Oh well. Another defensive shit show. It’s the hope…
-
Fuck me - we’re looking like league winners!!!
-
JWP passes backwards and we end up losing the ball after 25 tip taps. Guys a liability.
-
WTF?!?!
-
With players holding the ace cards contractually, I wonder how easy it’s going to be to move players on. Walcott and Ely-no-usey will go because we don’t need to renew (although I suspect Walcott will be retained in some capacity). Beyond that, releasing the likes of Orsic and Oneacho will be unlikely as that will cost money unless there was a clause RE relegation (but I doubt that). We’ll see valued players sold such as Salisu, ABK, Lavia, KWP, Perraud, Che, Alcarez. Unfortunately JWP will likely stay. This will leave us with a bloated squad of poor quality and unsuitable for the Championship, let alone a push for a return to the Prem. We are in such a mess I can see another dismal season upcoming and even another relegation battle. Massive summer ahead, but a Board incapable of finding a way out. Maybe Semmens will be let go with Ankerson left to steer the ship with the new Director of Football?
-
Agree with this, except JWP. He, along with a few others can go and I think the team and results will improve because of it. Don’t get me wrong, a change of coaching/managerial setup is essential too, because we need someone in who can galvanise the players into turning around the losing mentality the squad has acquired. The summer must surely be the biggest churn of players we’ve seen for years.
-
Oh boy this is going to be painful (again). 4-0 Arsenal.
-
Cannot disagree with any of that, but the bit that rings true most is JWP. Midfield General or playmaker extraordinaire are not descriptions that spring to mind. What is he and what is his roll? Oh that’s it, he’s the Worlds best free kick taker, (but misses vital penalties). Luxury player and one we can’t afford in the Championship, so let’s hope we get good money.

Who should shoulder most of the blame? The Board for not supporting Ralph with an Ings replacement (or two)? The Board for making a monumentally poor decision in hiring Jones? The Board for bringing in players no better than the dross we’d already accumulated? The Board for insisting on the club maintaining a style of play that is not suited to the quality level in the squad? Selles for following some kind of blueprint that clearly is not working? The players for not being skilled enough to follow the Managers instructions (or are they just not fit or skilled enough - they’re maxed out)? Answer is it’s all those things and why it’s irretrievable now. It’s why we’re on another downwards spiral. L1 derby’s anyone?
-
Indeed and it could be argued that Selles should shoulder a good proportion of blame for the relegation - he’s hardly found a solution to our demise with a significant amount of money spent to support him.
-
Another opportunity to it it on our huge strikers head and guess what…? We didn’t.
-
78 minutes and Selles brings on three players he should have started. Fucking pointless you idiot.
-
I feel so sorry for those supporters still spending at SMS - the club have properly screwed them over this season. It’s not changed for 4-5 seasons to be fair. And now we’re reaping what they’ve sown.
-
Nice kamikaze move by ABK - don’t fancy the second half…give yourself concussion.
-
Utterly pathetic defending and WTF is Bazunu doing not clearing the ball? We knew we were down, but this is just so sad and embarrassing.
-
Woy knows that a draw will effectively relegate us meaning one less place available for them. His team just need to contain a team incapable of producing a goal threat and likely steal a late goal on the break - it couldn’t be easier for them. Selles on the other hand is telling his players not to worry as there’s no “must win” games!
-
This is an amble on a Sunday afternoon performance. Not looking like we’re anywhere near scoring a goal. Even when we’re in front of goal nobody knows what to do…shocking really at this level. Don’t deserve to stay up.
-
We’ve run out of ideas so now reverting to type…sideways…backwards…wait for 11 players behind the ball.
-
JWP passing to no one - he’s getting really good at that.
-
No urgency and no quality in front of goal continues to be our main downfall.
-
Think there’s more chance of Bazunu scoring frankly, but who knows eh?
-
When did we do that?
-
Sure fire way of letting an inexperienced Manager drown is give him an oversized, low quality squad. It encourages ‘tinkerman’ mentality and lack of cohesion and consistency. I’ll be interested to see the % of backwards and sideways passes versus forward play. They’ll hit us on the break after we’ve dominated possession for 30 minutes.
-
Yep, great man management - do well, assist or score a goal…get dropped. It’s almost like anyone making progress gets hooked out - “can’t be getting too ahead ourselves can we lads”!
-
I don’t think it’s true that Aribo provides more attacking intent or pace than Djenepo or even Armstrong…he does a great job of making a statue look positively mobile!
