Mariela Nisotaki - New Head of Talent Acquisition
Saint Fan CaM replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
Good luck Mariela - you’re going to need it. All the boys on here will be crying when you get your big move to City or Utd in the not too distant future. -
GK: hoping that Ramsdale may stay for one more season - unlikely, but hopeful. Otherwise new no.1…Baz and McCarthy are damaged goods. LB/RB: Bree, Sugawara, Welington, Larios - all good enough. KWP will leave. CB: THB, Wood, Edward’s, + one new player needed… DM: Downes, Charles + one new player needed AM: Fernandes, Dibling + two new players required. Forward/Striker: three new players required including a strong, tallish CF that has a football brain and knows where the goal is. All other players not mentioned above are surplus to requirements and can leave the club or train by themselves. Don’t think 7 new players is too much to ask.

It’ll be Rohl or some cheapo hipster option - nailed on. Cooper might get an interview, but he’ll not court favour with the SR boys I suspect. It might be Lampard in which case I’ll know Spors is a cretin. 😉🤣
-
I’ll summarise. All style and no substance. There you go….thank me later.
-
Can’t disagree RE Spors - it’s going to be a massive job. And we’ve previously seen how a manager can be hamstrung by a deterioration in squad quality - Ralph could have improved the clubs standing with better progressive backing but we know how that went. And it’s taken 3-4 managers trying and failing to make good with this (relatively expensive) squad to get Dragan to realise something more had to change with another relegation staring him in the face.
-
I would start the clear out with any player that has a propensity to move the ball upfield and then turn back to re-cycle it to the defence/keeper….Manning, Bree and Smallbone come to mind. In terms of defenders I’d also transfer list Bednarek, Stephens, ABK, Larios, Sugawara, McCarthy and Bazunu. Forwards/midfielders to see the door would be Downes, Fraser, Edozie, Sulemana, Armstrong, Archer, Tall Paul, BBD, Cornet. In fact the only certain players I’d retain if atall possible would be Ramsdale, THB, Wood, Edward’s, KWP, Welington, Fernandes, Charles, Dibling.
-
I get it, however the importance of sorting out the squad cannot be understated. Otherwise why make a managerial change atall? For me, if there was a choice required, I’d rather keep Rusk/Lallana and improve the squad than get some ‘preferred’ manager who then needs to turn around this same failed group of players. Hopefully we’ll see a significant clear out of the worst of the team whilst retaining some of the best.
-
If anyone thinks we’re coming away with anything resembling a point or three, they really need counselling. Villa are streets ahead of our bunch of weak-willed misfits. Musk and Lallana may have been the no brainer appointments to end the season, but they’re not miracle workers and I fear there’s a good number of our team already mentally packing their summer holiday bags. 1-4 if we’re lucky.
-
All the talk so far has been about this Manager or that. Fact is, in some respects it doesn’t matter if SR / Spors don’t sort the squad out and oust a good number of poorly suited/unskilled/unfit players. IF (and it’s a massive IF) they do that successfully and replace them with better players, then whoever comes in to manage the club will have a good chance of success. Fail and the club will continue to decline even further under the appalling stewardship SR have provided.

Lampard? Too close to Uncle fucking Harry for my liking. And I’m out.
-
Exactly. I’ve been saying for a long time - to achieve sustainable PL promotion from the Championship you need to build a team capable of competing in the PL, with the emphasis on TEAM - not a bunch of fucking misfits with 4 LB’s to every striker.
-
If we sell our best players and replace them with the same level of dross that we’ve become accustomed to and you’ll be satisfied, although 7th might be pushing it somewhat.
-
Well that’s a surprise - relegation. Who’d have thunk it?
-
To be fair he didn’t hit the player - the attacker went over his legs.
-
Lovely lol
-
Isn’t it strange how our best player on the pitch somehow manages to be in the right place at the right time to score a goal?
-
Haha - we did something - think it’s a goal.
-
Has Smallbone actually looked like he’s in the game? Questionable.
-
Stewart gets “a lovely reception” from the Saints fans apparently. More like utter surprise and derision!
-
Fighting for a result, 2-0 down, and TP gets pulled on at 72 minutes. Shite Manager.
-
And nobody at the back post taking a chance on a loose ball - and guess what that’s what happened!
-
We’re saved…Smallbone on. Ah, actually, that means we’re giving up midfield.
-
My word it’s difficult to really conceive how poor we are in every aspect of the game.
