  1. I hate us being in the third division, never mind about all the other clubs.
  2. Of course it would be but as we've a bit of a handicap because of our crap start it may not be.
  3. But he was already dropped up until last Saturday. He hasn't been right since he came back from bleuets duty to find himself dropped and replaced by Chaplow.Just started the game when Deano was suspended since then(Oldham must have been), subbed and subsequently dropped again, given 'time off against Shrewsbury' and then recalled but only because the system changed . He might have actually wanted to go the StE, it's a good outfit now and they're riding high, would have been a good move for him but we probably priced him out of the market cos a million £ was all they could afford and then probably not all at once, no money in french football nowadays.
  4. Probably just waiting for the 1st of January, his mentor has gone, probably doesn't understand exactly what NA wants, expected to be at the point of the attack and at the heart of the defence at the same time, probably just gobbledygook to him. Worked well with Puncheon and Antonio now just biding his time until the nightmare ends.
  5. they still got crapped on yesterday though...at home as well. Remember seeing that Gyan at Rennes last year, didn't really rate him,a bit hit and miss but Chelsea obviously didn't know much about him and paid the price.
  6. He's probably right, you have to admit that going forwards we looked pretty good, going backwards...well that's something else altogether.Still think we'd have done better with Seaborne(or Martin) instead of Jaidi because he was non-existent again a side that use the ball below head height.Out of place for the 1st two goals as well. I hope we use the same formation again because I think it works.
  7. Here ya go, the theory behind zone marking at corners,if your keeper doesn't come for the ball you're shàgged more often that not. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/rules_and_equipment/4685580.stm
  8. A decent keeper would have come out and claimed that ball though anyway. It wasn't very high and it wasn't far out.As for the man on the post it was pointless, we covered the far post only, no-one on the near post at all.True the ball went in at the far post and Dan might well have cleared it if he hadn't just swung a boot at it but it was always no better than a 50/50 chance anyway. Anyway leading up to the corner, which came from Chaplow losing a ball that he should have won,our 3 central midfielders were in a patch about 2 yards square, that can't be right surely. Last addition, Morgan needs to get that 5th yellow and get the suspension out of the way,for the cup game in 2 weeks if possible, it's affecting his tackling, perhaps the coaches have told him to get no more cards. Nope one more add on, is Fonte usually good at dead ball situations? I just can't remember.
  9. Also I note that the opposition aren't giving away free kicks 30 yards out nowadays, how many goals did he get from those last season by the way?? Also if he's got an injury take him off and start with Barnard, with the 5 pronged attack coming from midfield he'll probably be of more use than the immobile Lambert anyway.
  10. They've lost Lua Lua and have a cup replay, we really didn't look that bad from the highlights...really not, w because they are marking some sort of area between the near post and the penalty spot.
  11. Correct, both Brighton and Huddersfield got crapped on this week as well, now if you'd asked me on Saturday morning what I thought Brighton would do against Hartlepool I'd have said easy winners, but they lost 3-1, perhaps this is one of the problems of this league even the better teams don't have much variety in their arsenal and once their strengths and weaknesses are sussed then they are beatable. Our problems at the back are plain for all to see, lack of pace and this ridiculous zone marking system at corners because from what I can see the problem is always the same, a runner from the back slotting into the grey area between the zones and having a simple easy header against a non defender. We should go back to man for man marking at corners so that our central defenders are on the biggest threats and not up against a 3ft 2 midget who won't head the ball in a 1000 years, also tell Davis to get off his flipping line at claim the ball.
  12. thought as much (if you're right of course). Could be the "problem" in more than one case as I did hear that the St Etienne offer for Morgan was a "concrete" fact, but then again it was only at the "buvette" at a Clermont-St Etienne warm up game.
  13. In fact I thought they both looked better going forward than they did in their defensive duties. Both were well forward a lot of the time and both had a few goal efforts, some of the not too bad and some well....wretched.I didn't see that there was very much wrong with us going forward at all,it's on the defensive side that we're erring,we don't seem to be able to defend against kick and rush at all well and this can only because everybody we have at the back lacks pace.I think we're sorely missing Butterfield who does seem to have a bit.
  14. but it's not the same team is it, there in lies the rub.
  15. This is good to know then, but for a lot of the imminent depression around here you have to blame that arch-whiner Merrington.
  16. I do sometimes wonder if we turned down an offer (or priced him out of the market)for him this summer from a side he fancied playing for and he's taken it to heart a bit. This could apply in a couple of other cases as well.
  17. And boy did he spend all afternoon whining about it yesterday. Bloke is a dinosaur, there must be someone more adequate than he. The other thing that gets me is when one of our lads just has to make a bad tackle and take one for the team.He goes on and on and on about saying that the club should stamp it out and discipline the culprit etc etc etc.Jeez they must have been real fairies in the teams he managed.
  18. Reading were reported to have been interested in the summer, a million £ was being mentioned.Whether they still are remains to be seen.
  19. to ship players out you need willing acquirers as we have often found out in the past. Some of those who may want to go may not be amongst those who we don't want to keep. I can see some transfer requests as well, some may have already gone in ,who knows.
  20. I can see his lack of pace and condition, it's far easier to spot, means you're 2 or 3 yards short on every ball.
  21. Carlisle have been on a roll of late, nothing like a 6-0 thumping of a non league minnow to boost your confidence, followed by a JPT win, that's why the JPT was so important last season,it boosted moral and gave us the possibility to try things out.
  22. Although I seem to remember NA saying something in his post match about the wide men not getting in enough.
  23. Wasting talent is something we've always been pretty handy at.
  24. Same sort of 4-4-1-1 that Carlisle played yesterday then. Would probably be good but in that system the front man has to be particularly percussive.
  25. I've just noticed that their goals (apart from Dan's OG) were scored by players on loan from EPL clubs, pity we can't seem to get any of those then; wonder why.
