Love how the games are coming thick & fast at the moment, although not sure the team are feeling the same…there were some tired legs yesterday. What are we to make of Blackburn? Another bunch of cloggers with nothing much to play for? Park the bus? Strangely it’s this type of game that could well prove to derail any hope of an auto spot, despite the belief etc that Tonda is instilling in the team. We’ll probably see players rotate in - maybe due to niggly injuries - but the squad seems strong in terms of deploying what the manager needs. In short, another difficult one to call, but I’m going 2-1.

Like most comments, I’m pleased with Eckhert and the results he’s brought about to date, but let’s not forget the shambles that existed prior to his appointment to the 1st team, both in terms of management, coaching and squad. Now they’ve put the club back on an even keel the hard work really begins because they have to consolidate and build - that’s much harder, especially if we do somehow manage to get promoted. It Could be argued that the squad is still not ready for a return to the Prem with too many mediocre players surviving the last debacle. In short the jury is still out, but so far so good.

With their injuries the most concern I have is in the quality of the officials in managing a pro football game rather than allowing rugby style tackling from Derby. Wrexham tried to injure at least two of our players - Derby have nothing to lose now and it will serve their purpose to crock our best players for the rest of the season. Decent officials : 3-1 Saints Shit officials: 1-1

Peretz for me. Yes, he’s a loan but our change of fortunes has come about since he got the keepers jersey more or less. There’s got to be a reason for that.

Excellent second half performance - top game management from Tonda - when we could have quite easily folded under their thuggish onslaught and a right dodgy Ref. Away support was exceptionally good given the lower numbers I thought. Azaz grew, thankfully, in the game. Edozie was somewhat ineffectual to be honest, but didn’t do a lot wrong as such. Larin is an odd one - one minute he’s doing fuck all and the next he’s doing something great. Thought Charles and Downes started to tire mid-second half and needed a change - as it happens it didn’t really matter. Very happy with that result however there’s so much more to do now to consolidate on that to start attacking the 2nd-5th or even holding on to 6th. Nobodies giving up the chase just yet.

Larin is not effecting the game positively and Azaz is a shadow of his performance in the last game. Two great goals and we definitely deserve to be ahead. But as usual we take the foot off the pedal and let them into the game. The Ref literally gifted them their goal after a blatant foul on THB - possibly even missed a red as Moore led with his elbow into he back of THB’s neck. Disgusting tactics from Wrexham.

Also, agree with the comments around the officials having eyes wide open. Wrexham are not a footballing team…they are physical and will try to injure at least Scienza, Fellows and Edozie (assuming they play). For them particularly it’s not just about this game - they’ll want as many of our players crocked for the run-in as possible and this is their big chance to effect that.
