  1. Barclays Bank????
  2. Real ambition??? you are deluded, if we had real ambition we wouldn't be 15th in League 1 and we'd have stopped tarting about with players like Lambert and Puncheon weeks ago if not before. We have a plan, whether we have the means to carry it out is something completely different.
  3. We will go up if we can find someone to score goals
  4. clubs with genuine ambition get to keep their best young players, but as you can probably count these on your fingers the best players always get drawn into a sort of success/reputation vacuum and then just move about inside it.Man U,Chelsea,Man C,Real,Barca,Bayern, two Milan clubs,Juventus+ Arsenal (from time to time ) and that's about it.These clubs always have endless ambition fuelled by endless money.Real can buy a player for 80 million and pay it off with a year's sale of shirts bearing his name, media rights cover all the rest.No matter how broke or indebted they are these clubs always have money for other clubs "stars".
  5. made by Georges Prost would be more fitting. Now he's doing it again in Lyon.
  6. because he would never play at a sufficiently high level to show it.Playing for Saints in the last 10 years or so is a real conundrum, players may love the club but they just have to leave cos we will never go anywhere because we fill our side with mediocrity all the time. Lallana and Morgan need to leave as soon as possible to develop their talents to the full because at SFC they'll always be considered as second best to (relative) crap like Lambert.
  7. Platini closely followed by Zidane and Cantona (who I was lucky enough to see when he was about 16 at Auxerre)
  8. Anyway NA called them sloppy goals, I guess he knows what he's talking about eh?
  9. Bart having a good game seemingly, I do sometimes wonder whether we'd be better off with him in the first team, but then I remember the League Cup tie at Rotherham.
  10. But not when you're 35, is that right. Anyway it's just a name, U21s,development squad whatever, it's the reserves.
  11. Richardson and Dickson playing in this match, strange to see our two summer signings playing in the reserves, for entirely different reasons though.Very few of the younger players in action anyway, it seems to be a test side for the first team more than anything else. Bart,Richardson,Jaidi,Martin, Dickson,AOC,Wotton,Holmes,Doble,Reeves plus one I can't remember.
  12. I don't think he's participated in any Serie A games at all as yet, anyway Fiorentina are bottom with 5 points from 7 games.
  13. From the little I've seen Chaplow is spending far too much time in front of our strikers, leaving Hammond the defensive role. Puncheon and Lallana are there to aid the attack, Chaplow needs to take his defensive duties more seriously cos with just Hammond doing it we're shàgged in advance. When we have a CM pairing of Morgan and Chaplow this Saturday the difference will be there for all to see.
  14. Well from the brief "highlights" on the OS I'd say that the first was sloppy, bad marking gave Gudjohnssen a free crack at goal. Two of our players were dragged out of place by the corner routine (which we should have known about) and the free shot hit the post (or bar) and led to the goal.
  15. unsurprising, a Commodore 64 in a 3 gigabyte age.
  16. nope he said he'll be looking for a quarterback in the first round of the draft. Liverpool were crap yesterday, bloke must have wondered what he bought.
  17. Are 30+ strikers actually effective in this league ??(honest question) or is it rather a place for young bucks on the make.
  18. Being a seasoned marathon man of sorts (47 marathons PB in the 2 20s) I know that you have to be even paced, it's no good having a target time of 2hrs 30, running the first quarter in an hour and then hoping to run the remaining 19 and a half miles in 1hr 30. With 15 points on the board over a quarter of the way into the season this is what it would equate to roughly. We need nearly 90 we only have 1/6th of that 1/4 into the season, negative splits yes, but not that much.
  19. It's common sense really, horses for courses and all that.We should have gone with 3 DMs and broken them down no further back that half way into our own half. Guly was an absolutely stark raving monster loony choice, there's nothing for him against aggressive sides like Huddersfield, not when your strike partner is Ricky Immobile Lambert anyway. Puncheon adds nothing and Lallana probably lacks core fitness for a challenge like Huddersfield.
  20. He believed in all the hype about himself as likely as not, plus with Antonio and Papa on occasions opposing defences had more to worry about that just him.He was pivotal to our system to be sure but it was such that any side who parked the bus and shut Lambert down probably got a draw or better. Obviously that had to change and it has affected Lambert adversely for some reason or other. He may have come here to move up a League in 1 season and now with his career fading into the twilight never having played above League 1 level maybe he's grown totally disillusioned.
  21. Because we insist on playing the totally ineffective(from open play)Lambert. When someone somewhere has the gumption to drop him we'll be better off.
  22. Getting better, getting worse it matters not, we went into this game deluded by the facility of our win against Tranmere. Adkins got it totally wrong (unless of course Morgan has some sort of knock as he did get laid out against Turkey and then again in Denmark). we needed to go into this game with a 5 man midfield an Barnard in front of them to try to grind out a 0-0 draw or hit them on a lucky break.
  23. which is exactly what a lot of the more football knowledgeable posters have been saying all week;Tranmere was a very pretty performance but as they are totally zilch, nada, zero and all other definitions of totally dire it told us nothing,in fact it probably deceived us and lulled us into a false sense of well being concerning our game plan.
  24. FFS it's nothing to do with the midfield, it's about what's in front of them, has been since the opening day of the season.
