If we lose and Tottenham win we will slip out of 4th place, but we still have to play them at our place so it would still be in our hands. If Arsenal win....well it does make it that much harder. I just can't wish Spurs to win though, so a draw it is (even though that puts Arsenal above us if we lose) Having said that...I think we will win 3-1

After 20 minutes I just had the feeling we were going to lose 1-0 - although I thought it would be Dyer who scored the goal. For all our possession we just didn't get enough shots on target and our play seemed very one-dimensional. Everything was pushed out wide (apart from at the end when we seemed to just lump the ball forward). At one point in the first half we seemed to have 4 wingers with both Bertrand and Clyne bombing forward, and I was disappointed that neither Elia (although I thought he had some great touches) or Tadic seemed to want to come inside and play off Pelle and look for the loose balls. Disappointed to see that Arsenal stuck 5 away as well and have now virtually caught up our goal difference too. This is where Koeman and team really needs to earn their money and come up with something (Lionel Messi would be nice ), but let's be honest, we were never going to carry on and win every game. I think that although it's not a "must win" game against QPR, if we do, we can then go on a little run - at least up until the Chelsea game . If we were to win the next 5 (which means beating West Ham and Liverpool at home and hopefully finishing them off as challengers) we could still be in for a great end of season. Or... it could be same old Saints. Flatter to deceive and finish amongst the also-rans. Hmmm....feeling despondent at the moment. Can't quite work out if my glass is half empty or half full.

I'm normally one of the "happy clappers" but I have a feeling this is where our season will start to unravel. Or maybe it's the memories of seasons gone where we would snatch defeat from the jaws of victory on a regular basis lol

I was there with a couple of mates. I must have been in some sort of dreamland, as I drove there, parked about 10 minutes from the ground and didn't see any trouble on the way in or the way out! I do remember going mental when we scored though. I think trouble must have avoided me back then, as I also spent a couple of years going up on Foley's coaches to virtually every away game early 80's and never once saw any trouble! (might also have been to do with the fact that I went with my girlfriend at the time and we spent most of the trip up and back making out. One of my wierdest memories of being on those coaches was realising that girls could actually pee standing up (and aim...). Classy bunch! I think I might have been quite a naive 20 year old back then!

I just dug out the 1st program from the 86/87 season (as an aside - QPR - Colin Clarke's debut where he scored a hat trick) which had the stats from the previous season. Le Tiss aged 23/games and scored 43 goals

Depends on what you class as a "kid". I wasn't aware of him until he made the Southampton team that played in the South East Counties League back in the 80's. I think he was 17 then. If I recall he scored over 50 goals the first season (and I think the next year Alan Shearer replicated the feat!). He was a class above everyone and looked so lazy in the game but walked off scoring a hatrick or more in many games. If my memory serves me correctly they used to play their games at stoneham lane? and anyone could just turn up to watch. Happy to be corrected on that, as the memory is starting to play tricks It's hard to find details of any of that period online but I might dig out some of my old programs tonight and have a look through. Great memories

A dually, there's not much to choose in my memory banks. I loved watching us win the cup - on TV, though, as I couldn't get a ticket. However, I went to close on 40 games that year so the memories are just as strong

If it is a question of showing remorse - or an UNDERSTANDING of remorse, then that could easily be resolved by a cleverly worded statement, without him compromising any appeals process. I find it strange that he hasn't done that. Obviously rape is a very emotive subject, and if I had a son or daughter who had been raped by someone, then, personally, I would hound* them for the rest of their lives - BUT - we have a justice system who has seen fit to release him back into society, and that being the case he should be entitled to earn a living using the skills that he has acquired - ie football. Whether a job is high profile or not really shouldn't be in question. If that isn't the case, then maybe part of sentencing after commital should also include any restrictions on future careers after prison time has been served (as is the case with child molesters?) * when I say hound, I obviously mean in a legal way, not as in tracking them down and cutting their balls off and shoving a red hot poker up their arse - just sayin'!

I'm over the disappointment of losing already. The bigger disappointment is that we still have the Saints mentality of old. If you're looking for bad results, I think Tranmere away and Watford away were still way above this one. Not sure if that's a positive or not What's the saying? Form is temporary, class is permanent? I've had enough of this temporary cr4p. Heads up lads!

Koeman was happy to take the plaudits when we were playing out of our skins, now he has to take the flak and take a long, hard look at some players. I do hope he is not the sort of Manager who has "favourites". Mane has played half a dozen games in succession where he has been the worst player on the pitch for us. Why is he still in the 1st 11? If anything, he has contributed to the bad form of others as he pulls our own players out of position and then they get caught when he loses the ball - plus he gives away stupid fouls. I didn't see any of the game, but Schneiderlin and JWP deserve a bit of a break as they have just come back from injury and that was not the sort of game you can ease yourself back in to, and judging from the live feed on BBC there were some heavy challenges flying in from both side all game. Yes, we know the u21's and academy players aren't as good as the first team - when ON FORM! - but several of the first team AREN'T on form, so give some others a chance. They should AT LEAST be on the bench! It seems totally unprofessional to me to not name a full bench. Stick a youth team player on if you have to, just for the experience. Remember Danny Wallace and Reuben Agboola getting their chances against Man Utd? (well alot of you probably won't because you aren't as old as me haha). The U21's played the previous night but he could easily have called 2 or 3 of them up to Sheffield straight after the game. I don't believe for one second that they wouldn't have been fit enough to sit on the bench and maybe play 20-30 minutes! What on earth does Seager or Rowe have to do to get a chance - especially Seager who has ALWAYS created chances for himself (and others). Looking at the next 4 games, 4 points would be a bonus!
