  1. I like the idea but I would have thought the likehood is that major overseas corporations would either put their prices up OR scale back their operations in Australia. I do think aussies have an overly inflated opinion of themselves and their country's importance in the big scheme of things (and I live there, so it's not an opinion I share too freely in general public...lol). Australia is a continent which has a smaller population than some cities. Now the people we really SHOULD be taxing are entities such as the Banks who rip everyone off and make BILLIONS every year (the "big 4" made over 27 billion in 2013).
  2. Memories are fading, but I do remember going with my Dad, who was hadn't been to a game before. He was working in the morning so we didn't end up leaving Romsey until 1.30! We still got there before kick off somehow. I remember him driving at 120mph+ up the M3. Not a Cop in sight. Pretty good going for a Mark II Cortina (which just happened to have a 3.0 V6 dropped in it haha)
  3. Davis has been our best player so far! (Kelvin, that is...). The other one has been completely off the pace. The whole team seems disjointed though. Long has worked hard but his touch has been poor. Would be happy to see both Steve Davis and Long replaced at half time. Tadic on the left and JWP replacing Davis. As expected, the Ref has given us nothing though.
  4. I haven't watched MLS but I have watched A league. Just because MLS is played in a country of close to 300 million doesn't make it good (for example - have you ever watched some of the Indian league - now that really IS dire!). From what I have seen of the A league it's upper L1/ lower Championship level. The bad games truly are dire, but the better games can also be fairly good. Western Sydney Wanderers won the Asian version of the Champions League, which is a pretty good achievement. Having said that, I haven't seen one player playing here who would step into a top half Premier League side.

    Pelle?

Actually, I do think it's the way in which Saints play that has contributed to his lack of goals. So much of our play comes through him and because of that he is the main focus of attention for the opposition. If we had someone else who was also regularly scoring for them to worry about, then maybe he would find a bit more space in the penalty area. Having said that - his limited scoring attempts have been pretty weak for the past couple of months. Hopefully the goal will have boosted his confidence for the rest of the season though

  8. Generally speaking, I'm more disappointed when the "home grown" players move on. There are odd exceptions (Lambert being the most recent), but of the current side the only one I would feel a tinge of regret over would be Fonte as he is the last regular from Div 1 days. At the end of the day, they all go anyway. It's more important to have a management team with a plan (and budget) for the future.

  10. Keep the same starting 11 please , but mix the bench up a bit. Pelle, Seagar, Elia, Yoshida, K.Davis, JWP or Reed, Gallagher or Djuricic
  11. Watched it on my phone before I went to work this morning. I thought Gallagher worked really hard out on the right. Some good defending and looked strong on the ball as well. I think we made hard work of it with the strength of team we put out, though. Defence looked really solid. What on earth did the Liverpool guy do to get sent off? It looked like he had a verbal with the linesman when he didn't get a free kick but there must have been more to it to get a straight red?
  12. phew!!!. I couldn't take watching it after Palace hit the post, so I went to work instead (yep, it was THAT bad...lol). Got to work a couple of minutes of Mane had scored and then proceeded to spend the next 7 or 8 minutes pressing F5. That had to be the poorest performance of the season. So many unforced errors, so bereft of ideas. How did the subs play? Was that a turning point? Up until then I couldn't think of one player who stood out in a good way for us. Thank god Palace were equally as bad and that we had a bit of luck on our side. I know they were encouraged to shoot on sight...but 3 out of 23 on target? Some of those efforts were plainly ridiculous. I'm tying tho think of something positive. Oh yes... 3 POINTS!!!! :)
  13. Lots of huff and puff but little quality. Definitely not playing like a top 10 team at the moment. Reminds of the old relegation battles of years gone by. The final ball is truly appalling at the moment and the appears to be no confidence whatsoever.
  14. I think it's the obvious suspects to go, but wouldn't be surprised to see another large turnover in players now the Koeman has his feet firmly under the table and has had a bit of time to formulate a plan for next year. If we were to qualify for Champions League I would suspect the purse strings would be released a bit more, especially with the extra TV revenue from both that and the Sky deal. Outs : Boruc Ramirez Alderweireld Schneiderlin Clyne Elia Djurajcic Osvaldo (please!) Hooiveld Ins: Haven't a clue, as I don't follow the European Leagues, although there are some obvious names being chucked around such as Clasie. I really would like to see us with a 20 goal a year player, but they are incredibly rare and exorbitantly expensive. From the Premier League I think Ings, Austin, Benteke might be able to make the step up but as a cheeky outsider, why not pay the extra cash in wages and see if Utd would swap Clyne for Van Persie plus a cash adjustment our way? I know he's over 30, but 2 class (and injury free....) years from him could give us a chance to make the next step up. I have a feeling he will move on from Utd this year regardless. The big unknown is Rodriguez. Will he go? If he stays will he be the player he was before injury? After such a serious injury I think I would take the money and run. I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple more of the younger players become more regular with the 1st team, and I wouldn't mind that if we have invested heavily in just 2 or 3 top players. I think Reed is an awesome prospect and would be as good already as Schneiderlin was a couple of years ago - but is that good enough for us right now? I think Stephens will be back in the squad next year and that will be the make or break year for him. I also think McCarthy could step up on a regular basis and is at least as good as Byram - but I would love us to get Trippier. I'd love to see Seager get a chance before the end of this season to see how he does. From the time he joined, the coaching staff were saying he had an uncanny knack of being in the right place at the right time and it could be possible we have a gem right under our own noses if he is given the opportunity. It's about time one of our striking prospects made the breakthrough.
  15. I am totally happy that he missed - but fair play to the guy for having the bottle (or some could call it arrogance...) to volunteer to be the 5th penalty taker when they still had 6 others who didn't step forward for it, including Sterling and Toure. The latter having been a penalty taker at AFCON. As far as I am concerned there's only one more piece of karma to come into play and then I will be happy to call it quits - and that is for us to get Champions League ahead of Liverpool
  16. I always figured we would have a 2nd dip in form this season. A bit gutted that it has included the Liverpool game as that (and the Spurs game) was one I REALLY wanted to win. I guess it depends on how long this dip lasts. I wonder why things change so suddenly? Anyway.... Fingers crossed we find thewinning formula again this weekend and that we can kick on. All still to play for. What an awesome time to be a Saints fan and who could have thought we would be in this position 5 years ago!
  17. Watched it on TV and barely heard a whisper against Lallana other than when he got subbed, but could hear the boos against Lovren clearly enough
  18. We don't look as if we could score in a month of Sundays. That 2nd goal has been coming all half
  19. Fair enough. If that's an apology, then it's accepted. As for being pleased to see the other team score against saints - I guess I just appreciate good (and exciting) football. Would you rather see Saints win 1-0 or 3-2? At least we agree that Lovren and Lallana should be given plenty of stick
  20. I don't mind insults and "banter" directed at me, but I consider that cellone crossed the line with insults about my wife. What was the point? Did he think it was funny, or was he looking score some sort of online victory? Jeez...i some people.
  21. You're a rude and ignorant piece of work aren't you..typical keyboard warrior. Wouldn't have the balls to say that to me in person.
  22. A Lovren OG, a Gerrard penalty miss (because, even though he did miss his first ever one with them...lol...Lambert should be on the pitch and taking them), A Lallana dive and a booking, plus goals for Tadic, Pelle and Alderweireld to make it 4-0 would be great, thanks. Oh, stuff it. 4-1 with Rickie scoring a 93rd minute consolation. Now THAT would be perfect
