  1. Come on pal, no need for false modesty - you're probably right on JWP too, even if I don't ever recall you banging on about him. 18,00+ posts and you struggle to think of examples when your warnings/criticisms proved wrong. Its tough at the top.
  2. Understand - though still think we need someone who is strong and has a good brain and feet. Doesn't have to be pacey but more mobile than Lambert. We have tried playing Osvaldo and Rodriguez who have the movement and can play off the shoulder but they've struggled with the physical side and our slow patient build up play that requires them to link up more and help spring other players. I see the movement and pace coming from a Rodriguez or Lallana. Assuming Ramirez doesn't work out, an extra option there wouldn't go amiss. IMO the problem with Lambert is not his lack of mobility but his physical presence - its been a while since he's really dominated a CB or a defense that forces him to go less threatening parts of the pitch.
  3. Yep - who out of the European players you've seen would provide the best option in terms of hold up play?
  4. Thanks for pointing it out.
  5. Or simply ask why the "4 in 17" mantra starts with the Arsenal away defeat?
  6. Wrong in terms of your 'scepticism' or 'criticism' proving unfounded.
  7. What?
  8. Have you ever been wrong about anything on here?
  9. SO it was a good shout? Couldn't see the incident clearly from where I was.
  10. Nice one Mickey Let them enjoy being force fed BFS s**t. At least, they can hold their noses and tell themselves its 'effective' football. Alas the league table suggests its not as effective as our football. With seven 30+ year olds on the pitch for them, great to see BFS is thinking long-term. Absolute mugs.
  11. We were 1 down at Everton - at most we dropped a point not three. And for the analysis to be meaningful or useful, you would have to do exactly the same thing for every other team in the league. We're not the only ones to drop points.
  12. This is a match thread, involving Wham. You're the one off topic sunshine.
  13. As a dim man once said, wind it in you blurt.
  14. Bazza would move in next door and start cutting down your hedges. There is literally nowhere else to go if you want discuss Saints, so its not as if you can leave if you don't like things.
  15. Mate- going to be a tough sell to a fanbase made up of Joey Essexes, those on day release in the East Stand and senile old f**ts living in the past.
  16. Think they are partly transferable on a basic level - all these 'passing' sports (obviously rugby is slightly different because you cant pass forwards) require an understanding of space, how to make and exploit it along with the mental and planning side. How you gameplan for an opposition or the debate about what comes first -the system or the players- are the same regardless of the team sport. Remember Adkins saying that one of the best pieces of advice he got was from Steve McClaren who told him to look into American sports -basketball etc- as it was rich territory to find lessons that could be applied to football.
  17. Was out of his depth more than anything. But had nowhere near the previous of some posters. In all, was a convenient sacrificial lamb for the mods.
  18. The lino had a shocker - was right in front of us. Missed several offsides, wrongly missed that their ball went out of play on one occasion while flagged when Jrod was clearly in play. Gave them a free kick after an alleged shirt pull by Lambert but gave nothing when Lallana was barged over in the same spot mins later. The inconsistencies and errors piled up.
  19. They certainly looked fresh with the limited players and quality they have at their disposal, though by the same token we could have been suffering the proverbial cup hangover
  20. Good post.
  21. Or no better than Adkins when he has the same players at his disposal, isn't that right pal?
  22. Exactly - Cork had to deal with it and was exposed first half - not sure why a CB didn't go with Cole. Not as if they were really getting runners beyond him to catch the CB if one had been more aggressive and pushed up. At any rate, Cork could have dropped deeper to compensate. Anyway we dealt with it much better in the second half. Just a shame it was a crazy 5 mins, including an offside goal because they did very little.
