -

Doesn't seem to be much cricket at the moment. This is one of the reasons why I so despise the T20. A 3 hour slog every 3 or 4 days and that's it. -
Don't think he'd want to go to West Ham anyway. Probably got something better sort of lined up if anything. Monaco, something like that. Monaco are having there annual sale and will soon start their annual buy in.

Richarlison is much younger, probably less troublesome and an attacking player. I really don't care whether Lemina stays or goes, he was a pain in tha ass at Marseille when he got a sniff of Juventus and I expect him to be the same again with us. He'll have good games and catastrophic games and I'm not sure that's what we need just now. We need players we can rely on.
-
It is not today's market. 35 million buys you a player of great quality which Lemina isn't. How many 35 million £ + transfers have there actually been this summer ?
-
35 million? You are just a dreamer. Bloke has no credentials for us to be asking that sort of price and we no doubt know it. We bought him for 15 or 16 a year ago and he's done very little to double that sum. He's not a goal scorer or a goal maker. 25 would be a price that should not be sniffed at...if he really wants to go that is.
-
I really don't know why you think that we could get so much money for Lemina that we could buy 3 premier league standard players with it.
-
Everton are in the same boat as us, can't get really good players because they have no status and a turbulent managerial succession. Class players prefer to be a Utd or Juventus reserve than scrap it out in the nether regions of the Premier League. Digne (who'll probably go to the Toffees anyway) has recently said it was a last resort and he's still hoping for something better...great mentality anyway. Everton's awful fans get after their players for anything at all and even if they have a reasonable game they get regally slagged off by their band of haters. Who'd want to go there anyway.
-
Kind of depends if Lemina is fit to play any too often. These serial injury blokes never get any more reliable really. Look at Walcott with Everton, good job he didn't sign for Saints. Bloke is always injured.
-
You'd think so wouldn't you. Mind you I had a research assistant once who had a "back problem". Must have visited loads of docs to get sick notes and not one of them ever found the real cause (if indeed there was one). Back problems, the leadswingers fallback.

How many of the France 2018 group play in the lower bastions of Ligue 1 ? None at all is the answer. In fact none of them play for a club outside of the Top 4. This is normal because of the vast gulf in annual budgets. Dijon's annual budget is a couple of million more than we wasted on Carrillo. So they and their other 15 Ligue 1 also rans can never keep hold of a decent player because they just can't pay enough. France produces some excellent footballers, most of them of African descent these days but they can't keep them in France.
-
Unless he's so set on going that he'll be totally useless to us in any case. I've seen his attitude questioned before, probably when he wanted to leave the O.M.
-
Why would they want to do that then ? PSG are going to make a big pitch for Kante, don't know if they'll be successful, probably not but they'll need to keep Drinkwater around for the time being.
-
Rennes came 5th and are in Europe, Lamouchi is a wise old owl. Think they start their qualification games soon. Saw some of that game. Everton are just way too offensive with Silva and when the oppo has speedy african wingers it's just asking for trouble. Baines and Coleman don't seem to defend any more and with a 2-1-1-4-2 system that they seem to have it's just asking for trouble. Doubt if Silva will last very long, maybe just a month or two.
-
Oh really, when will that be then? He will have good games and atrocious games, same as he has done up until now.
-
No, I'm just not a fan of the bog average Ligue 1. Everybody knows that, I've seen it degraded little by little every year due to pure lack of money and now it's what I say it is, absolute rubbish below the 8th or 9th place. When I first came here I went to games every week. then a couple of time a month and then I got fed up paying a decent amount of money to watch public rec football.
-
You can judge Dijon without ever seeing them play anywhere at all. they are rank awful. A substandard side who should not be in a top division anywhere, then again neither should any of the 9 teams that finished below them last season. All the really decent french players either play for a foreign side, PSG, Lyon,Monaco or Marseille (and then some). The rest are just a step above public rec standard really.
-
Not looking too good is praise indeed for them. They are just rank awful and the fact that they were mid table in Ligue 1 last season is an indication of just what a mess that league is.
-
Only losing 2-0 would be a good result for them. Once again they have deluded fans.
-
Thing is those were the days when unfashionable clubs could still attract the odd top player. Now if you're not in Europe and not likely to win anything you're just consigned to rooting about in the expensive maybe/maybe not dross bucket. Football has changed because there is so much money washing about that top clubs throught Europe can now just hoover up any player who looks half decent. They don't need them but they don't need anyone else to have them either.
