  1. Rupert Lowe Michael Wilde Charles Manson Paul Allen ...then Paul and I will just pop down the pub to share a beer and I can tell him there is nothing stopping him investing in our team anymore (assuming Manson is true to form....)
  2. 1) We survive...both financially and in the Championship. 2) Lowe wins the Lottery, pays off our debts and hands the club over to a Saints fan with enough cash to buy some experienced players to nurture our youngsters along. (Yeah, I'm dreaming, but I like to fantasise that there is good in everyone...) 3) This time next year we are 2nd from top in the Championship, not 2nd from bottom 4) Boxing Day2009 sees us spank the Skates, and their slide back to their natural habitat continues (I'll settle for them finishing 4th from bottom of the Championship as long as we get promoted back to the Premiership at the end of next season) Am I being greedy?????
  3. IF I was still in the UK, I wouldn't contemplate boycotting a game, or giving any of our creditors an opportunity to put us into administration. Maybe I am of the "old school" in that if you have a debt then you should pay it off, if at all possible. However...I would be in favour of a mass demonstration, but only after giving all my support to the team DURING the game. There is a time and place for these events. Maximum publicity, minimal harm to the CLUB. I want there to be a team for me to come back and support (if I get the chance). If we fill St Mary's, that is extra cash in the coffers to get rid of some of our debt. If we do get relegated I at least want it to be the result of the efforts (or lack thereof) from the team, not as the result of a punishment for trying to squirm out of our responsibilities to our debtors. Of course, there is always the possibility that we may survive this season, like we did last, and that if and when Lowe does go, we can start next season in the Championship, with a manageable debt level, and a Board who will back the club and the Manager. Just one more thing....if Lowe does go in the very near future, who is going to step into his place and take us to the promised land???
  4. At the end of the day, we are fans of Southampton FC. If we want to show our feelings, then the best way to do that is with a full house, in front of the cameras. Plenty of banners against Man Utd, and then a sit-down protest at the end. Give your all for the team during the match, cheer and applaud them off at the end, regardless of the result, and then refuse to leave at the end. If there are still 20,000 plus in the ground 30 minutes after the match, chanting anti-Lowe songs it will make headlines! - especially if the TV mob at the match are expecting it!
  5. Nick Holmes - better defensively than Dave Armstrong, and more versatile too. It's not as if we won't be capable of scoring a few with our chosen midfield and our options available for the front two, is it! (unlike the current mob...)
  6. There are Saints supporters...and then there are Saints fans. We all support the Saints and I wish you all a Merry Xmas, but to the fellow fans (which alot of people have forgotten is actually short for fanatic) my christmas wish is for us to still have a team to support this time next year, no matter what league we might be in. If we're still in The Championship then I hope for all of our sakes that we are being run by someone who cares for the club and who can help us build from our current position of debt, confusion and p1ss poor football!
  7. Don't people from non-EC countries have to have work permits to play in our league? And aren't there strict guidelines as to whether they can be awarded? I hope I'm wrong, but I am sure that is how we have missed out on several players over the years.....
  8. I wish I could say with certainty, but since moving to Australia 5 years ago I have only seen Saints from television highlights so I am only making a statement based on watching players from past seasons and making comparisons to present day players. My belief is that both DMG and Lallana are young players with alot of potential, but because of the dearth of talent in the rest of the team, they are unable to fulfill their potentials....yet... There have been countless players in the past who were deemed lazy (MLT springs to mind! - but you could add Rasiak to that list, or if you want to go back far enough then add the likes of Frank Worthington or Peter Osgood). The difference being is that they were surrounded by other talented players who complemented their abilities (how many goals would Ted McDougall have scored without Phil Boyer to do all his legwork? - and yes, I am showing my age...) The balance of the team is all wrong. Now whether that is the Manager's fault, or that he just has to make do with the players at his disposal and that they aren't good enough is a whole different debate. One thing is for sure - negativity does NOTHING to improve confidence. I do wish people would learn the difference between destructive and constructive criticism. Yes, based on what I have seen and read, neither of the players deserve to be in the team based on current form, but personal attacks are both rude and serve no purpose. For those that want them out of the team - come up with an alternative solution BASED ON THE PLAYERS AT OUR DISPOSAL (ie NOT players who are loaned out to other clubs!)
  9. I'm sure this has probably been mentioned elsewhere, but I tend to only skim alot of the threads because they are too depressing! - but with interest rates falling, has that helped our financial position at all? Does anybody know what sort of figures we might be looking at now? Maybe we aren't in such a desperate position to sell!
  10. It's definitely on in Australia. 6.30am Tuesday on FoxSports 2. Looks like a late start at the office for me then
  11. A couple of ways of generating extra cash would be :- 1. give a free Man Utd ticket to anyone purchasing a half season ticket 2. Sell the Man Utd ticket as a dual purchase with a ticket for the next home game which is Doncaster. Any other thought or lateral thinking on ways in which we can make the most of this opportunity?
