Guly hasn't been injured this season. He was left out of the squad after his DD incident and then returned to the bench. What happened to your Guly has-to-start-every-game rumour - was there a contractual renegotiation over the summer or an automatic clause kicked in on promotion?
-
If thats the case, NA will be here the rest of the season. After all, personnel, formations, transfers are all allegedly decided for NA. Which high profile, self-assured manager would in their right mind accept such a poisoned chalice?* *Disclaimer: the views expressed are solely those of the mongboard and do not necessarily state or reflect the views of the author

Would be interesting to know what Morgan really does given he covers more ground than any other prem footballer.
-
Yep, especially as Suh's hit on Cutler was pretty brutal.
-
Shame neither Rivers nor Cutler are there.

The club sent out the Pardew/Fontegate rumour? You're having a giraffe. That was another rumour started on here- you'll forgive me if that's why I discount most of the sh*t that's spewed on here.

Agree Vick has got zero protection, though he has some decent weapons -Maclin, Jackson, Slim Shady. Saying that the O-line is pretty banged up, patched together with a motley crew of back-up guards and tackles - if the Saints can pass rush/blitz, you know something's desparately wrong.

Morale...has Gastons pay package had an affect?
shurlock replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
Maybe, maybe not, maybe its had the opposite effect - maybe its actually driven the others to work harder as they all want to prove they deserve £60K. Mongboard-in-let-sleeping-dogs-lie shocker. -
No doubt, Adkins would have been hired on the basis of how there was a meeting of minds, how far his own footballing principles and philosophy chimed with those of the club. That's why the idea that he is being dictated to or having a gun put to his head misses the point. Things are done collaboratively - with managers having a large say in things but ensuring that this say is consistent with the overall vision for the club, thereby minimising disruptions. But just as chairmen can have too much say, so can managers - look at Liverpools recent woes.

What was not to like about that game? In the snow, blood boiling as their 10 men f**ked us on the counter after we had seemingly equalised in the last min. What supporting us is all about
-
A 90th min smash and grab.

Which is the whole point for things being done collaboratively - with managers having a large say in things but ensuring that this say is consistent with the overall vision for the club, thereby minimising disruptions. Contrast this with the car crash at the scousers - large parts of Dalglish experiment have had to be written off as Rodgers has decided that he doesnt want play like Blackburn circa 1995. No doubt, Adkins would have been hired on the basis of how there was a meeting of minds, how far his own footballing principles and philosophy chimed with those of the club. The idea that he is being dictated to or having a gun put to his head misses this point totally.

Agree with most of this. Not all but most.

You suggest that there is only 'bad' short-termism - what about 'bad' long-termism where complacency and indiscipline set in, managers face no pressures to correct their ways but throw good money after bad and clubs lose direction. There are plenty of teams that have played the loyalty card with disappointing returns -Ipswich and Sunderland being good examples. In those situations, perhaps, chairmen should have pulled the trigger earlier. What matters is whether there are signs of progress -whether managers are learning, not some simplistic distinction between short-term and long-term. But, then again, you're the master of windbag guff masking a whole lot of nothing
-
Pards? Think it was pretty divided. A lot of people weren't that sorry to see him go.
-
The last time we had a proper team of 'nasty c**ts' was in Branfoot's first year -and look where that got us. We were saved only by a certain laid back MLT.
-
Not my view at all. Just deferring to the Mongboard.
-
Like the clowns who wanted Michael Owen when we were in L1?
-
He's not a nobody though. Cortese only wants dummies and nobodies.
-
Does Rickie Lambert really look disinterested?
shurlock replied to jasoneuelllfanclub's topic in The Saints
You would think that would be a motivation in itself but watching us concede it's as if players then suffer out-of-body experiences and are powerless to effect the course of a game -not that we're only a quarter of a season through and we've shown we can mix it up. This is where a manager can make a difference. -
Wouldn't be surprised. This team is made up of scapegoats and sacred cows.
-
Agree - think there are few players who would do better at home than away (e.g AL) or vice-versa (e.g. Mayuka, even Guly).
-
Lallana has been poor recently. End of. No need to bring Chaplow or converted CBs into the equation. With Ramirez, Mayuka, Cork, Puncheon and even Guly, there are plenty of options should NA want to experiment.
-
So you didn't mention their respective roles either then (for which you knocked MLG)? Mongboard madness.
