I just don’t agree with the POV that it’s been a decent window so far, even keeping Sully, KWP and Che. We’ve lost most of our first choice players and then some, raising a LARGE amount of money. And replaced SOME of them without spending much, which may not be essential in itself, but it’s reflective of SR’s strategic imperative this window…get money in. Anyone who thinks differently is in denial. Thinking back to the promises made at the fans forum, I do think it’s shocking that fans have once again been sold a story that SR would support a promotion push. Personally I didn’t wholly believe it would be as straightforward as that. There seems to be an overly simplistic view of what’s happening. Yes, the team last year got us relegated and were collectively shit (placed in the context of a failing Manager and then two consecutively poor Managers). In a sense it doesn’t matter how poor the outgoing players were collectively…fact is they were consistently selected as first team starters, so what’s left when the majority of those players leave? The also rans. The ones that got ignored or loaned out. Are they any more well equipped to cope with the Championship? We’re already seeing what the options will be when ‘key’ players (like Stephens) get injured - at least with the window open there’s an option to get a replacement in, but will that mean other areas will get neglected as a result? There’s no guarantees our remaining wantaways will still be here…will there be enough time to replace them with quality now the squad is at barebones? There is a positive - Martin seems to be the real deal and connecting with the squad. There is a potential positive…SR utilise the purse and allow Wilcox to get in some real quality in areas that need it over the next few days. My gut feeling based on previous form is we’ll be disappointed, but who knows…perhaps I’m wrong. Let’s hope so.

Can anyone in any doubt that this has been a shocking window at this point? We all expected outgoings but the level of the exodus is breathtaking and it’s seemingly still on-going. Add to this Stephens long term injury and once again we start the season with a squad that’s got a lack of depth of quality. There’s no way that’s not going to affect our standing in the league in an adverse manner. Unless there’s some stunning business done by Wilcox this week, it’s hard not to think SR have sold us down the river in the talk about a promotion push.

We’re back to having no goal threat with 22minutes played. But we’ve got 85% possession so everything is hunky dory.

Starting to feel like previous windows x10. I honestly don’t know how Martin can continue to be confident we’ll end up with a stronger squad…right now it still looks like a dogs breakfast without the tasty bits.

I think it’s becoming all too clear how urgently the club needs to cut its cloth - there’s no huge warchest waiting for Wilcox to blow. The squad is is so bloated with poor signings, if they continue to hang on they’ll be like lead weights around our proverbial ankles dragging us down into the murky depths. That’s why I’m surprised at the Holgate and to a lesser extent Fraser signings (if true)….they strike me as further mediocre squad players no better than some of the dross stinking out the place these last few months. There’s no indication (yet) that we’re signing 1st team starters to actually improve the team and there’s too many obstinate sub-quality players on the books still. In short, the signs are not positive, however if Che decides to stay then we may be OK.

If Piroe is definitely up in Leeds on a medical then it signals one of three things… a. Assuming he’s aware of our interest, he wants to join Leeds as they’ve actually put an offer in. b. He’s been made aware aware that we’re not selling Che and doesn’t fancy playing 2nd fiddle. c. We’re selling Che, but have another striker lined up that will deliver a better return (I.e. sell on fee) than Piroe. My moneys on this one.

You can put your house on him scoring against Saints at any point in the season regardless of where he ends up (unless he actually somehow does sign for us which is unlikely now it seems).

We’re not really. Until the Che deal gets sorted (or he stays) a Piroe deal will not be discussed and if a Che deal goes through last minute, we could be left holding the shitty end of the stick (i.e. Arma/Mara/Onoachu our strike options). Plus Leeds seem to be all over the deal with a £12m offer accepted allegedly, so our options are starting to get closed down.

Looks like Swansea have us over a barrel with a large tub of lube at hand with Wood and Piroe. No surprise really given our raid on their Management team and the nature of our transfer business (big pot from JWP and Lavia deals waiting to be raided).
