  1. That was a nasty fall Fonte had in the Leeds game....I'm just hoping he was only "rested" against Torquay rather than injured, but Saints play their cards close to their chest these days, so I'm not expecting any info from them before the game. My money is on a 1-1 if he plays.....not confident we'll get anything out of it if he doesn't.
  2. So who are we going to ship out then? We seem to be over supplied at left back now. Surely at least one should be expecting to get off the bus now! I have a gut feeling it will be Harding
  3. After seeing the riots in Toxteth I now know why Liverpool fans sing "You'll never walk alone"

    Leage 1

Same here. For me it's the "Ferguson factor"!
  5. I always thought he had the talent, but lacked the mental and physical strength to succeed. Looks like two years in League 1 has sorted both of those deficits out
  6. I think they are both good quality Championship keepers, but, much the same as the fact I wouldn't pick an outfield player on last seasons' form, I think we should pick whichever keeper has had the best pre-season, and it's then theirs to lose. Isn't that what competition is for?
  7. So because it's unlikely, we shouldn't dream of it? or even aim for it then? So I take it that we shouldn't bother entering the FA Cup each year either then? Of course it's highly unlikely that a 2nd Division club would possibly win that, so why bother entering at all. You've obviously never ever bought a lottery ticket either.
  8. You obviously only chose to read the parts that suited your limited ambitions. In the next breath you are saying we could finish 4th in one season. Funny that. I thought 4th place got a Champions League slot!
  9. What a negative and unimaginative way to think. Of course the Champions League is going to be hard to crack with the way the game is AT THE MOMENT. The game is undergoing change, and either the powers that be will make a change, or the fact that one or two of the "big clubs" will eventually go bankrupt will force a change. We need to be in a position to take advantage when that change happens, and if we do, then there is no reason why we couldn't challenge for Europe and even the Champions League. We may not win the Premier League (we haven't in the previous 125 years, so the odds are quite long! lol) ... but we were only 3 points off it once, so who's to say we can do that again? As long as whatever ambitions we have are well managed financially, then what's wrong in having a plan to be amongst the best? Fail to plan = plan to fail! I guess some people prefer to dwell on the negative so that they can be pleasantly surprised when their ambitions are exceeded. I prefer to aim high and enjoy the ride Oh....and didn't Blackburn win the league after being a nondescript lower league team for many years?? I'd settle for that, thank you
  10. As long as he gives 100% in matches and training, I really couldn't care less about quotes in the press. They've probably chucked him a few hundred quid (at least) for a 30 second chat and put their own spin on it. It's the nature of the sport/business that the better players want to a) test themselves in a better environment and b) earn a shedload of money. Saints need to ive in the here and now but keeping an eye on the future. It's as much a gamble for us keeping him as it is for us to sell him. If he bombs this year, or breaks his leg in his next game we've lost the opportunity to cash in and strengthen the team elsewhere. If we keep him and he sets the Championship alight in the next 6 months, maybe his valuation will double (and the really big spending does seem to happen in the January transfer wndow when clubs start to panic). Who's to say that the next player through on the conveyer belt isn't actually going to be better? James Ward-Prowse has been given a squad number and isn't even 17 until November, so they obviously have high hopes for him. We all thought Theo couldn't be replaced, yet some people are now saying AOC is even better (I don't think so personally, but I do thing Theo has underachieved so far). Bale looked useless in his first year at the Academy, by all reports, then suddenly made a massive leap forward in his second season. We seem to have exciting prospects coming through in defence, midfield and up front. I love being a Saints fan! lol
  11. $500k and a hefty sell-on in the full knowledge that will be on his way again within a couple of years would be a good deal IMHO
  12. I'd much rather we could play 3 or 4 players who can get BETWEEN 10-20 goals each - and I believe we have at least 6 players capable of doing this in The Championship (Oxo, Lallana, Connolly, Lambert, Barnard, Guly. Pick any 3 of those, and add one more. I don't like the idea of having all our eggs in 1 basket and relying on 1 new superstar player who might get 30 goals....what happens if they get injured (or more likely the opposition double tag him) and the goals dry up?? Other players are going to weigh in with odd goals and that equates to between 70 and 80 goals in a season. Keep the defence tight and that's a top 6 performance. Just a thought.....standing back and awaiting the flaming now for daring to be different...
  13. If I was that person and I was really bothered about what might be found, I think I would find a piece of disk wiping software and wipe it myself before handing it over,on the pretense of being helpful! Better to be in trouble for having nothing on there, than the consequences of finding sites that may actually be reason to terminate that person's employment....
  14. Dave Armstrong....thought he looked old & fat, but was the usung hero (along with Nick Holmes) in those days.
  15. difficult to pick one. From an enjoyment factor then no=one compares to Letiss...but if I was to pick one person to improve our current team, then it would probably have to be Shilton
  16. Saw Meatloaf at Romsey a couple of years ago.....truly aweful Have seen a few over here.. Blondie - once her voice had warmed up it was pretty good. Clapton - amazing Tom Jones - far better than I thought he would be Neil Diamond - another one far better than I thought he would be Stevie Nicks - maybe we just had bad seats but it's still the only concert I have ever walked out of Elton John - seen a few times but last couple were disapointing Rod Stewart - sounded Ok, but kept looking at his watch as if it was past his bedtime! Billy Joel - excellent and also a very funny guy Cher - still not sure whether she mimed or not - the sound was just too perfect so I have my suspicions, but she also spend more time changing costumes than she did actually singing. The trouble over here is the tickets are so expensive. Going to see Roger Waters next year - bought cheapest tickets which were well over a hundred quid each!
  17. AOC would probably earn more in one 3 year contract with Arsenal than he would in the next 10 years at Saints (unless NC's master plan actually comes off...big gamble though!!). At 18 what would you do? At the end of the day this is his PROFESSION. The signing on fee would probably be more than the average person earns in 10 years! Football is a mercenary game and there isn't one club in the world who doesn't lose players at some stage. Whatever happens, we'll carry on supporting Saints. I would like him to stay, but I don't really care either way, as long as adequate steps are taken to strengthen the team if he does go. Maybe there will be a different "wonder kid" to burst out of the academy stable this year?? There are certainly 2 or 3 outstanding candidates!! (Ward-Prowse and Sinclair spring to mind, although that's only based on what I have read)

    Golf

When I was in the UK I used to play off 10, but since moving to Australia have found I have had less time for golf and even gave up for a couple of years. Now play once a week and hack around in about 20 (water on every hole and I don't look very deep in the rough due to brown snakes and red bellied blacks...) Currently a member here.... http://www.riverlakes.com.au/ but currently having a house built here http://golf.gainsboroughgreens.com.au and will be joining this course next year. hopefully I will be able to get a few more games in then!
  19. applied for 2 grands worth of tickets spread across 6 different sports but not necessarily finals. Got absolutely zero, so after getting the kids excited for the past 3 years about their first ever trip to England and seeing the Olympics, we're left with the "2nd chance" application for events we're not interested in, or where the minimum price for tickets are in the hundreds of pounds each. Or we look for the thousands of "ticket packages" that will suddenly show up as you can be sure the big corporates got a shedload of tickets. Still...on the bright side, it's probably saved me 20 grand all up - so what if the kids are going to be miserable for the next couple of years.
  20. Maths is 110% easier now than when we was at school three quarters of students get A grades because they've done their homework and the other half get C grades for being able to write their names on the exam paper. English to. All you need is a capital letter at the start of a sentence and a full stop at the end. Anyone can work the rest of it out. Exams....all a waste of time if you ask me. when I was a lad we did a paper round before school eight hours in the class room 3 hours homework a night and still had time for a w#nk before dinner. the kids these days don't know how easy they have it
  21. their are too things that annoy me....won is bad spelling and the other is when theyr'e always using the wrong version of a word two make there point!
  22. you might have somethink there
  23. applied for 4 days worth of tickets for 4 people to various events .....got sweet f.a. Good job I can't book flights this far in advance or I'd be really ****ed off
  24. I'm sure he was contributing as much of his "wages" as you were. just because he did it at St Mary's doesn't make him a bad person. I suppose you think everyone who charged for their services at St MAry's should have given it for free too! My brother earns a pittance and used to deliver the beer to St Mary's. Should he have given up his wages too? Moron.
