Do you think that the people on here who over react after ONE GAME of the season are also the sort of people who would consider themselves lost if they take one wrong turning in their car?? lol Do you think those same people would bother commenting if we had won, to say we are now going to win the league?? Of course not......they are just attention seekers who like winding people up, and who like to think the worst of situations. It makes me laugh, really...I get a mental picture of Dad's Army and Corporal Jones running around shouting "Don't panic"....lol I don't believe there are ANY Saints fans out there who were happy that we failed to win (I know I wasn't, and went to bed in a foul mood after watching the game on the internet down here), but most of them don't tend to over-react in the same manner. I don't think Saints fans are any worse than any other club either, and in the main I do believe we are better than most - certainly better than the blue few down the road!! WIFM...

Whatever happened to Pongy Johny?

Am I the only one who is thinking the brissie saints must all be dyslexic??? lol If we go to the match next week, we'll try and find you and the others, KINGSBRIDGE Saint! lol - just let us know where to find you.

What a sad start to our day down under. I feel like I have lost a close family member, even though the only moments we have shared were a couple of days at St Mary's and at Wembley, and the only thing we had in common was a passion for SFC. RIP Markus, and my condolences to your family

Can't believe some of the arrogant pr1cks that post on here. I hate to disillusion them, but we are a small team playing in Div 3 these days, and there are at least 40 clubs that can currently claim to be bigger clubs. Just because we have a wealthy owner, doesn't mean he intends spending his vast fortune on us, and certainly doesn't make us a big club YET. Derby games are one of the traditions of English football. If Poopy had gone out of business are they saying we wouldn't have a derby game to look forward to EVER?? Judging from the comments of the past few weeks I thought everyone was itching to get on with the new season, and now, one game into it, people are saying they can't be bothered. And I thought that team down the road had some shallow and fickle fans. Oh....and yes...I am a miserable s0d. I am still p1ssed off after building my hopes up for the new season and watching yet another disappointing start to the season - but if I was able to go to tonight's game do you think I would miss it? Not a chance.
-
Yep....agree with every sentiment! Moved to Aus 7 years ago also. I miss the buzz from matchdays so much, but there's no way I can give up this lifestyle permanently. Having said that...have converted the missus already ( a trip to wembley helped!) and when the youngest kid finishes school in 3 years we're gonna risk a year back in the UK and watch every match in the Premiership with the mighty Saints! (Of course they will be there!)

Vokes won't come to League one to be a back up. The only people who are likely to do that are premiership (or possibly Championship)has-beens, or Div1 or Div2 wannabees in my opinion....although I would love to be proved wrong! -
It appears that Nick Illingsworth has been refused a season ticket
AussieDog replied to hypochondriac's topic in The Saints
hey! I went down to my local the other day and they wouldn't let me in! Now I've been going there for near on 30 years, day in day out. I have me 2 pints of bitter and a game of darts and a bit of grumble, but I'm no trouble. Well....apart from that time I insulted the landlord and told everone how he was going to be the ruin of the place...oh and yeah I know I went to the local press and spouted me mouth off over how he runs the place and how he has his favourites and how he got rid of that young girl behind the bar with the big b00bies, just because she kept giving free pints away. Well...I know some of her friends were a bit suspect too, but that's not the point. Look, I know I've been trying to make a bit of money on the side, running coaches to the pub and charging me mates to come and check out the wench with the big b00bies, and I know they were disappointed when I forgot to tell them that they didn't really get free pizza when they came in the door, but I LOVE the place....how dare they! Anyone would think it was HIS pub and HIS reputation I was trying to ruin. I just want it run my way. I don't care if he loses money. Everyone realises that I know far more about running a football club... I mean pub...than he does. He's only been there 5 minutes and I've been drinking beer for 30 years!! Bl00dy stupid name anyway. Never know a boss called Nic yet who has done a good job! -
I hope we'll win....I think we'll draw....but we won't do as bad as Norwich did in their first match last season (didn't they lose 7-1 at home to Colchester???), and they ended up doing OK!

Eastleigh's DoF, Dave Malone in tonight's Echo
AussieDog replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
I have found that I very rarely agree with dune, but I have to agree 100% on this one. I am sure the Eastleigh DoF wouldn't be stupid enough to slander SFC about the agreement they made over Martin, so you have to take what he said on face value. That being the case, it is poor form to renege on the deal (plus they basically sent along a bunch of kids!) I'm all for SFC being run professionally and successfully (which I do feel is happening on the playing side), but they are certainly racking up the bad PR points in the past few months! As for the Echo...I have long since given up even reading their website, but it seems to me that Cortese can't have it both ways. If you are going to make enemies then you have to expect them to attack you! -
I don't think there is ONE person on this forum who has the "full picture" of what Cortese is like. There are a few who want to do their own mathematics on the subject (1+1=3?). I prefer to deal in facts. The only facts I actually know are that 13 months ago my club was going out of business, 4 months ago my team won a trophy for the first time in 34 years, and this season, for the first time in my memory, we are one of the favourites with the bookies to win something. I'm happy to cut the guy a bit of slack, even though some of the decisions that have come out in the past few months have appeared a bit bizarre.

Good to see we're heading towards the new season full of optimism. TBH I don't care whether we win or lose as there are no points at stake, but I'd like to think the majority of our team could actually hold their own in the CC, and that if it was an important game I would put money on us beating them at home anyhow (that doesn't mean I don't think we could improve the squad, though!).
-
Just out of curiosity...how many foreign players would you say have been successful for us (and by that, I also mean they must have been here for more than 1 season). I can only think of a handful - Golac (showing my age, here), Michael Svensson, Claus, Anders Svensson (debatable...),Schneiderlin (jury is s till out for me), Pahars, Kenwyn Jones???....surely there must be others???
-
I feel we certainly need cover in a few positions....GK (assuming Bart isn't staying), RB, CM and CF need some cover, but I trust Pardew to only buy to improve the squad and if he thinks some of the younger players have made made that leap forward, and some of our injured players are fully recovered (Holmes and Connelly in particular) then I am happy to trust in his judgement. Unlike some, I also think a couple of loan signings might be the answer and I also feel sure there is a lot of hard work going on in the background to strengthen. It's all well and good building a team for the Championship, but the number one priority is to get OUT of L1!!!
-
same here... i get no satisfaction out of watching brisbane roar. might be tempted to follow the new melbourne team, if they at least look simliar to a saints team...lol...at least on tv!

The Official Summer Transfers and HCDAJFU Thread
AussieDog replied to supersonic's topic in The Saints
I wouldn't base any opinion on a player playing in the Carling cup against premier opposition - most of the time they only put reserves out anyway. Did the City lad make many premiership appearances? -
Think Cortese has got every aspect right in dealing with his approach to setting the club up for the future. Don't like his PR skills (or perceived lack of). Of course, if we don't get promoted this year then my opinion will have changed!
-
We may not have any debt but we do have players tied in to contracts on good wages. The more successful we aspire to be, the higher those wage demands will get. I doubt very much we could sustain our present spending and ambitious plans without someone rich to bankroll us, at least until we are in the premiership.
-
In my opinion most wealthy people are either rich through inheritance, or rich through residual income, not capital gains. SFC could provide a fantastic stream of residual income if (when!) we are successful. I would imagine that ML is in it for the long haul, but Cortese will eventually move on to bigger and better things once (if?) he really has proved to be successful. I would think the real worry would be ff ML popped his clogs - he doesn't look overly fit and he certainly doesn't have age on his side. If that was to happen and his estate was either tied up in some form of probate, or no form of continuity has been provided for, then we would be back to the position we were in last year very quickly.
-
the Echo have been trying to shaft the club for years....I would personally prefer to see breaking news on the club website first anyway.
-
Classy When is the away kit out? If I'm going to buy online I might as well save some postage and get some of each (have converted the Aussie missus and kids to being Saints supporters of course, so everything suddenly becomes a whole lot more expensive...)

Joe Blochell?

pillars blocking the view fencing around the pitch terraces! people p1551ng on my leg on the terraces (OK, that was at White Hart Lane when 51000 of us crammed in in our last promotion season!) away games on clive foleys coaches (oh the shame....) austin hayes, steve mills, bobby stokes, alan ball, peter osgood...RIP all of you... Saints A team against Vospers in the Hampshire combination??? (I think) Saints teams with half the team having come from the youth team AND winning (think shearer, wallace's, leTiss, et al...)
-
To me the big bone of contention is the lack of advance notice, and is a serious lack of consideration for the fan base. Having said that....if people had carried on saving the money they were paying on their installments last year, once they had been paid off, then they probably wouldn't be in the position of bleating about it now! Oh....and for all you people out there suggestion getting another credit card - they really don't just give them away - you have to undergo credit checks and they quite often say no!
-
what a miserable b**t**d! The families of these people have not committed any crimes and are left in the lurch through no fault of their own. Yes, there will always be a more deserving charity no doubt, but that's no reason to denigrate their suffering.
