To be fair he was not protected by any of our five fucking defenders.
-
Mine would be… ”given the formation and coaching for today, can we assume you don’t want the vacant managers role?”
-
My word is it possible for this team to look so utterly crap? Completely bereft of any idea how to defend or attack. If there’s any skill in the team such as Fernandes, it’s nullified by the shitshow from most of the rest. Having a clueless ‘manager’ doesn’t help.
-
This team is as dynamic as a fucking brick with half the skill. There is no joy in watching these wasters.
-
And yet more suicidal passes out from the back to static players.
-
Just ball watching lazy buggers!
-
Rumour has it that the last of the rare cards went on Sulemana’s transfer and the remainder are looking a bit dog-eared and used! 😉🤭
-
I wish I could…🤣

It was an example used to show YOUR assertion was not entirely valid…please try to keep up. And anyway, if experience at the level Coventry have achieved (I.e. consistent failure) is what we can look forward to then it re-enforces my opinion that he should not be given the job. I don’t think even SR are that nuts.

Double negative, but that’s fine. The answer is, to a degree yes, however there are a number of other more important factors to consider. Pointless appointing any given manager however successful if his style of play, his character, his desire to utilise youth, etc etc. did not match the ideals of SFC. Plus your assertion only holds true to a point…for example even if Camberley Town topped their table by winning every game in the season, do you honestly think Saints would appoint their manager? (The answer is no).
-
By their standards maybe.
-
And? Convince me otherwise.
-
That’ll be an offer of £200k and 12 bubble gum cards going in from SR then. 😉
-
I don’t want that ‘Skate by association’ anywhere near our club. It would be another nail in the coffin in my eyes and confirmation that SR don't understand the fans or the clubs history one iota.
-
Fernandes - no question.

Thanks for posting this FF - I don’t think anyone can blame you for your position of exposure to the club - you’ve quite literally worked for it. I’m much more inclined to believe and accept your version of history or in this case, an exposé of what the clubs plans are to repair the damage of the last 3-4 years (at least). However, that’s where the trust stops - not with you, but with the club. They can tell you what their plans are and they might appear fantastic, but it’s the competency of delivery that concerns me the most with the SR team top down. The hope is that Spors and the team he’s assembling will be the catalyst for positive change - the summer overhaul period starting with the new managerial appointment will be very indicative of whether lessons have been learnt…or not. The jury is very much still out.

I can’t remember seeing a single confirmed link to Cooper being in the running?
-
I voted Manning in show of defiance. 😉
-
Apologies - just catching up. Has he gone yet?
-
I was just trying to be hip in a Southampton soccer ball type of manner as is often favoured by @Turkish. 😉
-
Agreed. I would very much hope that Ballard and Abu are included in the first team roster for next season, alongside some decent older experienced players.
-
One of the teams I’d most like to get a win against mainly because of an irrational dislike of Pickford. An entitled little club that is destined to live in the shadow of ‘Pool. That said, can’t see anything other than a loss as they’ll have too much for us. 3-0.
-
True (if you read further up the thread you’d see I’d already said that), although that does not mean my last statement is not also true. 😉

Thing is if he’d have been given better players that had the skill to play the system successfully, this conversation would be quite different I reckon. My problem with Russball mostly was it was deathly boring, but would that position have changed if we’d gone up Champions last season and remained in the Prem? Maybe and to say otherwise is being extremely disingenuous.
-
Well that was my point - people often relate ‘Russball’ simply to possession football and playing out from the back, but in reality it’s when the squad is drilled into ONLY playing in that manner and squad quality is poor so that there’s next to no creativity or skill to move forward without making too many errors. It’s just about OK in the Championship (we still managed to ship far too many goals), but woefully found wanting in the Prem such is the gulf between the two leagues.
