When we were kids back in the day and came off our bikes or self-made go-carts scratching our arms and legs to buggery, Mum would clean us up and then inflict even more pain with a Dettol or TCP bath. Watching Russball week in week out is a bit like that…we’re told it’s doing us good, but it fucking stings like hell. And each game inflicts a new level of ‘tough love’. And this game will be no different. Villa are a good outfit now…wise buys, great manager and tactically generally sound. We’ll lose…not by much, but we’ll lose no doubt. Russ will repeat his bullshit ideas and mantra of being proud of his brave boys. There’ll be another wave of anger on here and across the supporter base, to no avail because SR and the Board are toothless. Next.

I predicted a red card but didn’t think it would be given for such a stupid error and from our supposed Captain. Think everyone predicted a Russball fuckup and the resultant opening of floodgates. RM really is a complete knob with no clue, but there’s no indication whatsoever that SR have the nouse (or the money) to oust him. We’re going o be subjected to this torture week in week out for the foreseeable future which is frankly depressing. There’s no hope of us getting further points this season…it’s just a mess.

Well before we knew the line-up it was clear to most we’d have a somewhat tough evening. Now - it’s likely going to be an utter embarrassment. The left and right hand sides are completely unbalanced, players playing next to each other for the first time, Wood central in a seriously weakened defence - actually Wood, Stephens and Manning starting is a joke. Obviously ABK and Taylor are out of the picture, but really??? Apart from another loss, I can see a red card and a penalty coming our way. Just can’t see anything positive about this one. Hope I’m wrong.

He not only got the big decisions right, he was insistent that all the many small things made a difference too. Getting the pitch at Staplewood to match the pitch at SMS for example…little details that all add up to a strong infrastructure and it was that attention to detail that convinced top players coming to little old Saints to commit to the plan. The difference between Cortese’s Saints FC and now is light years apart.

Unfortunately I’m going to miss this as out for a Xmas curry - beats hiding behind the sofa I suppose. It’s going to be a right old mess though with the missing players and the usual tactical masterclass fuckup delivered courtesy of Russball. Of course I’m hoping I’ll come home to find we’ve been magnificent and that Amazon Prime will have a catch-up option to watch the game.

Yeah it will be interesting to see if Russball has improved any since last season. Of course if Swansea do their homework properly they’ll know exactly how to beat us, although that’s not to say they’ll have the quality to do so. Let’s face it we’ve got Stephens and Manning, so it’ll be tough for them.

I would imagine it might be on medical/insurance advice. The club have been royally screwed over by the purchase, although it would appear someone on the medical side didn’t do good due diligence.

Can we get the game postponed if we don’t have any senior keepers available? Just a thought.
